Treva Ann Marcum
Treva Ann Marcum died Nov. 7 at her residence in Gainesville following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 63.
Ms. Marcum was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and lived in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Gainesville 11 years ago.
She was a registered nurse for 25 years and retired from North Florida Regional Medical Center. She owned nursing homes in Indiana and Ohio. She was also a nursing home administrator. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Ann Hutcheson of Anderson, Ind.; a son, Randy Marcum of Gainesville; and brothers Richard, Thomas and James Lewis, all of Ohio;

Ervin Pasco Taylor
LAKE BUTLER - Ervin Pasco Taylor, a longtime resident of Union County, died Friday at Shands at the University of Florida following a brief illness. He was 70.
Mr. Taylor was a Baptist and a retired heavy-equipment operator with the Union County Road Department.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pauline M. Taylor of Lake Butler; daughters Teresa Tomlinson of Lake Butler, Katie Feagle of Alachua, Faye Luke and Patricia Parrish, both of Providence, Gail Poole of Lake Butler and Yvonne Osborne of Worthington Springs; sons Jerry L. Taylor of Fast Haven, Conn., Gary Taylor of Lake Butler, Greg Taylor of Lake City and Ronald Taylor of Providence; brothers Clarence Taylor of Lake City and Edward Taylor of High Springs; sisters Geneva Bishop of Butler, Ga., and Mary Jones of Trenton; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Walter Roland Welsch
Walter Roland Welsch of Gainesville died Wednesday at the Hospice Care Center. He was 81.
After graduating from New York University, the New York native moved to Gainesville, where he assumed teaching responsibilities in the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida. During his 46-year tenure at UF, he coached scores of athletes. He retired in 1996 as a full professor. He also served as director of the Campus USA Credit Union for 36 years. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve at the rank of lieutenant commander. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Bell Boyd Welsch.
Survivors include daughters Colny Tucker of Eagle River, Alaska, and Elena Welsch of Gainesville; sons Boyd Welsch of Gainesville and Dusty Welsch of Melrose; a sister, Elsie Egger of Cape Coral; and five grandchildren.

Elizabeth B. Smith
Elizabeth B. Smith of Gainesville died Friday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 71.
Mrs. Smith was born in Birmingham, Ala., and was raised in Orlando. She moved to Gainesville from Richmond, Va., in the early 1960s.
She was as school teacher for 40 years, and taught eighth-grade history at Westwood Middle School for years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Gainesville Kennel Club, where she twice served as president. She was an avid Gator fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberts Coles Smith Jr.
Survivors include sons Roberts C. Smith III and Steven G. Smith, both of Gainesville, and David B. Smith of Sarasota; and a grandson, Chandler M. Smith.

Stella Rhodes
Stella Rhodes of Gainesville died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Rhodes was born in Poland and moved to the United States as an infant. She later became a U.S. citizen. She moved to Gainesville from Methuen, Mass.
She worked at Service Wood Heel for 25 years. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida and traveling to Europe, Hawaii and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James L. Rhodes.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Sevigny of Gainesville; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mary Barfield Roberson
LIVE OAK - Mary Odell Barfield Roberson died Friday in Live Oak following an extended illness. She was 87.
The Hamilton County native was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Live Oak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laure Bee Roberson.
Survivors, all of Live Oak, include daughters Marjorie Carmichael and Shirley Wood; sons, Felton Lee Roberson, Laure Bee "Sam" Roberson, Jimmy Roberson and Henry Roberson; a sister, Myrtie Mae Roberson; 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Brian Jeffrey Miller
Brian Jeffrey Miller of Gainesville died Friday in Orange Lake. He was 24.
Born in Orlando, Miller was a construction worker who moved to Gainesville three-and-a-half years ago.
Miller was affiliated with Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Gainesville.
Survivors include his mother and father, Ruth A. Miller of Orlando and Stephen A. Miller of Gainesville; a sister, Catherine Locke of Mary Esther; and two grandmothers, Ruth B. Kosar of Orlando and Marguerite Miller of Charlotte, N.C.
Theodore L. Paulling Jr.
Theodore L. "Teddie Ray" Paulling Jr. of San Mateo died Friday at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. He was 53.
Mr. Paulling was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local No. 1205 of Gainesville.
Born in Hawthorne, he had lived in San Mateo for the last 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie L. Paulling of San Mateo; two sons, Theodore Ray Paulling of High Springs and Joseph Thomas Paulling of Green Cove Springs; a daughter, Traci Marie Paulling of Waldo; a brother Ernest Thomas Paulling of Bell; a sister, Dorothy Ann Paulling of Gainesville; and four grandchildren.
Leslie Y. Stawski
Leslie Y. Stawski of Hollywood, Fla., died in Hollywood Hills Nursing Home on Friday. She was 45.
Born in Oceanside, N.Y., Mrs. Stawski moved to Hollywood from Liberty, N.Y., in 1974.
For 22 years, she worked as an insurance adjuster and supervisor for Oak Casualty Insurance Company in Hollywood.
She was a past commander of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 03-08 in Plantation; past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post 310 in Hallandale; a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2500 and Vietnam Vets Post FL4, both in Hollywood.
Survivors include her husband, John Stawski of Hollywood; her mother, Eleanor Cahill of Gainesville; and two brothers, Gregg Cahill and Wayne Cahill, both of Gainesville.
Helen Geyer Tannehill
Helen Geyer Tannehill of Gainesville died Sunday at Palm Garden Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was 95.
Mrs. Tannehill was a homemaker. Born in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Tannehill had lived in Gainesville since 1978.
Mrs. Tannehill was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Telephone Pioneers of Gainesville.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marion Cricket Club and the Union League of Philadelphia, and she was on the board of directors of the Humane Society in Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray S. Tannehill. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Geneva Harden Witt
Geneva Harden Witt of Lake City died Saturday at Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City after a brief illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Witt, a homemaker, lived in Columbia County since 1914.
She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Lake City; the Lake City Garden Club; the Order of the Eastern Star; the Homemakers Club of Columbia County; and an Elkette of the Lake City Elks Club .
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Witt Thomas of Lake City; her son, Ralph Paul Witt Jr. of Lake City; two sisters, Crill Harden Pearce of Casselberry and Eloise Harden Perkins of Tampa; two brothers, Neville L. Harden of Sanford and Joseph Leroy Harden of Tampa; and seven grandchildren.
Luther E. White
Luther E. "Buddy" White of Gainesville died Saturday at his home. He was 66.
He served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a senior chief petty officer. He then worked 20 years with AT&T; Corp. as a maintenance engineer.
Born in Oklahoma, he had lived in Gainesville since 1979. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor DuVal White of Gainesville; a son, Robert White of Los Angeles; three daughters, Robin White of Orlando, Dr. Bridget Shore of Memphis and Brenda DuVal of Los Angeles; two sisters, Louise Kovalick of Nashville and Marion West of Atlanta; and five grandchildren.
Lori Nicole Anderson
WORTHINGTON SPRINGS -- Lori Nicole Anderson of Worthington Springs died Friday from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Lake Butler. She was 18.
Miss Anderson was a senior at Union County High School. She was employed as a secretary at Union Trucking in Worthington Springs.
She was born in Gainesville, but lived most of her life in Worthington Springs.
Miss Anderson was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs and of Future Farmers of America.
Survivors include her mother, Peggy Barker Anderson of Worthington Springs; her father, Julius J. Anderson of Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, Joshua Anderson of Worthington Springs, Joey Anderson Jr. of High Springs and Jeff Anderson of Cedar Key; three sisters, Dana Pelletier of Clermont, Stephanie Anderson of Worthington Springs and Gina Anderson of Cedar Key; her maternal grandmother, Mary Barker of Worthington Springs; and her paternal grandmother, Edna Anderson of Brunswick.
