Ralph A. DeVito, 72, Ocala, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

He was born in Hull, Mass. He lived in the Ocala area since 1999, formerly of Henderson, Nev.

He was a member of Sons of Italy Guiseppe Verdi Lodge 278, Weymouth, Mass. He was an avid golfer, card player and bowler.

Survivors include wife of 46 years, Barbara DeVito of Ocala; son, Stephen F. DeVito of Brocton, Mass.; mother, Rose DeVito of Weymouth, Mass.; and sister, Diane E. Turner of Holbrook, Mass.

Bruce Leece, 52 Inverness

Bruce D. Leece, 52, Inverness, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, in Brooksville.

Born Sept. 17, 2003, in Cincinatti, Ohio, to Harman and Anna Leece, he came to Inverness in April from Tampa.

He was a security guard. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his mother, Anna Gowan and husband, Anthony of Inverness; daughter, Tammy of Tampa; two brothers, Michael Leece of Atlanta, Ga., and Timothy Leece of Jackson, Mich.; sister, Connie Leece of Altoona; two nieces; and one nephew.

Bernard Meinert, 76 Lecanto

Bernard F. Meinert, 76, Lecanto, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at his home under the care of family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Born July 24, 1927, in Allegheny County, Pa., to Joseph and Marie Meinert, he moved to Lecanto in 1990 from Cranberry, Pa.

He was a steel mill worker. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include wife, Katherine Meinert of Lecanto; three sons, Glenn Meinert of Albion, Pa., Joseph Meinert of Wexford, Pa., and Randolph Meinert of West Sunbury, Pa.; two daughters, Virginia Callahan of Newton Grave, N.C., and Pamela Carbaugh of Gibsonia, Pa.; brother, James Meinert of Franklin Park Boro, Pa.; sister, Marian Heintz-Delisi of Wexford, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jerry Ray Miller, 62, Inverness, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at his home.

Born Dec. 12, 1940, in Morristown, Tenn., to Hubert and Mayme Miller, he came here five years ago from Indianapolis, Ind.

He retired from the maintenance department of the Allison Transmission Division of General Motors with 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marines. He was Baptist.

Survivors include wife, Linda (Coake) Miller; three sons, Jerry J. and Timothy T. Miller, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Anthony A. Miller of Floral City; daughter, Jennifer (Neil) McDonald of Cumming, Ga.; brother, Michael Miller of Indianapolis, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.

Lillian Newman, 78, Floral City, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, in Inverness.

Born in New York, N.Y., she came here 10 years ago from Marlboro, N.J.

She was Jewish.

She was preceded in death by husband, Nathan Newman in 1991.

Survivors include daughter, Bonnie S. (Hans) Dreher of Floral City; son, Steven Newman of Marlboro, N.J.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robyn Diane Riordan, 49, Hernando, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, in Inverness after a motorcylce accident that also took the life of her companion James H. "Jim" Wheatley.

Born Nov. 4, 1953, in St. Petersburg, she came here in 1986 from there.

She was a homemaker and formerly worked at the Citrus County Chronicle.

Survivors include daughter, Amber Riordan of St. Petersburg; parents, Elmo and Billie Boone of Hernando; two sisters, Denise Antonewitz and Dona Boone, both of St. Petersburg.

Vera (Cupie) Scott, 84, Inverness, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.

Born May 23, 1919, in Columbus, Ohio, to Ozza and Florence Rothen, she moved to Inverness in 1965 from Columbus, Ohio.

She was a homemaker, wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by husband, Glenwood Scott and son, Wesley Gene Scott.

Survivors include daughter, Cathy ( David) Black; sister-in-law Ada (Robert) Minnix; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Anthony "Tony" Soletto Sr., 67 Inverness

Anthony Michael "Tony" Soletto Sr., 67, Inverness, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003.

Born May 5, 1936, in Plainfield, N.J., to Frank and Elsie (Lantz) Soletto, he came here in 1995 from Middlesex, N.J.

He retired from Ford Motor Company Plant in Edison, N.J., as a welder with 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish of Inverness and Citrus-American Italian Social Club. He enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include wife of 46 years, Ann (Saindon) Soletto; son, Anthony (Pamela) M. Soletto of Somerville, N.J.; three daughters, Jean (Kevin) Reese of Inverness, Annette (John) Vecchio and Patricia (Karl) Scheiderman, both of Middlesex, N.J.; four brothers, Frank Soletto of Beverly Hills, Richard Soletto of Citrus Hills, Michael Soletto of Lecanto and Raymond Soletto of Inverness; and 13 grandchildren.

James Harold "Jim" Wheatley, 37, Hernando, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Tampa General Hospital after a motorcylce accident that also took the life of his companion, Robyn Diane Riordan.

Born June 11, 1966, he came here more than 30 years ago from his native Fairmount, Ind.

He was the head pressman for the Citrus County Chronicle with 11 years of service. He was Protestant.

Survivors include daughter, Shana Wheatley of Inverness; son, J.R. "Bubby" Wheatley of Inverness; granddaughter, Jordan Wheatley of Inverness; mother, Cathy Wheatley Smith of Beverly Hills.

George Argetsinger Jr., 57 Beaufort, S.C.

George Leroy Argetsinger Jr., 57, Beaufort, S.C., formerly of Homosassa, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 25, 1945, in Muskegon, Mich., a son of Carol Waird Argetsinger and George Argetsinger, he moved to Beaufort five years ago from Homosassa, where he lived for 22 years.

Mr. Argetsinger was an electrician with South Carolina Electric and Gas.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Blimka Argetsinger of Beaufort, S.C.; one daughter, Susanne Argetsinger Peters (Richard) of Beaufort, S.C.; two sons, Stephen Argetsinger and George Argetsinger III of Beaufort, S.C.; three sisters, Ethel (Claude) Deal, Georgia Dean and Kathy (David) Copeland of Florida; a brother, Carl (Kathy) Argetsinger of Florida; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
