Camilla C. Mansur

Camilla C. Mansur died Sunday at her residence in Holiday. She was 73.

Mrs. Mansur was born in Jacksonville and raised in Gainesville. She moved to Holiday from St. Simon's Island, Ga., in 1986.

She was an executive secretary for Rockwell International. She was a former elementary school teacher for Dixie County School Corps.

She graduated from Stetson College in 1947.

Mrs. Mansur was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in New Port Richey and a member of Tri-Delta Sorority.

She was the secretary for the Department of College Work for the Episcopal Churches at the national headquarters in New York City.

Survivors include her husband, Richard W. Mansur of Holiday; a daughter, Buff Mair of Safety Harbor; a son, Richard W. Mansur Jr. of Puyallup, Wash.; a brother, Max Callahan of St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren and three great- grand-children.

Elmer Arlie Rimes

Elmer Arlie Rimes of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH following an extended illness. He was 83.

Mr. Rimes was born in Sarasota and moved to Gainesville from Plant City five years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Gainesville.

Survivors include four sons four, Andy Rimes of Dalton., Ga., Lawrence Rimes of Gainesville, Elmer Rimes Jr. of Oglethorpe, Ga., and Harold Rimes of Plant City; four daughters, Diann Roberson, Donna Jones and Natalie Reid, all of Gainesville, and Gayle Easton of Mattoon, Ill.; a brother Marcus Earl Rimes of Live Oak; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Hospice of North Central Florida.

Norma Tyson Sikes

Norma Tyson Sikes of Augusta, Ga., died Monday at Doctors Hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Sikes was born in Hawthorne and moved to Augusta, Ga., 45 years ago.

She was a retired educator and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry E. Stults of Augusta and James Sikes of Hawthorne; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the First Baptist Church of Augusta.

John Emery Swearingen

MELROSE -- John Emery Swearingen of Melrose died Friday at his home. He was 84.

Mr. Swearingen was born in Gainesville and was a lifelong resident of Alachua County. He was an agronomy technician at the University of Florida.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Kidd of Cedartown, Ga.; three sons, Robert Hyatt Bache of High Springs, William A. Bache of Archer and J. Emery Swearingen Jr. of Gainesville; a sister, Shirley Gregory of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida.

Otis Cleveland Yawn

MICANOPY -- Otis Cleveland Yawn of Micanopy died Saturday in Gainesville. He was 80.

Mr. Yawn was born in Milan, Ga., and grew up in Florida, moving to Micanopy in 1954. He was a barber, and he sold insurance. He was a member Flemington Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Yawn of Micanopy; a daughter, Nancy Veteto of Orlando; three sons, Wayne Jefferson Yawn and James C. Yawn, both of Micanopy, and William Lamar Yawn of Urbandale, Iowa.; a brother, William H. Yawn of Gainesville; a sister, Christine Hancock of Belleview; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Flemington Baptist Church Building Fund, 18250 NW 100th Ave. Road, Micanopy, FL 32667.

Alan Brett Young

Alan Brett Young of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH following an extended illness. He was 32.

Mr. Young was born in Gainesville, was a student at Santa Fe Community College and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his father, Albert Blake Young of Gainesville; his stepmother, Patricia Young of Gainesville; his maternal grandparents, Elster and Logene Varney of Belfry, Ky.; and a sister, Kimberly Maxwell of Newberry.

Joyce Rhoden Branum

MELROSE -- Joyce Rhoden Branum of Melrose died Friday at Shands at the University of Florida after a long illness. She was 58.

Mrs. Branum was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Born in Macclenny, she moved from Santa Rosa Beach to Melrose 15 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, James L. Branum of Melrose; a daughter, Deirdre "Dee" Branum of Melrose; a son, James L. Branum Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers, Delma L. Rhoden of Middleburg, and Cecil H. Rhoden and Randall G. Rhoden, both of Macclenny; two sisters, Inez Johnson of Jacksonville and Beatrice Dugger of Crawfordville; and three grandchildren.

Virgil Browning

Virgil Browning of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville. He was 96.

Mr. Browning was a farmer and was born in Delaware County, Ind.

He moved from Tifton, Ga., to Gainesville 11 years ago.

He was a Mason and a member of the Lions Club and Ridgeview Baptist Church.

Mr. Browning was preceded in death by his wife, Elma E. Browning.

Survivors include a son, V. Douglas Browning of Gainesville; a brother, Paul W. Browning of Tierston, Ind.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert Allen Byars

Robert Allen Byars of Gainesville died Saturday at his home of pancreatic cancer. He was 60.

Mr. Byars was a maintenance mechanic at the University of Florida's physical plant at the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Born in Miami, he moved from Miami to Gainesville seven years ago.

He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Byars of Gainesville; a son, Toby Byars of Gainesville; two daughters, Judy Cain of Newport News, Va., and Jamie Tinner of Niceville; a sister, Coralu Clements of Gainesville; and six grandchildren.

Minnie Beatrice Taylor Heagles Cherry

ALACHUA -- Minnie Beatrice Taylor Heagles Cherry of Alachua died Wednesday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Cherry was born in High Springs and moved to Alachua in 1941.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Nevada Heagles-Morris of New Smyrna Beach and St. Elmo Cherry-Clark of Alachua; a stepdaughter, Alberta Daniels of St. Petersburg; two stepsons, the Rev. Benny T. Cherry of San Antonio, Texas, and James H. Cherry of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Ulysses Lovett of West Palm Beach and C.J. Robinson of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Wallace Corbin

CROSS CITY -- Wallace Corbin of Cross City died Friday at the Cross City Rehab Center. He was 68.

Mr. Corbin was a retired heavy-equipment operator.

He was a lifelong resident of Dixie and Lafayette counties.

Mr. Corbin was a member of the Lafayette County Hunting Club.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Newman of Salem and Glenda Valentine of Perry; two stepsons, Earl Pendarvis of Cross City and Dennis Pendarvis of Newberry; two stepdaughters, Lisa Anguish of Trenton and Brenda Everett of Old Town; three sisters, Bertie Hines of Cross City, Pauline Ridgeway of Trenton and Mamie Lou Virpsa of Jena; and three grandchildren.

Lisa L. Johnson

Lisa L. Johnson of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH. She was 43.

Mrs. Johnson was a registered respiratory therapist at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

Born in Bloomington, Ill., she moved from Williston to Gainesville 26 years ago.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of United Church of Gainesville, the Florida Society of Respiratory Care, the American Association of Respiratory Care, Homemakers of America, and the OBSC Motorcycle Club.

Survivors include her husband, Steven A. Johnson of Gainesville; four daughters, Angela Legler, Sarah Johnson, Ryan Holbrook and Mellina Parker, all of Gainesville; her mother, Sharon Hall of Helen, Ga.; two sisters, Susan Hall of Gainesville and Aimee Moles of Baton Rouge, La.; and two grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Lupus Foundation of America Inc. in Jacksonville.
