Sol Edward Martin Jr.
ARCHER -- Sol Edward Martin Jr. of Archer died in an automobile accident Friday. He was 20.
Mr. Martin was born in Gainesville and lived in Archer for most of his life. He was a computer analyst and a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church in Archer.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Jessica Brown of Gainesville; a son, Jerrel Brown of Gainesville; parents, Rhonda Martin and Sol Martin Sr. of Archer; a brother, Tywarn Martin of Gainesville; and his grandparents, Rosie Sessions and Willie Sessions of Gainesville.
Lizzie Mae Richardson
Lizzie Mae Richardson of Gainesville died March 2 at Shands at the University of Florida following a brief illness. She was 70.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Suwannee County and moved to Gainesville 50 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Female Protection Lodge No. 1. She also was a member of the Church of God by Faith, where she served as a member of the home mission.
Survivors include her husband, Sloan Richardson of Gainesville; four daughters, Deborah Richardson, Valerie Harden, Evelyn Henderson and Kaytrina Richardson, all of Gainesville; three sisters, Bertha Thomas of New York City, N.Y., Janie Washington of Alachua and Retha Hatcher of Gainesville; two brothers, Andrew Davis and Howard Davis, both of Orlando; and two grandchildren.
Joe Rim Sr.
ARCHER -- Joe Rim Sr., a lifelong resident of Archer, died Tuesday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 93.
Mr. Rim was a retired a U.S. Railroad employee. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include three daughters, Lucy Rim Durant and Luethel Chisolm, both of Archer, and Lola Ramsey of Ocklawaha; three sons, Louis Rhim of Hawthorne, Johnel Rim of Perry and Joe Rim Jr. of Archer; three stepdaughters, Jersey Bell Simpson of Archer, Mary Welch of Newberry and Martha Rowe of Gainesville; 40 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.
Caretha Armour
Caretha Armour of Gainesville died Tuesday in her home following an extended illness. She was 75.
Mrs. Armour was born in Thomasville, Ga., was raised in Alachua and moved to Gainesville in 1989. She was executive committeewoman of the Disabled American Veterans Women's Auxiliary for 10 years. She attended Johnson Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Armour of Gainesville; a son, Ralph Durant-Armour of Gainesville; five daughters, Mildred Wright of Crofton, Md., Judy Prater of Elizabeth, Ky., Zettie Armour of Phoenix, Ariz., Vendrea Armour of Denver and Verdell Dukes of Phoenix; five sisters, Mozell DeCoursey, Parthiner DeCoursey, Modina Smith, Louise Cohen and Palace Henry, all of Gainesville; five brothers, Mathew DeCoursey, Malachi DeCoursey, Walter DeCoursey and Joe Willie DeCoursey, all of Gainesville, and Joel DeCoursey of Pompano Beach; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Lawrence L. Arrington
CITRA -- Lawrence L. Arrington of Citra died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 79.
Mr. Arrington retired as a roofing contractor. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. Born in West Palm Beach, he moved from Fort Lauderdale to Citra 25 years ago.
He was a member of Citra Baptist Church, the North Central Florida Chapter of Ex-POWs and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4209 in Ocala.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Hardewigcq Arrington of Citra; a son, Paul Arrington of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Maye Arrington of San Antonio.
Robert Lee Crider
Robert Lee Crider of Daytona Beach died at his home Saturday. He was 60.
Mr. Crider was born in Tallahassee and moved to Daytona Beach six years ago. He was a typesetter for the News-Journal in Daytona Beach.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Wittenberg of Wellborn; two sons, Randal L. Crider and Ronald Crider, both of Live Oak; a sister, Betty Fewox of Jena; a brother, Dock Crider of Jennings; and eight grandchildren.
Frances Evelyn Grandoff
TRENTON -- Frances Evelyn Grandoff of Trenton died Friday at her summer home in Waynesville, N.C. She was 83.
A native of Judson, Mrs. Grandoff lived in Tampa for many years before returning to Judson in 1965.
She was president and chairwoman of the board of Grandoff Investments Inc., chairwoman of the board of Tri-County Bank, a former chairwoman of Tri-County Nursing Home and a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Grandoff; and a son, Bernard Grandoff.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Grandoff Hickey of Tampa; a brother, Nathan "Bo" Kidd; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Cornelia Harrell
Cornelia Harrell of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at AGH following a heart attack. She was 57.
Ms. Harrell was a retired dispatch clerk who had worked for Southern Bell for about 30 years. She was a native of Gainesville.
She enjoyed the art of ceramic-making, outdoor gardening, fishing and the company of her pets.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Chesser Harrell, and her father, John Russell Harrell.
Survivors include her sister, Audry Beebe of Gainesville, and her brother, Craig Harrell of Alachua.
James Richardson
James Richardson of Gainesville died Sept. 13 at Shands at AGH after a lengthy illness. He was 84.
A native of St. Augustine, Mr. Richardson had lived in Gainesville for the last 60 years.
He was a retired brick mason, and oversaw maintenance at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he was on the board of stewards and the administrative council and was the van driver for the church. He also was a member of United Methodist Men.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Richardson of Gainesville; four daughters, Catherine Head, Irene Williams, Minister Angela Thomas and Betty Jones, all of Gainesville; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Albert F. Schroeder
Albert F. Schroeder of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville. He was 75.
Mr. Schroeder was born in Gasport, N.Y., and moved to Gainesville from Boston.
He was a retired electrician of Local No. 41 in Buffalo, N.Y. He received the Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Western New York Outdoor Pistol League, the Flying Gators of Gainesville and the Fort White Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine M. Schroeder of Gainesville; a daughter, Patricia Todd of Micanopy; a son, Michael Schroeder of Tampa; two sisters, May Brown of Gasport and Melinda Schroeder of New York City; and three grandsons, Lucas, Devin and Nathan.
Virginia Geiser Chelf
Virginia Geiser Chelf of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
She was 89.
Mrs. Chelf was a homemaker.
Born in Louisville, Ky., she lived in Lebanon, Ky., for 44 years before moving from Sellersburg, Ind., to Gainesville 25 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Clarence C. Chelf.
Survivors include three sons, Don M. Chelf of Tampa, Fred M. Chelf of Gainesville and Bruce M. Chelf of Streamwood, Ill.; a sister, Lelah G. Berry of San Rafael, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alfred Ditzler
MELROSE -- Alfred Ditzler of Melrose died Sunday at his home.
He was 102.
Mr. Ditzler was a retired waiter and lumberjack.
Born in Basil, Switzerland, he moved from Gowanda, N.Y., to Melrose nine years ago.
He was a member of First Assembly of God in Keystone Heights and of the Waiters' Union.
Mr. Ditzler was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Ditzler; and a stepson, Paul Ditzler.
Survivors include his caregivers of 20 years, David and Lorna Gagnon of Melrose.
Margie Cassidy Holstun
JACKSONVILLE -- Margie Cassidy Holstun of Jacksonville died Sunday in Jacksonville after a long illness.
She was 70.
Mrs. Holstun was a homemaker.
Born in Gainesville, she lived in Lake City numerous years before moving to Jacksonville 13 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, Patterson W. Holstun of Jacksonville; two sons, the Rev. Tim Cassidy and Patrick Cassidy, both of Lake City; two daughters, including Teresa Hall of Lake City; three brothers, including Russell Woodard of Micanopy and Bill Woodard of Gainesville; a sister; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
