ARREDONDO - Sam Bryant of Arredondo died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. He was 92.
Deacon BryantHe was a retired custodian for the University of Florida and for Sears, Roebuck and Co.
He was born in Jasper and moved from New River to Arredondo 54 years ago.
Mr.Deacon Bryant was a member of Pallbearer's Lodge No. 18, Brotherhood Manpower for Christ, Inc., and the Greater New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a past president of the Baptist Training Union, a devotion leader, treasurer, and a member of the First Division Ministries, Deacons Union, and Helping Aid Convention.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Dickerson Bryant.
Survivors include a daughter, Lureecq Jackson of Starke; a son, Julius Bryant of Jonesville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Zosia Regina Foreman
Zosia Regina Foreman of Gainesville died Thursday in Gainesville. She was 83.
Mrs. Foreman was a paralegal.
Born in Toronto, she moved 14 years ago from Dunnville, Canada to Gainesville.
She belonged to the Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Tosia G. Foreman of Gainesville.
John William Neebling
John William Neebling of High Springs died Friday at the Hospice House of Gainesville after a long illness. He was 55.
Mr. Neebling was a staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force.
Born in Provo, Utah, he moved from Atwater, Calif. to High Springs 28 years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Comfort Neebling of High Springs; three sons, Don Neebling of High Springs, Ramon Neebling of Gainesville and John Owen Neebling of Provo; a brother, James Neebling of Sandy, Utah ; three sisters, Naomi White of Salem, Utah, Joanne Astel of Orem, Utah and Delores Lewis of Sandy; and four grandchildren.
Lucille Farmer
Lucille Farmer of Cross Creek died Saturday in Cross Creek. She was 77.
Mrs. Farmer was born in Washington County, Ind., and moved to Cross Creek from Salem, Ind., in 1973. She was a homemaker, past president of Cross Creek Homemakers and a volunteer with the ladies auxiliary at Shands at Alachua General Hospital.
Mrs. Farmer also was a volunteer guide at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings State Historic Site.
She was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, Earl. D. Farmer, of Cross Creek. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Markson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one son, Dwight Farmer of Gainesville; one sister, Marie Farmer of Bloomfield, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
Martha Eloise Hall
ADEL, Ga. -- Martha Eloise Hall of Adel, Ga., died Saturday in Shands Hospital at the University of Florida following an extended illness. She was 65.
Mrs. Hall was born in Dothan, Ala., and moved to Adel from Archer in 1998.
She was a program assistant at the University of Florida and attended New Life Baptist Church in Adel.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Hall.
Survivors include her parents, David and Virginia Merchant of Adel; two sons, Robert E. Mock of Harrison, Tenn., and Gary Mock of Daytona Beach; one daughter, Patricia "Patty" Holt of Adel; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Edith Mildred Ufland
OLD TOWN -- Edith Mildred Ufland of Old Town died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 73.
Mrs. Ufland was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Old Town from Casselberry 11 years ago. She was a scanning coordinator for Gooding Department Stores and enjoyed painting, fishing, gardening, flowers, crochet and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Ufland of Old Town; three sons, Robert Ufland of Atlanta, Ga., Glen Ufland of Orlando and Kenneth McIntosh of Gainesville; three daughters, Elizabeth Harold of Midland, Texas, Carla Rosso of Casselberry and Carol Torpey of Nipono, Calif; one brother, Edwin Wade of Madison Heights, Mich.; one sister, Shirley Gauthier of Auburn Hills, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Erwin Doyle Williamson
HAMPTON -- Erwin Doyle Williamson of Hampton died Saturday at Hospice of North Central Florida. He was 55.
Mr. Williamson was a lifelong resident of Hampton and was a lifelong resident. He was retired from Gilman Paper Co. and attended Bradford County schools.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Williamson of Hampton; one brother, Charles Williamson of Hampton; and three sisters, Virginia Bradley, Lillian Sams and Gloria Glisson, all of Hampton.
Neal Matthew Dukes
LAKE CITY - Neal Matthew Dukes of Lake City died Thursday at the Lake City Medical Center after a long illness. He was 80.
Mr. Dukes was a retired director of Agricultural Extension Services in Columbia County through the University of Florida. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Born in Dukes, he moved to Lake City 49 years ago.
He graduated from the UF with a bachelor's of science in agriculture.
He was a member of the fellowship Sunday school class and Methodist Men's Club at First United Methodist Church of Lake City, where he was a former treasurer and board chairman.
Mr. Dukes helped start the Columbia County Fair Association, where he was a board member and a former secretary/treasurer.
He was also a past member of the Lake City Lions Club, the Florida Cattleman's Association, the Santa Fe Soil Conservation, Florida Farm Bureau, Florida State Fair Board of Directors, Community Resource Development Committee, Epsilon Sigma Phi and Gamma Sigma Delta fraternities.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Doke Dukes of Lake City; three sons, Kay Dukes and Andy Dukes, both of Lake City, and Eric Dukes of Atlanta; two brothers, Hugh Dukes of Birmingham, Ala., and Carl Dukes of Newberry; a sister, Ethel Harris of La Crosse; and four grandchildren.
L.C. Harris
NEWBERRY - L.C. Harris of Newberry died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 80.
Mr. Harris owned and operated the former L.C. Harris Paving and Construction Co.
Born in Alachua County, he was a lifelong resident of the area.
Mr. Harris was a Baptist.
Survivors include six daughters, Shelby Goode of Fort White, Laverne Ramos of Hudson and Myrleen Holt, Glynda Harris, Gwen Coons and Mary Harris, all of Newberry; a son, Jerry Harris of Alachua; two brothers, Joe Harris of Newberry and J.T. Harris of Gainesville; three sisters, Callie Humphries of Newberry, Clara Baylor of Umatilla and Joyce McDilda of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren.
James S. Hill Sr.
James S. Hill Sr. of Mount Pleasant, S.C., died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 58.
Mr. Hill was a retired banking auditor.
Born in Walterboro, S.C., he moved from Charleston, S.C., to Mount Pleasant 28 years ago.
He enjoyed boating, fishing and being outdoors.
Survivors include a son, James S. Hill of Gainesville; a daughter, Dawn B. Van Alphen of Chicago; two sisters, Ray Frank of Wadmalaw Island, S.C., and May Goodwin of Walterboro; and one grandson.
Wanda Josephs
NEWBERRY - Wanda Josephs of Newberry died Tuesday at Ayers Health and Rehab Center in Trenton. She was 92.
Miss Josephs was a housekeeper.
Born in Ohio, she moved from Fort Lauderdale to Newberry eight years ago.
Miss Josephs was a Catholic.
Survivors include a niece, Victoria Grudowski of Newberry; and two nephews, including James Grudowski of DeBary.
Mary Irene McCarthy
Mary Irene McCarthy of Gainesville died Thursday at Palm Garden of Gainesville. She was 81.
Mrs. McCarthy was a retired administrative assistant in continuing education at the University of Florida. She was a pastry chef several years ago and she was an antique collector and dealer.
Born in Nevada, Iowa, she moved from Bowling Green, Ohio, to Gainesville 24 years ago.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard McCarthy.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Scarbrough of Piqua, Ohio, and Barbara McCarthy of Gainesville; a son, Michael McCarthy of Davis, Calif.; a brother, Robert Hansen of Dysart, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
Dominick Parcelluzzi
Dominick Parcelluzzi of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at AGH. He was 80.
Mr. Parcelluzzi was a retired school crossing guard. He also worked for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Corrections, both in Florida. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was born in Long Island, N.Y., and moved from New York state to Gainesville 31 years ago.
Mr. Parcelluzzi was a member and usher at Lake Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Schaser Parcelluzzi of Gainesville; two sons, James Parcelluzzi of Niceville and Richard Parcelluzzi of California; a daughter, Sandra Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mary Lafaro of Deerfield Beach; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
