Odisea Robinson-Rahn

Odisea Robinson-Rahn of Dover, N.H., died Feb. 1 at her home. She was 79.

A native of Camaguey, Cuba, she lived in Gainesville and New York City before moving to Dover in 1980.

After graduating from the University of Florida, she opened a pharmacy in Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rahn.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Robinson of Dover; a son, Keith Robinson of Abingdon, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Jean E. Bragg

Jean E. Bragg of Gainesville died Saturday at her residence. She was 74.

Mrs. Bragg was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and moved from Jacksonville to Gainesville 22 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Navy Wave. Mrs. Bragg was a Protestant.

Mrs. Bragg was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond B. Bragg.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Earle Roberts of Jacksonville, Gina Walker of Gainesville and Candice B. Henry of Hawthorne; a son brother, Raymond B. "Buster" Bragg Jr. of Jacksonville; and five grandchildren.

Hugh John Stenner

Hugh John Stenner of High Springs died Sunday in Gainesville. He was 85.

Mr. Stenner was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to High Springs from Fort Lauderdale four years ago.

Mr. Stenner worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was Jewish.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hofer of Archer and Isabel Appleby of High Springs; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Margaret Kunselman McKechnie

Margaret Kunselman "Peg" McKechnie of Chiefland died Sunday in Shands Hospital at the University of Florida after a brief illness. She was 83.

Mrs. McKechnie, a homemaker, was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa. She lived in Cincinnati, Trenton, N.J., and Bradenton before moving to Chiefland from Scottsdale, Ariz., 26 years ago.

Mrs. McKechnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chiefland and of the Chiefland Golf and Country Club. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and golfer.

Mrs. McKechnie was preceded in death by her husband, William B. McKechnie Jr., in 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Bill McKechnie III and Donald McKechnie, both of Chiefland.; and a devoted companion, Sassy.

Mary Maxine Cooper

Mary Maxine Cooper of Bronson died Monday at Shands at AGH after an extended illness. She was 79.

She was a homemaker, an avid reader and an animal lover.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Lick Creek, Ky., and moved to Bronson from Baltimore 22 years ago.

She was a member of the Archer Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Castor of Bronson; a brother, Russell Rose of Ashland, Ky.; a sister, Jean DeLong of St. Cloud; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Carol Ann Nelson Fillyaw

LAKE BUTLER - Carol Ann Nelson Fillyaw of Lake Butler died Monday at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville after a brief illness. She was 52.

She was a homemaker.

Born in Gainesville, she lived in Fort Myers before moving to Lake Butler in 1969.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Starke.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Fillyaw, Sr. of Lake Butler; three daughters, Lisa Preski and Ashley Fillyaw, both of Jacksonville, and GaNeene Fillyaw of Lake Butler; two sons, Charles Fillyaw of West Palm Beach and Robert E. Fillyaw Jr. of Lake Butler; two sisters, Claudia Hart and Charlene McAleer, both of Cape Coral; a brother, Ronnie Berry of Cape Coral; and five grandchildren.

James C. Mashburn

James C. Mashburn of Gainesville died Monday after an extended illness.

He was 76.

Born in Resaca, Ga., he moved to Gainesville from Atlanta in 1978.

He was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy and the Army for 24 years.

He was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Harriette Mashburn of Gainesville; a daughter, Elizabeth Mashburn of Gainesville; two sons, Jim Mashburn of Girard, Ohio, and Mike Mashburn of Tullahoma, Tenn.; two sisters, Inez Glass of Smyrna, Ga., and Margaret Simerly of Calhoun, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Robert L. Wilkerson

ALACHUA -- Robert L. Wilkerson died Tuesday at his home in Alachua. He was 60.

Born in Trenton, he moved to Alachua from Lake City 12 years ago.

He was a barber.

Mr. Wilkerson was a Baptist.

Survivors include his companion, Natalye Coker of Alachua; a son, Brian Wilkerson of Biloxi, Miss.; four brothers, Freddie Wilkerson, Mason Wilkerson, C.L. Wilkerson, all of Trenton, and Leon Wilkerson of DeBary; two sisters, Dorothy Pearson of Waverly and Maxine Thomas of Sanford.

Florence Lerline Bowman

Florence Lerline Bowman of Gainesville died Friday at North Florida Rehab and Specialty Care Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Bowman was born in Nashville, Ga., and lived in Palatka before moving to Gainesville in 1947. She was a retired telephone operations supervisor for the American Telephone & Telegraph Co. and had worked as a switchboard operator for the General Services Administration.

Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Alachua General Hospital. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her son, James Thomas Bowman of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, Bill Bishop of Rome, Ga., and a sister, Romealee Hudson of Marietta, Ga.

Robert Edward Reynolds

FAIRFIELD -- Robert Edward Reynolds of Fairfield died July 22 at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 63.

Mr. Reynolds was a clerk for a video store and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by a brother, Clyde Reynolds of Gainesville; and a sister, Violet Mixson of Williston.

The Rev. John L. Renew

LAKE CITY -- The Rev. John L. Renew of Lake City died Thursday at his home after a long illness. He was 69.

Mr. Renew was a minister of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Born in Sylvester, Ga., he moved to Lake City five years ago from DeLeon Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Renew of Lake City; a daughter, Jane Driscoll of Bradenton; two sons, Wesley Renew of Lake City and Bruce Renew of Bartow; three sisters, Thelma Conley of Kissimmee, Mary Jones of Winter Garden and Viola Conley of Moultrie, Ga.; three brothers, Erman Renew of Hudson, Eugene Renew of Clermont and Rufus Renew of Gotha; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Georgia M. Bowens

Georgia M. Bowens of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. She was 46.

Mrs. Bowens was born in Telimore, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Axia, Ga., 34 years ago.

She was a nursing assistant and a graduate of Gainesville High School.

She was a member of the Cohens Temple and the First Born Church of the Living God.

Survivors include a daughter, Metika Ford of Gainesville; a son, George Ford of Gainesville; two sisters, Eliza Rutledge of Gainesville and Ethel Hyler of Blackshear, Ga.; and a brother, Charles James of Valdosta, Ga.

Ulice Grant Crawford

Ulice Grant Crawford of Gainesville died Aug. 19 at North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 89.

Mr. Crawford was born in Crawfordville and moved to Gainesville from Chiefland in 1956.

He was a member of the Southeast 10th Avenue Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bines Crawford; and a son, Lester Crawford.

Survivors include nine daughters, Gwendolyn Young, Judy Warren, Calprina Filer, Brenda Hall, Betty Bell, Mary Davis and Dolly Hill, all of Gainesville, Mary Collins of Fort Lauderdale and Dorothy Anderson of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Willie Crawford Sr. of Gainesville; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Louise Mosca DeConna

Louise Mosca DeConna of Gainesville died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. DeConna was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Gainesville from Micanopy in 1990.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Don DeConna of Gainesville; a daughter, Donna DeConna of San Diego; three sons, Bill DeConna and Vince DeConna, both of Micanopy, and Bill DeConna of Gainesville; a sister, Dorothy Parente of Miami; a brother, Michael Mosca of Englewood; and four grandchildren.
