Jo Nellie Berryman of Gainesville died Wednesday at her home. She was 63.
Born in Luther, Mich., Mrs. Berryman was a mortgage underwriter before moving to Gainesville six months ago.
Mrs. Berryman is survived by her husband, Thomas Charles Berryman of Gainesville; two daughters, Kim Marie Berryman and Karen Berryman, both of Gainesville; a son John William Berryman of Boca Raton; two sisters, Jayme Ippolito of Treasure Island and Janet McLean of Bradenton; and two grandchildren.

Franklin Lee Birt
Franklin Lee Birt died Monday at Shands at AGH after a lengthy illness. He was 41.
Mr. Birt lived in Gainesville all of his life. Mr. Birt was a Baptist and a brick mason.
Survivors include his father, William Birt of Gainesville; a stepmother, Catherine Birt of Gainesville; two sisters, Tammy Birt and Connie Melanson of Gainesville; and two brothers, Tommy Birt and Mike Birt of Gainesville.
Walter Murray Craddock
Walter Murray Craddock of Gainesville died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 78.
Mr. Craddock was born in Sparta, Tenn., and moved to Gainesville from Tampa 10 years ago.
He was a Protestant and the owner of a produce business.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Craddock of Williston; two sons, Jimmy Craddock of Tennessee and Murray Craddock of Louisiana; a daughter, Donna Kelly of Tennessee; a sister, Clair Moore of Palatka; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Titus Timothy Freeman
CROSS CITY - Titus Timothy Freeman of Cross City died at Shands at AGH after being hit by a falling tree while doing logging work in Gainesville on Monday. He was 24.
Mr. Freeman was educated in the public schools of Dixie County and was a member of the Miracle Deliverance Church of Cross City. He was a logger and also worked for the Old Town Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed working with electrical engineering.
Survivors include his mother, Bobbie Freeman of Cross City; a son, Ke'shaun Tre'mon Freeman of Cross City; four sisters, Mary Nance of Perry, Gladys Harris of Lake City, and Cora Godbolt and Kathryn Jones, both of Cross City; two brothers, Jeremiah Freeman of Lake City and Tracy Thomas of Cross City.
Margaret R. Mansfield
Margaret R. Mansfield of Gainesville died Saturday at her home of natural causes. She was 88.
Born in Germantown, Pa., Mrs. Mansfield moved to the Gainesville area in 1981 from Telford, Pa.
Mrs. Mansfield was a homemaker and a charter member of the Dunbar United Church of Christ in Hamdon, Conn.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Mansfield Jr. of Gainesville; a daughter, Carolen Hurd of Hamdon; a son, Michael Lewis of Newberry; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lucille Mitchell
Lucille Mitchell of Gainesville died after a lengthy illness on Nov. 17 at Shands at AGH.
She was 78.
Ms. Mitchell, a homemaker, was born in Fargo, Ga., and moved to the Gainesville area 52 years ago.
Ms. Mitchell was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Waldo.
She is survived by four sons, Donald Mitchell of Gainesville, Eugene Simmons of Orlando, and Ronald Mitchell and Leroy Mitchell Jr., both of Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Carolyn McCray, Althea Bradley, Jacqueline Hopkins and Barbara Burch, all of Gainesville; 37 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Robert E. Reed-Hill
Robert E. Reed-Hill of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 86.
Mr. Reed retired from the Coast Guard in 1959 as a commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
He also retired as a professor emeritus of Material Science Engineering at the University of Florida after 20 years of teaching and research. He remained active in research and continued to write publications and work on various projects in physical metallurgy. He published a textbook concerning metallurgy that is used throughout the world.
Mr. Reed-Hill was born in Detroit and moved to Gainesville from Groton, Conn., in 1960
Survivors include his wife, Lois Ann Reed-Hill of Gainesville; a stepson, Capt. James B. Swift of Meridian, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Pam Fuqua of Marianna and Kathleen Rippley of Tampa; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
John Mode Starling
MELBOURNE - John Mode Starling Sr. of Melbourne died Monday at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. He was 70.
Born in Brooker, Mr. Starling grew up in Gainesville and served with the Army. He later worked as an editor at The Sun from 1954 until 1960, editing The Associated Press wire for The Sun.
He was editor in chief for the University of Florida Law Review in 1961.
Mr. Starling moved to Brevard County in the early 1960s and later became a partner with the law firm of Crofton, Holland, Starling, Harris and Severs in Titusville. He also worked as an attorney for the city of Titusville.
He served on the board of directors of the Goldfield Corp. and was a former board member at Sun Bank. He belonged to The Florida Bar Association, the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the UF John Marshall Bar Association and the LaCita Country Club.
Survivors include a son, John Starling Jr. of Tallahassee; a daughter, Jewell Anderson of Gainesville; a sister, Laura Faye Anderson of Sarasota; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Julia Mae Wallace
WILLISTON - Julia Mae Wallace of Williston died Saturday at North Central Hospice House. She was 90.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Fitzgerald, Ga. She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Williston.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by two sons, Raleigh Wallace of Williston and Elihu Wallace of Palmetto; three daughters, Marjorie Livett of Bradenton, Juanita Wallace Williams of Williston and Alice Wallace Jones of Lake City; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
Willie Lee Young Sr.
Willie Lee Young Sr. of Gainesville died Nov. 15 at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 65.
Mr. Young was born in Gainesville and moved to Riviera Beach, before returning to Gainesville in the early 1950s.
He was a retired wastewater service operator for the city of Gainesville.
He attended the public schools of Alachua County.
Mr. Young was a member of the Communications Workers of America Organization.
He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maybell Bradley, and his second wife, Mae Francis Cernan.
Survivors include his companion, Elmera Williams of Gainesville; a daughter, Cheryl Lockhart of Gainesville; three sons, Willie Young Jr., David Young and Leroy Young, all of Gainesville; three sisters, Bishop Flora Chapman and Elaine Poole, both of Chicago, and Bernice Hogan of Waycross, Ga.; four brothers, Melvin Poole Sr. and Anthony Poole, both of Gainesville, Johnny Poole of Archer and Nathaniel Pool of Virginia; and six grandchildren. A sister, Laura Hines, preceded him in death.
Freddie Lee Young Sr.
LACROSSE - Freddie Lee "Man" Young Sr., a lifelong resident of LaCrosse, died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 60.
Mr. Young was a brick mason and a Baptist.
Survivors include five daughters, Mae Young Patel of Chiefland, Patricia Young Gundrum of Sanford, and Nicole Young, Terra Young and Maria Santiago Kitchen, all of Gainesville; three sons, Freddie L. Young Jr. of Trenton, and Freddie L. Young III and Curtis Santiago, both of Gainesville; fourthree sisters, Esther J. Long of High Springs, Ruby L. Burket of Gainesville, Bertha L. Canty of LaCrosse and Lillie J. Hammond of High Springs; three brothers, Joe Nathan Young Sr. of Gainesville, and Thomas Young and Willie Young, both of LaCrosse; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Fred Palmer Gallop
OLD TOWN - Fred Palmer Gallop died Thursday at his home. He was 59.
Mr. Gallop served in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring after 20 years.
Born in Wanchese, N.C., he lived here for 23 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Cross City.
He is survived by two daughters, Joey Henderson of Cross City and Judy Keets of Old Town; two grandsons; and one granddaughter; and special friend Edna Sullivan.
Una Lowry Hasler
Una Lowry Hasler of Gainesville died Friday at Shands AGH after a brief illness. She was 79.
Mrs. Hasler was a homemaker in recent years and formerly was employed by Belk Lindsey company. Born in Franklin County, she attended school at Taylor Hill near Frisco, Ill. She was a homemaker before she moved to Gainesville in 1958.
Mrs. Hasler was a member of Countryside Baptist Church of Gainesville and an active member of the Joy Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Hasler, and a son, Lloyd W. King.
She is survived by a son, Harold L. King of Gainesville; two sisters, Erma Pearce of Ewing, Ill., and Ruth Lowry of Mount Vernon, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Noel C. Johnson
JACKSONVILLE - Noel C. Johnson of Keystone Heights died May 1 in Jacksonville. He was 38.
Mr. Johnson was a retired plasterer in the construction industry.
He moved to Keystone Heights two years ago from Jacksonville.
He is survived by his parents, Herbert and Bettie Johnson Sr. of Keystone Heights; two daughters, Nicole and Rachel Johnson, both of Jacksonville; four brothers, Mark and Terry Johnson, both of Jacksonville, John Johnson of Keystone Heights and Daniel Johnson of Starke; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Inez Clementine Leigh
OCALA - Inez Clementine Leigh died Friday in Ocala. She was 90.
Mrs. Leigh was a homemaker who came to Ocala from St. Petersburg in the mid-1980s.
She was a member of the Williston Church of God, a past member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Holiday Hope for Kids.
Survivors include a son, James A. Leigh of Sarasota; a daughter, Marlene L. Marshall of Ocala; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
