Charles Richardson
Charles Richardson of Gainesville died Saturday at Sunbridge Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was 64.
Mr. Richardson was born in Alachua and lived in Gainesville for 35 years. He was a mechanic for the city of Gainesville and attended Alachua Training School.
He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Richardson of Gainesville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony Richardson and wife Claretha of Miami, and Alvin Richardson of Orlando; a sister and a brother-in-law, Retha Gaskin and husband Norman of Gainesville; and a brother, George Richardson of Alachua.
Helen Irene Clay Latimer Shaw
LACROSSE -- Helen Irene Clay Latimer Shaw died Wednesday at her residence in LaCrosse. She was 68.
Mrs. Shaw was born in Hohenwald, Tenn., and moved to LaCrosse from Murray, Ky., in 1974.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hazel Baptist Church in Murray, Ky.
Survivors include her husband, Madison Leland Shaw of LaCrosse; a daughter, Charlene Star McWherter of Murray; a son, Calvin Clay Latimer of Detroit; two grandsons, David Shey McWherter and Michael Sean McWherter, both of Murray; and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Alisa McWherter.
Carlos C. Erwin
Carlos C. Erwin died Friday at his residence in Gainesville.
He was 88.
A native of Kentucky, he moved to Gainesville from Dowling Park last year.
Dr. Erwin was a retired University of Kentucky professor.
He was a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Erwin Kinton; a sister, Eupal Erwin Underwood; and a grandson, Brett Kinton.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cooper Erwin of Gainesville; a daughter, Brenda Jane Fuller of Kentucky; two sisters, Opal Erwin Rogers and Ruby Erwin Howe, both of Kentucky; a brother, Otis Hampton Erwin of Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Matthew Fuller, Andrew Fuller and Jonathan Fuller, Brian Kinton and Anne Kinton.
Bernice Marie Frost
Bernice Marie Frost died Thursday at her residence in Gainesville.
She was 76.
Mrs. Frost was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.
She was a church bookkeeper and a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Frost of Gainesville; a daughter, Ann Kincheloe of Micanopy; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Una Dearborn
Una Dearborn died Thursday at her residence in Gainesville.
She was 89.
Mrs. Dearborn was born in Belmont, N.H., and moved to Gainesville in 1979.
She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She was a volunteer nurse's aide during World War II.
Mrs. Dearborn traveled extensively throughout the United States and spent two years in Japan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, John Walstrom, who died in 1974.
At the age of 77 she married
her high school sweetheart, Clarence Dearborn, who died in 1989. Her son, Dirk Walstrom, died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Randy Carter of Gainesville; and three grandchildren, Jeff Carter, Nona Carter and Tim Carter, all of Gainesville.

Frank Birt Morrison
Frank Birt Morrison of Gainesville died Thursday in Gainesville.
He was 84.
Mr. Morrison was born in Hawthorne and moved to Gainesville from West Palm Beach 20 years ago.
He was an assistant supervisor of Communications and Signals at Seaboard Coastline Railroad.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, returning from North Africa and Italy at the rank of major.
He was a member of the McNott Masonic Lodge of Hawthorne and the First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne.
Mr. Morrison graduated from the University of Florida.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Morrison Donnelly.
He is survived by a cousin, Dr. Robert R. Morrison of Hawthorne.
Paul C. Stark
MELROSE - Paul C. Stark died Thursday at his residence in Melrose.
He was 72.
Mr. Stark owned and operated the Gainesville Telephone Answering Service and Stark Communications for 35 years.
He retired in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teressa Stark.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Gainesville Power Squadron and the Gulf Atlantic Yacht Club.
He sailed around the world in 1998 as part of the crew racing in a 'Round the World Rally.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Gail Stark of Pensacola and Kate Stark of Newberry; two sons, Marshall Stark and Paul Stark Jr., both of Gainesville; and five grandchildren., Daniel Stark, Rebecca Stark, Jordanne Stark, Cory Stark and Garrett Stark.
Truman Clifford Werner
ALACHUA - Truman Clifford Werner of Alachua died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
He was 73.
Mr. Werner was born in Wittenburg, Mo., and moved to Alachua from Tavinier Key in 1980.
He was a retired charter boat captain and a Methodist.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla Boyle of Gainesville; a son, Wayne Werner of Galliano, La.; and five grandchildren, Jamaica Gross, Dustin Gross, Marshall Gross, Nicholas Werner and Andrew Werner.
J. Min Ayers
Ayers served in House and Senate
TRENTON - J. Min Ayers of Trenton, former Florida House and Senate representative, died Saturday at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Ayers owned, edited and published the Gilchrist County Journal. He also served three terms in the Florida House of Representatives in the 1930s and '40s and two terms in the Florida Senate in the 1950s.
Born in Rosewood, he moved from Bronson to Trenton at a young age. He graduated from Williston High School.
He was a Paul Harris Fellow, a charter member and honorary member of the Trenton Rotary, a member of the Gilchrist County Chamber of Commerce, and of the Trenton United Methodist Church. He was honored as Gilchrist County Citizen of the Year.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Thompson Ayers of Trenton; a daughter, Elizabeth Ayers Craig of Light House Point; a son, John M. Ayers II of Trenton; a sister, Mildred Smith of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren.
Carrie Sue Miller Carter
Sevierville, Tenn. - Carrie Sue Miller Carter died Friday in Sevierville, Tenn., following an extended illness. She was 62.
Mrs. Carter was born in Hampton, Tenn., and moved to Sevierville from Daytona Beach. She was a Baptist and a retired waitress for the Holiday Inn in Daytona Beach.
Local survivors include her mother, Mae Miller of Starke; a brother, John M. Miller of Starke; two sisters, Connie Best and Phyllis Rosier, both of Starke.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Starke.
