Beulah O'Steen Evans
Beulah O'Steen Evans of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 94.
Mrs. Evans was a lifelong resident of Alachua County.
She was an assistant office manager with the Florida State Employment Service, where she worked for 27 years. She and her husband were the co-owners of Evans' Fountain, a soda fountain and magazine stand on SE 1st Street near the Hippodrome, which served Gainesville from the 1930s to the 1960s.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She served as a past president of the Pilot Club and treasurer of the Community Service Association. She was also a member of the Senior Bowling League and the Square Dance Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Evans.
Survivors include her companion, Maurice Boekhoudt of Gainesville; sons William C. Evans Jr. and Thomas L. Evans, both of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Maxwell Zalmer Faison
Maxwell Zalmer Faison of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 53.
Mr. Faison was born in West Palm Beach and moved to Gainesville more than 20 years ago.
He was a building contractor in the restoration construction business. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his fiancee, Diane Salveson of Gainesville; a daughter, Renee Faison of Williston; a son, Maxwell Adam Faison of Waldo; his mother, Lou Tincher of Dunnellon; a brother, Jerry Faison of Tampa; and three grandchildren.

Reba Ethlean Douglas Knight
LAKE CITY - Reba Ethlean Douglas Knight died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was 77.
Mrs. Knight was born in Union County and lived in Starke most of her life before moving to Lake City three years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church of Starke.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jasper Sauls; and her second husband, Chuck Knight.
Survivors include sons Leon Sauls of Lake City, James Sauls of Elgin, S.C., and Malcolm Sauls of Callahan; sisters Lottie Knight and Myradell Lee, both of Lake City; a brother, Dewey Douglas of Tallahassee; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

James S. O'Hagan
HAWTHORNE - James Sylvester O'Hagan died Saturday at his residence. He was 44.
Mr. O'Hagan was born in New Haven, Conn., and moved to Hawthorne from Fort Lauderdale four years ago.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a painter for S & S Painting of Hawthorne. He attended the Family Church. He enjoyed martial arts and earned a black belt in karate.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Elizabeth O'Hagan of Gainesville; his parents, Charlie and Theresa O'Hagan of New Haven; and sisters Mary Jane Tremblay of Cheshire, Conn., Margaret Ann O'Hagan-Lynch of Wallington, Conn., and Patricia O'Hagan-Kelly of Weymouth, Mass.

Elaine V. Quincey
CHIEFLAND - Elaine V. Quincey, a lifelong resident of Chiefland, died Tuesday at Gainesville Health Care Center. She was 71.
Mrs. Quincey was a Baptist.
She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Kraus of Chiefland.

Franklin Doty
Former UF Dean Doty dead at 89
Franklin Doty of Gainesville, a former University of Florida administrator and professor, died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 89.
A native of Omaha, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Omaha, majoring in history and French.
He received his master's degree and doctorate from the University of Iowa with majors in American history and political science.
Dr. Doty joined the UF faculty in 1945. He served as dean of University College - composed of the university's freshmen and sophomores - from 1966 until his retirement in 1971.
He continued to teach English to foreign students and lecture in American institutions and humanities for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, retiring at the rank of master sergeant.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and played the pipe organ at many local churches.
Dr. Doty is survived by his caretaker, Jonathan Moser.
Helen Otillia Knapp Bramer
Helen Otillia Knapp Bramer of Sugar Land, Texas, died Wednesday in Houston. She was 90.
Mrs. Bramer was born in Philadelphia and lived in Gainesville from 1963 to 1996 before moving to Texas.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt J. Bramer.
She has no local survivors.
George John Demko
George John Demko of Ormond Beach died June 1 at Ormond Memorial Hospital. He was 62.
A native of Bayonne, N.J., Mr. Demko lived in Archer before moving to Ormond Beach eight months ago.
He was a supervisor for a shipping and receiving company before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Brendans Catholic Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rose Marie Demko of Ormond Beach; a daughter, Ann Marie Demko of Archer; four sons, George John Demko Jr. of Newberry, John Joseph Demko of Alachua, Michael Francis Demko of Gainesville and David Christopher Demko of Archer; a brother, John Demko of Oriental, N.C.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dessie Mae Hicks
LAKE CITY - Dessie Mae Hicks, a lifelong resident of Lake City, died Friday at Willowbrook Assisted Living Facility in Lake City following an extended illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Hicks was a self-employed beautician in her home for many years.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Columbia County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hicks.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Everett and Jo Anne Hicks, Emory Hicks, and Randall and Annette Barber Sr., all of Lake City; and four grandchildren, Trey Hicks, Thomas Barber, Randall Barber Jr. and Joel Barber, all of Lake City.
H. Chester Little
STARKE - H. Chester Little of Starke died Thursday in Starke. He was 83.
Mr. Little was born in Virgie, Ky., and moved to Starke from Newberry in 1981.
He was a mechanical contractor in air conditioning and refrigeration.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Little was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Little.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cline of Newberry; three sons, Jim Little of Newberry, Walt Little of Starke and Larry Little of Gainesville; a sister, Irene Compton of Paintsville, Ky.; three brothers, Bobby Little of Newberry, Ellis Little Jr. of Pikesville, Ky., and Raymond Little of Akron, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Marcia Pearson
MICANOPY - Marcia Pearson died Thursday at her residence in Micanopy. She was 49.
The Klamath Fall, Ore., native was a graduate of Santa Fe Community College School of Nursing.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather Christensen of Miami; and her father, Roland Christensen of Terrebonne, Ore.
