Vincentia Yemma
Vincentia "Rose" Yemma died Monday at her residence in Gainesville.
She was 81.
She was born in Raritan, N.J., and moved to Gainesville from Fort Lauderdale 19 years ago.
Mrs. Yemma was a homemaker and a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald R. Yemma of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Wayne R. Yemma of Gainesville; a brother, Steven Bratek of North Carolina; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ethelda Henry Caffey
Ethelda Henry Caffey of Gainesville died Wednesday. She was 90.
Mrs. Caffey graduated from Florida A&M; University with a master's degree. She loved education and taught school in Alachua County for more than 45 years.
She was born in High Springs and moved to Gainesville in 1963.
She was a member of the Greater Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served as a pianist and a choir member.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Isaac H. Caffey.
Survivors include a son, Marion J. Caffey of Gainesville; three nieces, Elaine Haile of Starke, and Phyllis Cheryl Jenkins and Dawn Lynn Jenkins, both of Gainesville; one sister-in-law, Edrena Henry of Jacksonville; and one nephew, Charles Edward Henry of Gainesville.
John Francis Hickey
John Francis "Fran" Hickey of Gainesville died at Shands at the University of Florida on Friday after a brief illness. He was 85.
He was born in Dusquene, Pa., He spent most of his early years in Coral Gables and Miami, and moved to Gainesville from Margate 12 years ago.
He attended the University of Miami, and later became a newspaper advertising executive. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a volunteer for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and WUFT-TV/FM. He was a member of the Miami Federation of Musicians in Trenton, N.J., and past president of the Lions Club in Trenton.
He was an accomplished pianist, playing with many Big Bands in Miami in the 1940s and during his enlistment in the Navy.
He was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church, and he attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, both in Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Hickey.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellyn A. Radson of Gainesville and Kate Kraemer of Collingswood, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

Hattie Walton Ivey
Hattie Walton Ivey of West Palm Beach died at her home on Monday after a brief illness. She was 87.
She was a graduate of Archer Community School and later became a cook. She was a volunteer for Senior Services of Alachua County.
Mrs. Ivey was born in Archer and lived in Hawthorne for more than 20 years. Then she moved to Gainesville and lived there for seven years, before moving to West Palm Beach in 1995.
She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur R. Ivey and Louis Ivey Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy M. Peterson of West Palm Beach; four sisters, Ruby Peterson of Wacahoota, Annie W. Manning of Jamaica, N.Y., and Maggie W. Cusseaux and Emma W. Penny, both of Tampa; and 13 grandchildren.
Peter G. Scammacca
Peter G. Scammacca of Gainesville died suddenly at home Thursday. He was 63.
He was a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Gainesville from Long Island 25 years ago.
He was a Catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Retired Firefighter Association and the Meadowbrook Golf Club.
He was survived by his wife, Janice Scammacca of Gainesville; a daughter, Kelly Givens of Okinawa, Japan; two sons, Peter J. Scammacca of Alachua and Paul A. Scammacca of Jacksonville; a brother, Richard L. Scammacca of Brooklyn; and one granddaughter.
Annie Mae Sheppard
Annie Mae Sheppard of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 74.
She was a retired midwife.
Born in St. Petersburg, she moved to Gainesville from Quitman, Ga., one year ago.
She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Quitman, where she served on the Deaconess Board and the Mother's Board.
She is survived by two daughters, Flossie Albert of Gainesville and Melba L.S. Thomas of Archer; seven sons, James Sheppard of Boston, Ga., Robert L. Sheppard of Archer, Ralph W. Sheppard and Robin S. Sheppard, both of Quitman, Oscar L. Sheppard of Atlanta; and Ernest Sheppard and London Sheppard III, both of Gainesville; a brother, Wilson Miller of Dixie, Ga.; 35 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Glen Maurice Williams
STARKE -- Glen Maurice Williams of Starke died Monday at Vencor North Florida Hospital in Green Cove Springs after a brief illness. He was 42.
Mr. Williams was a teacher at Oak Hill School for the Blind in Hartford, Conn.
Mr. Williams was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, and moved to Starke from Hartford in 1993.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherise Williams of New Haven, Conn.; his father, Joscelyn Williams of Bloomfield, Conn.; two sisters, Connie Hollins of Ocala and Leonie Cooper of Hawthorne; three brothers, Kingsley Williams, Bill Williams and Garnett Williams, all of Bloomfield.
Nina Hill Griffis
LAKE BUTLER - Nina Hill Griffis of Lake Butler died Sunday in her home following a brief illness. She was 61.
Mrs. Griffis was born in Ocala and lived in Lake Butler for 31 years. She was a dental assistant at the North Florida Reception Center and a member of Bayless Highway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby James Griffis of Lake Butler; six daughters, Regina R. Taylor of Merritt Island, Roxie McDade of Lake Butler, Cynthia L. Rackley of Virginia Beach, Va., Theresa Annette Kamauf of Buckhannon, W.Va., Bonita Suzette Griffis of Watertown, N.Y., and Deborah Joanne Thompson of Allentown, Pa.; two sons, John Bunion Rackley of Enterprise, Ala., and Richard Kevin Griffis of Temple, Texas; one brother, Francis Theodore Hill of Savannah, Ga.; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mattie Brady Hough
LAWTEY - Mattie Brady Hough of Lawtey died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Brooker after a long illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Hough was born in White Springs and lived most of her life in Lawtey. She was a homemaker and a member of New River New Congregational Church in Raiford.
Survivors include four daughters, Emma Oliver of Las Vegas, Nev., Opal O'Steen of Raiford, Lillian Byum of Eufula, Ala., and Bobbie Jones of Brooker; one son, Stanley Wilkinson of Starke; one brother, Hugh Brady of Boston; two sisters, Alice Cooper and Mary Houston, both of North Carolina; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Agnes Inman Lowry
Agnes Inman Lowry of Gainesville died Sunday following an extended illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Lowry was born in Georgia and was a retired Alachua County court clerk.
Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillian Rutland; one brother, David Clyde Inman; and one sister, Vera Hamilton.
Survivors include one sister, Gladys Hatch of New Iberia, La.
Ronald L. "Ron" Sandoval
MELROSE - Ronald L. "Ron" Sandoval of Melrose died in Gainesville on Sunday following an extended illness. He was 56.
Mr. Sandoval was born in San Francisco and moved to Gainesville in 1980. He was a plumber for the University of Florida and loved to collect stamps.
Mr. Sandoval was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Sandoval; and one sister, Dorothy Sandoval.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Sandoval of Melrose; two daughters, Vikki Wapp and Valerie Sandoval, both of San Francisco; one stepdaughter, Robin Weinrich of Seattle; three stepsons, Roscoe "Rocky" Weinrich of Seattle, Scott Hitt of Fort Eustis, Va., and Brent Hitt of Melrose; two brothers, Charles Sandoval and Jerome Sandoval, both of San Francisco; one sister, Frances Colombo of San Francisco; and four grandchildren.

Mildred Louise Stark
WILLISTON - Mildred Louise Stark of Williston died Saturday in Oak View Care and Rehabilitation Center in Williston following an extended illness. She was 72.
Mrs. Stark was born in Jacksonville, grew up in Ocala and moved to Williston from Deland 49 years ago. She was a homemaker and a former teachers' aide at Joyce Bullock Elementary School in Williston. Mrs. Stark was a member of First Baptist Church of Williston.
Mrs. Stark was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Stark.
Survivors include two sons, Don Stark of Williston and Keith Stark of Sarasota; two daughters, Laura Brown of Pomona Park and Amy Stark of Williston; one sister, Frances Markham of Alachua; and three grandchildren.
