CROSS CITY -- Gladys VanAernam, a lifelong resident of Cross City, died Tuesday at Shands at AGH.
Mrs. VanAernam worked as a waitress. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in her garden. She also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ellen Desmore of Madison, Tina Burk of Cross City and Janet Prevatt of Branford; two sons, Glenn Adams and Stanley Adams, both of Branford; a sister, Helen Forehand of Cross City; seven brothers, Richard Cannon of Old Town, Herbert Cannon, Jerry Cannon, Raleigh Cannon, Thomas Cannon and Michael Cannon, all of Cross City, and Jimmy Cannon of Tarpon Springs; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Esaw Bradley Sr.
Esaw Bradley Sr. died Monday at his Gainesville residence after a brief illness. He was 76.
Mr. Bradley was born in Allendale, S.C., and moved to Gainesville in 1939.
He retired in 1988 from State Plastering Co. as a master plasterer.
He was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and a custodian. He was a member of the Usher Board for 51 years, serving as president for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Louise Robinson Bradley of Gainesville; a daughter, Jo Ann Rollins-Atwaters of Gainesville; two sons, Esaw Bradley Jr. and Michael L. Powers, both of Gainesville; two sisters, Mary Myrick and Georgia Ann Burgess, both of Gainesville; two brothers, Charlie Bradley Sr. and Lucius Bradley, both of Gainesville; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
David Cheesborough
NEWBERRY -- David Cheesborough, a lifelong resident of Newberry, died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 90.
Mr. Cheesborough was a retired custodian for the University of Florida.
He was educated in the public schools of Alachua County.
He was a member of Mount Zura Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, D. Gerald Cheesborough of Newberry; two sisters, Thelma Powell of Detroit and Jessie Simpson of Fort Myers; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Leatha Mae Johnson
Leatha Mae Johnson, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Wednesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 72.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Compassionate Outreach Ministry.
Survivors include two stepsons, Supreme Johnson and Willie Clyde Johnson, both of Gainesville; three sisters, Curtis Given, Mary Lee Cotman and Marie Mulberry, all of Gainesville; and 13 grandchildren.
Oreatha Wright Moore
Oreatha Wright Moore of Gainesville died Friday at the residence of her daughter after a lingering illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker. She was educated through the public schools of Alachua County.
She was a member of the SE 10th Avenue Church of Christ.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore Sr.
Survivors include four daughters, Oretha M. Walker and Gwendolyn M. Ford, both of Gainesville, Gail M. Dowdell of St. Petersburg and Patricia M. Hartley of Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, Robert Moore Jr. of Detroit and Johnny Moore Sr. of Gainesville; a sister, Mary L. Newsome of Orlando; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Herbert A. Ramsdell
CHIEFLAND -- Herbert A. "Bill" Ramsdell of Chiefland died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Ramsdell was born in Highland Township, Mich., and moved to Chiefland from Spring City, Tenn., 20 years ago.
He retired from Dupont Paint as a factory worker after 21 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Leila Ramsdell of Trenton; a daughter, Linda Rainford of Old Town; three sons, David Ramsdell of Chiefland, James Hamilton of Trenton and Larry Stevens of Grayling, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Gayle Spicher Reinsch
JACKSONVILLE -- Gayle Spicher Reinsch of Jacksonville died of cancer Monday at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. She was 51.
Born and reared in the Pennsylvania Dutch country, she eventually moved to Gainesville, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Florida with a master's of arts degree in German. She was a member of the Order of the Coif from the UF College of Law.
She was a German instructor at UF and later became a practicing attorney at Smith, Hulsey and Busey.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Reinsch of Jacksonville; two daughters, a son, her father and a sister.
Shirley J. Swindall
Shirley J. Swindall of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida after an extended illness. She was 60.
She was born in Orlando. Mrs. Swindall graduated from Gainesville High School in 1957. She retired from medical records in Mental Health Services.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lamar Fitzgerald; and a son, Gary Fitzgerald.
Survivors include her husband, Ira Swindall of Gainesville; two daughters, Sharon Rhymes of Deltona and Susan McElwain of Jacksonville; a son, Greg Fitzgerald of Gainesville; her mother, Orpha Lee Taylor of Gainesville; two sisters, Linda Black and Augusta Previc of Gainesville; a brother, Sam Taylor of Owenton, Ky; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit Fund at Shands at UF.
Frank Thomas Ammirato Sr.
REDDICK -- Frank Thomas Ammirato Sr. of Reddick died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 66.
Mr. Ammirato was born in Brooklyn and moved to Reddick from Fort Lauderdale in 1981.
He was the owner and operator of Winning Ways Farm. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carmela Ammirato of Reddick; three sons, Santo Ammirato of Fairfield, Nick Ammirato of Brooklyn and Frankie Ammirato Jr. of Starke; and five grandchildren.
Helen Britton
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Helen Britton of Keystone Heights died Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville following an extended illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Britton was from in Green County, Tenn., and moved to Keystone Heights from Jacksonville in 1989.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Britton of Keystone Heights; two sons, Michael L. Britton of Keystone Heights and James H. Britton of Jacksonville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Charles Haddock Jr.
Charles Haddock Jr. of Gainesville died Tuesday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. He was 95.
A native of Belfast, Ireland, Mr. Haddock immigrated to America in 1910. He moved to Gainesville from Ormond Beach three years ago.
He was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Martha Renn Haddock of Gainesville; two daughters, Charlotte Morris of North Haven, Conn., and Elaine Doolittle of Gainesville; a sister, Gloria Lawrence of Ormond Beach; a brother, Albert Haddock of Branford, Conn.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Clarence Edward Harris
OLD TOWN -- Clarence Edward Harris of Old Town died Sunday in Old Town. He was 74.
Mr. Harris was born in Locoochee and moved to Old Town from Homosassa in 1987.
He was a former Citrus County sheriff. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid private pilot. He was a member of the Jopa Masonic Lodge No. 4 in Old Town.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Harris of Old Town; a daughter, Joyce Ricketson of Homosassa; three sons, John Harris of Great Galls, S.C., Floyd Harris of Homosassa and David Harris of Dade City; his mother, Eva Harris of Trilby; two brothers, Walter Harris of Trilby and James Harris of Dade City; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Lonnajane May
OLD TOWN -- Lonnajane May of Old Town died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 66.
Mrs. May was born in Mason, Mich., and moved to Old Town 10 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
Survivors include her companion, Wayne Hulett of Old Town; a daughter, Kimberly Greenlee of Mason; and two sisters, Patricia Shultis of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Evelyn Dranz of Mason.
