Rhoda E. Huffman, 95, Crystal River, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 3, 1908, in Indianapolis, Ind., and came here 33 years ago from Valdosta, Ga.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Crystal River United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Huffman enjoyed bowling and continued in the sport even in her nineties.
Survivors include her nephews, Robert Cole of Belaire Bluffs and Earl Huffman of Indiana; and nieces, Janice Rowen of California, Diane Coady, Carol Anderson, Geraldine Huffman and Glenda Graber, all of Indiana, and Vicki Eurich of South Dakota.

Ruth Elizabeth Lahey, 90, Jacksonville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Jacksonville.
She was born in Jacksonville and came to Dunnellon from St. Petersburg in 1970.
Ms. Lahey was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon.
Survivors include three sons, Richard T. Lahey Jr. of Clifton Park, N.Y., Benjamin B. Lahey of Chicago, Ill., and Jeremiah K. Lahey of Jacksonville; a sister, Mary Ben Scheff of St. Petersburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 2, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Randolph E. and Mildred (Hauer) LaMond, he came here in 2000 from Pittsburgh, Pa., and Brooksville.
Mr. LaMond was a self-employed mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Mildred LaMond.
Survivors include one son, John A. LaMond Jr. of Homosassa; one daughter, Melaine A. LaMond of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandchildren; and his fiancee, Jeanne Jones of Homosassa.

Marguarite E. Marsh, 82, Tallahassee, who was retired from the Florida Comptroller's Office, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003.
She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alan Marsh.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, A. Ray Marsh Jr. of Tallahassee; two sons, Terry Marsh of Tallahassee and Brian Marsh of Spartanburg, S.C.; a daughter, Thersa Evans of Kissimmee; a sister, Frances Sturges of Orlando; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Peters was a laborer in construction.

Emil Scholz, 91 Inverness
Emil Frederick Scholz, 91, Inverness, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, in Inverness.
Born March 5, 1912, in Auburndale, Mass., to Alfred and Elsie Scholz, he came here in 1998 from Brentwood, Calif.
Mr. Scholz' engineering management career began in Bridgeport, Conn., and went on to positions in Lowell, Mass., Oakland, Calif., and Norwich, Conn.
He was a member of Delta Longbeards Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation, California. He was a passionate fisherman, skilled outdoorsman, and an amateur radio operator for 75 years, building most of his own equipment and incorporating computers into his station when the PC became available. Mr. Scholz established communications networks in Connecticut and continued through this year talking via Morse code to family members and amateurs worldwide.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Katherine Scholz, in 1984; and daughters, Elsie Holmes and Pamela Reynold.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanore Crawford Scholz of Inverness; two sons, Frederick Scholz of Fremont, Calif., and David Scholz of Brentwood, Calif.; a stepson, David Rees of Trumbull, Conn.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A native of Parkersburg, W.Va., she was born Sept. 11, 1948, to Charles H. and Veronica (Ingram) Slaven. She came to Florida in 1998 from New Orleans, La.
She was Catholic.

Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress.
She was a member of BPO of Does No. 232, Inverness; Rebecka; and Order of Eastern Star, Indiana.
She was Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Smith, on Jan. 10, 1976. Their hobbies included a lumberyard in Shelbyville, Ind., and then farming together in Missouri, Michigan and Indiana.
Survivors include two sons, Harry E. Smith of Shelbyville, Ind., and Robert L. Smith of Bloomington, Ind.; two daughters, Peggy J. Wiley of Clearwater and Charlotte A. Myer of Inverness; a sister, Rosalie Bass of Shelbyville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
