Thomas M. Strawn Jr., 52

Thomas M. Strawn Jr., 52, field maintenance supervisor for Florida Water Services, died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Dunnellon. Born in Inglis, Mr. Strawn was a lifetime resident of Dunnellon.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughters, Roselan Strawn of Dunnellon, Kin Markos of Orlando and Kristy Markos of Dunnellon; sons, Kelly Markos of Smyrna, Tenn., and Karl Markos of Dunnellon; mother, Margaret Baggett of Inglis; brothers, Johnny Strawn and Charlie Strawn, both of Dunnellon; sisters, Mary Kight, Sally Nichols and Francis Lee, all of Dunnellon; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, Reverend Ira Nichols and Reverend Al Washington, officiating.

Patricia Joiner, 68

Patricia A. Joiner, 68, a food service manager who worked for the Dade County school board for more than 25 years, died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Chicago, Ill., she moved to Dunnellon 18 years ago from North Miami Beach.

She was Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, William; mother, Mary F. Collins of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Cindy Dellalibera of Ocala and Bambi Peterson of Dunnellon; three sisters, Josephine Pantaleo of Barrington, Ill., Susie Bussema of Oaklawn, Ill., and Mary Collins of Chicago, Ill.; brother, Jerome Collins of Kingsville, Texas; six grandsons, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

I.W. Trotter, 78

I.W. Trotter, 78, a retired land surveyor, died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Inglis. Born in Largo, he moved to Inglis from Winter Park in 1987.

He was a member of the Florida Society of Professional Land Surveyors. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife Norma J.; daughters, JoAnn Johnson, Princeton, Ky., and LaVon James, Debary; sisters, Irene Bayless, McAlpin, and ruby Ritchison and Myrtice Trotter, both of Clearwater; and three grandchildren.

David K. Trubey, 75

David Keith Trubey, 75, a retired research physicist for Oak Ridge National Laboratories, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Ocala. A native of Coldwater, Mich., he moved to Dunnellon from high Point, N.C., in 2001.

Mr. Trubey was a member of American Nuclear Society, Genealogy Society of Citrus Springs, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, Robert W. Trubey, Seiverville, Tenn., and Richard K. Trubey, Upland, Calif.; brother, Gaylord G. Trubey, Simi Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Edgar H. Whitney, 89

Edgar Haynes Whitney, 89, an engineer, died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Citrus Springs. A native of East Hampton, Mass., he came here from Westfield, Mass., in 1958.

Mr. Whitney was a member of the Plastic Engineer Society. In retirement he was a plastic consultant and designed molds for many years for Florida Discharge Machinery in Clearwater. He ran a plant in North Ireland for three years for American Homes and helped start a plant in Japan for them and in South America. He loved to sail and play golf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elsie; daughter, Adrienne Brown of Bronson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His son, Al Whitney, preceded him in death.

Anne J. Brantley, 58

Anne J. Brantley, 58, of Ocala, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. A native of Detroit, Mich., she resided in the Ocala area since 2000, formerly of Citrus County and California.

Mrs. Brantley was a customer service representative with Cingular Wireless Communications. She was Catholic; member of Stewart in the Union with Cingular Wireless Company, and past president of West Coast National Swimming Pool & Spa Institute.

Survivors include her husband, Loyd; daughter, Natalie Krause of Hernando; son, Christopher Brantley of Homosassa; sister, Julie Groves of Fontana, Calif.; two brothers, Lloyd Boothe of Pinellas Park and Fred Boothe of Tampa; three granddaughters, one grandson and two step-granddaughters.

Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, TimberRidge Chapel, handled the arrangements.

Gordon C. Fowler, 77, of Crystal River

Gordon C. Fowler, of Crystal River, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Crystal River. A native of Bradford, Vt., he came here 18 years ago from Chicago, Ill. He was 77.

Mr. Fowler was a purchasing director for Greyhound Bus Lines. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Gordon Fowler (Ellen) of Lake City; daughter, Gayle Butler (Bernie) of Hinsdale, N.H.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Roberts Funeral Home, of Dunnellon, handled the arrangements.

Mildred M. Hadley, 83, of Oak Run

Mildred M. Hadley, 83, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at Palm Garden of Ocala. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she came here in 1992 from Miami. She was 83.

Mrs. Hadley was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Hialeah Hospital, and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Curtis L; son, Curtis Hadley, Hialeah; daughters, Mary L. Rupp, Horseheads, N.Y., Sharon A. O'Donnell, Hollywood and Maureen Bell, Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Martin J. Foy Sr., Plantation; sisters, Winifred Russell and Mickey Zingone, both of Middlesex, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to Palm Gardens of Ocala.

Martha Heil, 81, of Oak Run

Martha Heil, 81, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Sylvia's House. A native of Czechoslovakia, she came here in 1987 from Long Island, N.Y.

She was a member of the Catholic Council of Women, the Pro Life Council and of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was a homemaker.

Her husband Otto Heil preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Otto J. Heil, Largo.

Donations may be made to the Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

William Kuriga, 89 of Kingsland Estates, OTOW

William Kuriga, 89, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at home. A native of Chicago, Ill., Mr. Kuriga moved here from Westchester, Ill., in 1978.

He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. He was a retired manager for a furniture manufacturer.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dorothy E.; and brother, Nick Kuriga, Elmhurst, Ill.

William H. Kollmer Sr., 89, of OTOW

William H. "Bill" Kollmer Sr., 89, died Thursday, July 24, 2003. A native of Queens, N.Y., he came here from East Northport, N.Y. in 1983.

He was a retired blacksmith and welder, a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church and an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Marie A.; son, William H. Kollmer Jr., Bohemia, N.Y.; daughters, Marie J. Slack, Baltimore, Md. and Jean G. Clifford, South Setauket, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Helen Nowak, 94, of Dunnellon

Helen Nowak, of Dunnellon, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Lecanto. A native of Chicago, Ill., she came here in 2001 from there. She was 94.

Mrs. Nowak was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Polish National Catholic Church in Chicago and president of the church's Woman's Club.

She was a member of the Polish National Union of America.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Nowak.

Survivors include two daughters, Genevieve Taraschio (Sam) of Beverly Hills and Adeline Rajca (LeRoy) of Citrus Springs; a son, Richard Nowak (Cheryl) of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Florence Setlak of Dunnellon, Sophia Cosciminski, Matilda Trzaskos, Donuta Mazur, all of Poland; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon handled the arrangements.
