Mr. Webb was a fence builder and a Pentecostal.

Brown and Jacqueline Webb, both of Tampa, and Jacqueline Seymour, Brenda Grant and Carolyn Grant, all of Gainesville; sons Carlos and Michael Webb, Derrick Hutchinson and William and Aaron Grant, all of Gainesville; a sister, Bernice Fulton of Gainesville; brothers Neman, Horace, Joseph and Louis Webb, all of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Forrest Whitcomb
Forrest "Buddy" Whitcomb of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 50.
Mr. Whitcomb was born in Cleveland and moved to Gainesville in 1994.
He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed collecting hats, baseballs and footballs.
Survivors include sisters Beverly Burke of Brook Park, Ohio, and Charlotte Cisco of San Diego; and a brother and sister-in-law, C. Jay and Connie Whitcomb of Gainesville.

Dr. Clarence Derrick
UF professor, liberal arts supporter dies
Dr. Clarence Derrick died Saturday morning at his home in Gainesville. He was 88.
Born in New Britain, Conn., Dr. Derrick moved here from Princeton, N.J., in 1953.
For 40 years, he was a professor and administrator of the University of Florida undergraduates in the University College. He subsequently served in the humanities department. He retired in 1990.
He was a staunch supporter of liberal arts education for undergraduates. His motto, "I am forever learning new things, " exemplified his belief in continued intellectual curiosity.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Derrick of Gainesville; a daughter, Dr. Maria Derrick-Mescua of Tampa; a son, Dr. Tom Derrick of Terra Haute, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Louise D. Hall
JACKSONVILLE - Louise D. Hall of Jacksonville died Friday in Jacksonville. She was 86.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker. She also had worked at the family's Dyess Grocery store and at the post office in Campville.
Born in Campville, she moved from Campville to Jacksonville three years ago.
She was a member of Orange Creek United Methodist Church in Campville.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Mitchell Friedlin of Jacksonville; a sister, Myra D. MacCanon of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Sarah Annette Jackson
WILLISTON - Sarah Annette Jackson died Saturday in Williston. She was 70.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Jackson moved to the area from Titusville eight years ago. She was a Lutheran.
She was a member of the Pilot Club of Titusville, the ABWA and the Women's Golf Association.
Survivors include her husband, James Jackson of Williston; a son, Philip Jackson of Titusville; a daughter, Andrea Cremeans of Williston; a brother, Charles A. Griffin of Fayetteville, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Werner Paul Schuman
HAWTHORNE - Werner Paul Schuman of Hawthorne died Thursday in Gainesville. He was 46.
Mr. Schuman was a vice-president of sales and marketing for Optical Polymer Research Inc. in Gainesville.
He was also a disc jockey for WJLF.
Born in Summit, N.J., he moved from Gainesville to Hawthorne 15 years ago.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne and was a Sunday school teacher and a Little League baseball coach.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie McConnell of Dothan, Ala.; two sons, Austin Schuman and Travis Schuman, both of Gainesville; a brother, Kurt Schuman of Gainesville; and two sisters, Pam Faison and Kitty Buffenmeyer, both of Hawthorne.
Cleveland R. Selph Sr.
JENNINGS - Cleveland R. Selph Sr. of Jennings died Friday in Valdosta, Ga. He was 68.
Mr. Selph was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Hamilton County.
He formerly served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Selph was a member of Burnham Christian Church near Jennings.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sudie Selph of Jennings; a son, Clevie Selph of Jennings; two daughters, Inga Hatch and Leisha Saulter, both of Trenton; four brothers, Marvin Selph and Wallace Selph, both of Jasper, Lawrence Selph of Montgomery, Ala., and H.S. Selph of Lake City; six grandchildren, Keri and Luke Selph, Marie and Johnathan Hatch, and Lee and Stephanie Burns; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Burns.
Nettie Register Stormant
WHITE SPRINGS - Nettie Register Stormant of White Springs died Saturday at the Lake City Medical Center after a long illness. She was 94.
Mrs. Stormant was a former bus driver and cafeteria worker for Hamilton County schools.
She was a lifelong resident of White Springs and was a member of First Baptist Church of White Springs.
Mrs. Stormant was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Stormant; and a daughter, Catherine S. Williams.
Survivors include a daughter, Audrey S. Bullard of Lake City; a son, William F. Stormant of Gainesville; a brother, Bill Register of Riverview; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Florence May Swinford
Florence May Swinford of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 87.
Mrs. Swinford was a retired minister.
Born in Charleston, Ill., she moved from Ocala to Gainesville 10 years ago.
She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include her husband, Norval Swinford of Gainesville; one daughter, Guyla May Thompson of Miami; two grandchildren, Susan Gamble and Connie Hubbard, both of Miami; and two great-grandchildren.
James Afton Burris
LAKE CITY - Chaplain James Afton Burris died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Mr. Burris was born in Aaron, Mo., and received his bachelor's degree from Drury College and a master's in divinity from Garret Theological Seminary at Northwestern University. He was instrumental in the founding of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City.
He received the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with two clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Army Commendation Ribbon for his service as a chaplain in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Moore Burris.
Survivors include a daughter, Thalia Ann Powell of Little Rock, Ark.; sons C. Marvin Burris of Lake City, James L. Burris of Little Rock and Jack M. Burris of Atlanta; a sister, Opal Tabor of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Myrtice Angeline Davis
ORANGE HEIGHTS - Myrtice Angeline Davis, a lifelong resident of Orange Heights, died Tuesday at her son's residence. She was 86.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Orange Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Allen Davis; and sons Huey and William Godwin.
Survivors include sons Alic S. and Willard M. Davis, both of Orange Heights, and Richard Davis of Gainesville; daughters Virginia Lucille Coggins of Hawthorne and Barbara Ann Turlington of Interlachen; a sister, Minnie Lou Holder of Gainesville; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
