Quincy E. Gardner
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Quincy E. Gardner of Keystone Heights died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 78.
A native of Kansas, Mr. Gardner moved to Keystone Heights in 1960.
He was a retired automotive instructor at the Bradford-Union Area Vocational-Technical Center and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. He was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church and AmVets Post No. 86 in Keystone Heights.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Gardner, and a daughter, Carol Lineback.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Drew of Lady Lake; a son, Edward Gardner of Lake Geneva; five grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.
Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Melrose United Methodist Church.
James Delk Leland
WILLISTON -- James Delk Leland of Williston died Monday in Williston. He was 77.
Mr. Leland was born in St. Petersburg and moved to Williston 18 years ago.
He was a retired FBI employee, and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Williston.
Survivors include his wife, Winona Leland of Williston; two daughters, June Leland of Tampa and Laura Leland of Gulf Port; four sons, James A. Leland of Williston, Frederick Mike and Anthony Mike, both of Tampa, and Michael Mike of Hernando; a sister, Mary Eleanor Leland of St. Petersburg; a brother, Robert J. Leland of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Fernanda Peterson
Fernanda Peterson, formerly of Gainesville, died at her home in Denver on June 14 from cancer. She was 84.
Mrs. Peterson lived in Gainesville from 1973 to 1996, during which time she was head of voter services of the League of Women's Voters, and president of the United Nations Association.
She was active in the Mental Health Association, Friends of the Library, the American Association of University Women, a French conversation group of the University Women's Club and Tuesday Group.
She is survived by her sister, Franca Nati of Rome; a son, Michael Peterson of St. Louis; two daughters, Patricia Peterson of Denver and Giuliana Davidoff of South Hadley, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Roy Albert Piezinsky
Roy Albert Piezinsky of Gainesville died April 28 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 85.
Mr. Piezinsky was born in Hoboken, N.J., and moved to Gainesville several years ago.
He received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal for his service in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a building contractor and a member of the Pentecostals of Gainesville, the Fleet Reserve, the Tri-States Naval Ship No. 7241, the Lions Club and the Elks Club No. 645 in Port Jervis, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Sister Louise Cain Piezinsky of Gainesville and the Florida Keys; three daughters, Leslie Rogers Newman of Middletown, N.Y., Diedre Rogers Ruppert of Houston and Joyce Piezinsky Latham of Littleton, Colo.; four stepdaughters; five stepsons; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bryce Patrick Gay
Bryce Patrick Gay, the 19-day-old infant of Lindsy and Eric Gay of Raiford, died Friday at Shands at the University of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Bryce is survived by his maternal grandparents, Pat and Nevin Graham Jr. of Lake City; his paternal grandparents, Robin and Clenton Gay of Raiford; his maternal great-grandparents, Thomas and Maggie Moore of Raiford, and Virginia and Nevin Graham Sr. of Lake City; his paternal great-grandmother, Nelline Gay of Eastman, Ga.; and several aunts and uncles.
Isabelle Margaret Haynes
Isabelle Margaret Haynes of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Haynes was born in Cincinnati and moved to Gainesville from Dania in 1985. She was a homemaker and an honorary lifetime member of Eastern Star No. 44.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ward No. 1.
Survivors include a daughter, Beth Bloodsworth of Hawthorne; two sons, Frank G. De Riancho of Montrose, Pa., and Jud S. Hine of Hawthorne; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Carol A. Henderson
Carol A. Henderson of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH. She was 89.
Mrs. Henderson was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and came to Gainesville from Tampa nine years ago.
She was an admitting clerk at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Chambers of Hawthorne; two sons, James Henderson of Tallahassee and Robert Henderson of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Perry Owens Jenkins
BRANFORD - Perry Owens Jenkins, a longtime resident of Branford, died at his home Friday. He was 52.
Mr. Jenkins was a truck driver in the construction industry. He attended Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sisters, Mary E. Welch and Estelle Bass, both of Branford, Linda Jenkins of Lake City, Shirley Dickert of Cross City, Lavinia Yopp of Sebring and Betty Lou Davis of Winter Haven; six brothers, Dewey Jenkins of Brooker, Billy Ray Jenkins of Fort White, Danny Jenkins of Whigham, Ga., and James "Slim" Jenkins, John Jenkins and Frank Jenkins, all of Branford.
William M. Lawson
William M. Lawson of Gainesville died Monday at his home after an extended illness. He was 64.
Mr. Lawson was born in Nanaflai, Ala., and came to Gainesville from Fruitland Park in 1996. He received a master's degree in history from the University of Alabama.
He was the owner of five McDonald's restaurants in Central Florida. He had served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Lawson of Gainesville; his mother, Evelyn Lawson of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a son, W. Clayton Lawson of Gainesville; three daughters, Julie Jowett of Ocean Springs, Missy Lawson of Gainesville and Amy Lawson of Gainesville; a brother, Jerry Lawson of Ocean Springs; two sisters, Willine Fayard and Christine Hawley, both of Ocean Springs; and three grandchildren.
LaRoy F. Duckworth
LaRoy F. Duckworth of Gainesville died unexpectedly Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 67.
Mr. Duckworth was a retired master chief in the U.S. Coast Guard. He also was a retired rancher and farmer.
Born in Half Moon, in Alachua County, he was a lifelong resident of the area.
He graduated from Archer High School and received an associate of science degree from Santa Fe Community College.
Mr. Duckworth was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Suggs Duckworth of Gainesville; three sons, David Tindalecq and Blake Duckworth, both of Gainesville, and Brent Duckworth of Palm Harbor; a daughter, Sue D. Wilhelm of Gainesville; a sister, Mary D. Hodge of Gainesville; and four grandchildren.
Terri Jo Bernier Bass
ALACHUA -- Terri Jo Bernier Bass of Alachua died Friday from injuries received in an auto accident Thursday on Interstate 75 north of Gainesville. She was 22.
Mrs. Bass was a waitress at Texas Roadhouse restaurants in Gainesville and Lake City.
Born in St. Paul, Minn., she moved from Fort White to Alachua six months ago. She graduated from Hinckley-Finlayson High School in Hinckley, Minn.
She attended the New Life Christian Center in Lake City.
Survivors include her husband, Nathan P. Bass of Alachua; her parents, Richard and Linda Berniercq of Hinckley; a sister, Kelly Eviston of Minneapolis, Minn.; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Linda LaPlante of Danbury, Wis.; and her paternal grandparents, Richard and Patricia Bernier of Hinckley and Donald and Phyllis Rathburn of Fort White.
Virginia Ruth Johnson
Virginia Ruth "Jean" Johnson of Gainesville died Friday at Hospice House after a long illness. She was 79.
Mrs. Johnson was a registered nurse and first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II in England and France.
Born in Bradenton, she moved from Pensacola to Gainesville 52 years ago.
She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Edward Johnson of Gainesville; a daughter, Suzanne Twedell of Thomasville, Ga.; a son, Edward Austin Johnson of Archer; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
