Eva Stephens Butterfield

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Eva Stephens Butterfield of Keystone Heights died Friday following a short illness. She was 35.

Born in Gainesville, Mrs. Butterfield moved to Keystone Heights from Hawthorne about six weeks ago. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Stephens.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Butterfield of Oregon; two daughters, Cassie Butterfield and Stephanie Stephens, both of Plant City; two brothers, Frankie W. Stephens and Randy Stephens, both of Hawthorne; two half-brothers, Billy Stephens of Alachua and Jackie Stephens of Hawthorne; a sister, Jeanette Worrell of Plant City; three half-sisters, Hazel Rutledge of Gainesville, Deanna Adams of Keystone Heights, and Helen Stephens of Riverside, Ca.; and her mother, Lauriney Mullins Stephens of Orange Springs.

Alisha Ann Colson

CHIEFLAND - Alisha Ann Colson of Chiefland died unexpectedly Thursday at the North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 17.

Miss Colson was born in Gainesville. She was Baptist.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Jerry Alan and Kim Colson, both of Trenton; her mother and stepfather, Marianne and Michael Dean, both of Chiefland; two brothers, John Colson of St. Augustine and Brett Colson of Trenton; her paternal grandparents, Francis and Jerry Colson, both of Bell; and her maternal grandmother, Dolores Machilaski of Perry.

Evelyn D. DePaul

Evelyn D. DePaul of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 76.

Mrs. DePaul was a homemaker and a volunteer at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

Born in Stoughton, Mass., she moved from Stoughton to Gainesville nine years ago.

She attended Holy Faith Catholic Church and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John DePaul of Gainesville; three daughters, Robyn Bonalwicz of Bridgewater, Mass., and Debra Mulloy and Lynnette DePaul, both of Milford, Mass.; two sons, Ken DePaul of Wake Forest, N.C., and James DePaul of Jaffrey, N.H.; a brother, Robert Tarchara of Stoughton; a sister, Margaret Gomes of Stoughton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ann Elizabeth Halloran

MELROSE - Ann Elizabeth Halloran of Melrose died Friday at Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 65.

Mrs. Halloran was a former employee of First Federal Savings and Loan in Palatka and also was vice president of the Guaranty Federal Savings in Gainesville. She worked at Howard Hall Insurance Agency in Gainesville until 1999.

Born in Cross City, she lived in Gainesville for 31 years before moving to Melrose four years ago.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, the Pilot Club of Gainesville, the Insurance Women of Gainesville, Peace Makers Quilters and Tree City Quilters Guild, and she was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Kathleen Halloran.

Survivors include her husband, Warner N. Halloran of Melrose; a son, Larry Halloran of Mulvane, Kan.; a daughter, Marty Halloran Clark of Gainesville; a brother, Jeff Baughman of Hawthorne; a sister, Nancy Payne of Palatka; four grandchildren and a great-grand- daughter.

Walter Woodrow Malphurs

HIGH SPRINGS - Walter Woodrow Malphurs of High Springs died Friday at his home after a long illness. He was 82.

Mr. Malphurs was a farmer.

Born in the Bland Community of Alachua County, he was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Traxler.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vivian Malphurs of High Springs; eight daughters, Maelease Barry of Alachua; Shirley Stephens, Mary Graver, Janet Malphurs, Nancy Gonzales, Sherry Beckelheimer, Terrie Gaskill and Gerrie Riner, all of High Springs; a sister, Mary Bryan of Alachua; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Emmie Louise Marsh

ALACHUA - Emmie Louise Marsh of Alachua died Thursday at the North Florida Rehab and Specialty Care Center in Gainesville. She was 92.

Mrs. Marsh was born in Atlanta. A homemaker, she lived in West Palm Beach from 1946 until 1974, when she moved to Alachua. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alachua.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar W. Marsh, a daughter, E. Jeanne Atwater, and a grandson, Glenn Marsh.

Survivors include her two sons, John W. Marsh of Alachua and Charles A. Marsh of Miami; six grandchildren, Sheron, Dawn, Brodie, Donald, Jeffrey and Joanna; and four great-grandchildren, Sherri, Rudi, Riley and B.J.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Hospice of North Central Florida or to the First United Methodist Church of Alachua.

Jacob Anthony Schmidt

Jacob Anthony Schmidt of Gainesville died Thursday in Gainesville. He was 15 days old.

Jacob was born in Gainesville.

Survivors include his mother, Angela Christina Schmidt of Gainesville; and his grandparents, Ed and Diane Schmidt of Gainesville, and Martin and Christina Sosso of Cincinnati.

Irma Foster Wilson

ALACHUA - Irma Foster Wilson of Alachua died Thursday at North Florida Specialty Care Center. She was 91.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker.

Born in East Burke, Vt., she moved from St. Johnsbury, Vt., to Alachua 19 years ago.

She was educated at the Lyndon Institute in Lyndonville, Vt.

She was a Protestant.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Hoskinson of Alachua; three grandsons, Tim Hoskinson of Gainesville, Nathan Hoskinson of Melrose and Patrick Hoskinson of Alachua; three granddaughters, Michele Baker of Tampa, Cindy Woodruff of Fort Myers and Karen Strickland of Polk City; and seven great-grandchildren.

Hardy Bell

HIGH SPRINGS - Hardy Bell, a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Nov. 10 at Shands at the University of Florida following a lengthy illness. He was 88.

Mr. Bell was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include nieces Ella Mae Albritton of Somerset, N.J., Fannie Mae Jones of California and Maybell Jones of High Springs; uncles Amos and Monroe Jones, both of High Springs; and his caretakers, Vivian and Cranford Freeney of High Springs.

Stanley Lloyd Curtis

Stanley Lloyd Curtis of Gainesville died Thursday at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton. He was 80.

Mr. Curtis was born in South Connellsville, Pa., and moved to Gainesville from Baltimore in 1986.

He was a condominium manger and an Episcopalian. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, June Curtis of Gainesville; a son, Stan Curtis Jr. of New Freedom, Pa.; a daughter, Jeanne Harvey of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Robert Curtis of Arizona; sisters Clare Ann Turk and Elaine Mascioli, both of Connellsville, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Theodore Duke Evans

Theodore Duke Evans, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 40.

Mr. Evans was the owner and operator of Evans' Pest Control. He enjoyed nature.

Survivors include his partner, Shawn Thomas Wallace of Gainesville; his best friend, Kenny Scott of Gainesville; his parents, Carl and Harriet Evans of Hawthorne; and a brother, Kenneth Carl Evans of Hampton, Va.

Henry Thomas Hatchell

Henry Thomas Hatchell died Thursday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 77.

Mr. Hatchell was born in Florence, S.C., and moved to Gainesville 45 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Florida with a degree in hotel and restaurant management.

He was the former manager of The Primrose Inn Restaurant.

He enjoyed dancing.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jessie and James Parramore of Gainesville; sisters Pete McCall of North Carolina and Francis McGinn of South Carolina; and four grandchildren.
