Gayle L. Gribble
PORT CHARLOTTE -- Gayle L. Gribble died Sunday at his residence in Port Charlotte. He was 71.
He was born in Tamora, Neb., and moved to Port Charlotte from Lincoln, Neb., 12 years ago.
Mr. Gribble was a mortgage broker, and the former owner and operator of Gribble's Food Mart in Port Charlotte.
Survivors include two daughters, including Jan L. MacBride of Gainesville; a son; a brother; and four grandchildren.
William B. Long
ARCHER -- William B. Long died Monday at his home in Archer after an extended illness. He was 89.
He was born in Patton, Mo., and moved to Archer from Robinson, Ill., in 1965.
Mr. Long served as an engineer in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired land developer and builder, and former building inspector for the city of Archer.
Survivors include three daughters, Anna M. Anderson and Dolores Medlin, both of Robinson, and Shirley Sneed of Terre Haute, Ind.; a son, Norman Long of Archer; two sisters, Esther Long Polen of Patton, Mo., and Grace Long Yamnitz of Perryville, Mo.; two brothers, Earnest Long of Lincoln, Neb., and Everett Long of Patton, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren.
Clyde Edwin Sanders
STARKE -- Clyde Edwin Sanders, a lifelong resident of Starke, died Monday at Brookewood Nursing Home in Starke after an extended illness. He was 75.
He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda S. Lee and Peggy S. Roberson, both of Melrose; a son, Edwin Sanders of Waldo; two sisters, Kathleen Marchant of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Shelba Jean Johnson of Brandon; a brother, Herold Dean Sanders of Phonixville, Penn.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary Hood Setzer
Mary Hood Setzer of Gainesville died Wednesday at the Deville Nursing Center in Lewiston, Maine. She was 80.
She was born in Wilkesboro, N.C., and moved to Gainesville from Jacksonville 19 years ago.
Mrs. Setzer was a retired cook.
She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "J.C." Setzer Sr.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Goodrich of Jacksonville, Sandra Downing of Lewiston, Maine, and Linda Hutto of Gainesville; two sons, Thomas Setzer Jr. and John Setzer, both of Jacksonville; two sisters, Virginia Shumate of Allen Junction, W.Va., and Rhoda Tester of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, James Hood of Princeton, W.Va., 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle S. Simpson
MAYO -- Myrtle S. Simpson died Monday at her residence in Mayo after an extended illness. She was 83.
She was born in Alton.
Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and a member of Airline Baptist Church in Mayo.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrna J. Holt of Mayo and Jean Dycus of Roswell, N.M.; a sister, Emma Lou Moody of Jacksonville; a brother, Pete Sullivan of Mayo; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Lara Stephanie Godbold Wilson
ORANGE PARK -- Lara Stephanie Godbold Wilson died Monday at her Orange Park residence after an extended illness. She was 32.
She was born in Lake City and moved to Orange Park from Jacksonville in 1997.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Fleming Island United Methodist Church in Green Cove Springs.
She was a former office manager for the North East Florida Boy Scout Council.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Wilson of Orange Park; her parents Jesse T. Godbold and Jeanie Godbold of Green Cove Springs; and a brother, Tommy Godbold of Middleburg.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Hospice of North East Florida or the American Cancer Society.
Mary Hampton
HIGH SPRINGS - Mary Hampton of High Springs died Sept. 16 at Shands at AGH after a long illness. She was 61.
She was born in Branford and then moved to High Springs 32 years ago.
She was a member of the Church of God by Faith.
Survivors include her mother, Beatrice Hampton of High Springs; four sisters of Martha Baker of Jacksonville, Annie B. Lee of High Springs, Ella George-Busette of West Palm Beach and Lillie Williams of Riverview; and three brothers, Elder Jessie Hampton Jr. and Archie Hampton, both of High Springs, and Joseph Hampton of Jacksonville.
Kenneth D. Short
WILLISTON - Kenneth D. Short of Williston died Friday at Shands at the University of Florida after an extended illness. He was 52.
He was born in Covington, Tenn., and moved to Williston from Hollywood, Fla., two years ago.
Mr. Short was a mechanic. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Short of Williston; two sons, Kenneth D. Short Jr. and Timothy J. Short, both of Level, N.C.; a sister, Alice Brown of Miss.; five brothers, Farris Short, Larry Short, Dan Short and Ronnie Short, all of California, and Phil Short of Mississsippi.
Muriel Coghill Williamson
Muriel Coghill Williamson of Gainesville died Friday at Palm Garden. She was 89.
She was born in Granville, Ohio, and received a bachelor of arts degree from Denison University and a bachelor of music degree from the Yale School of Music. She moved to Gainesville in 1939 and taught piano to local students for many years.
She was a member of the Gainesville Music Teachers Association and the Society for Ethnomusicology.
Mrs. Williamson was the first Westerner to achieve extensive knowledge of the Burmese harp, which she studied while she was living in Burma from 1959 to 1962 with her husband, the late Robert C. Williamson, and she received a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies to pursue her scholarly work at Cambridge University in 1977-78.
She was preceded in death by her son, Louis Williamson, who died at the age of 9.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Anne W. Herb of Madison, Wis.; a stepson, Robert M. Williamson of Rochester, Mich.; a niece, Mary Coghill of Salem, Ore.; and two nephews, William Coghill of Tacoma, Wash., and George Coghill of Oshkosh, Wis.

Howard Williams Jr.
OTTER CREEK - Howard Williams Jr. of Otter Creek died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 73.
He was born in Otter Creek and was a lifelong resident of Levy County.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was the owner and operator of Williams Country Store.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Yearty of Gulf Hammock; a son, Carl Williams of Otter Creek; two sisters, Nadine Beaulieu of Archer and Linda Crews of Otter Creek; and three grandchildren.
Munson, noted daylily grower, dies
Roswell "Bill" Munson Jr., a lifelong Gainesville resident and noted daylily grower, died Sunday at 70 after a brief illness.
Mr. Munson was a retired architect and campus planner for the University of North Florida. He was a graduate of P.K. Yonge school and University of Florida School of Architecture, class of 1953.
Mr. Munson was a well-known hybridizer of daylilies, having won 156 national titles. As a hybridizer, he gradually refined the flowers' color, brightness, form and pattern by mixing varieties over generations.
"The ultimate test of what's the right combination of characteristics is what the public likes and enjoys, " he once told a horticultural journal.
Mr. Munson served as president of the American Hemerocallis Society in 1976.
He was a Baptist.
He is survived by a sister, Betty Hudson of Gainesville, and a brother, Joseph T. Hudson, also of Gainesville.

Michelle Lynn Blankenship
HAWTHORNE -- Michelle Lynn Blankenship of Hawthorne died Monday at the Hospice House in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 17.
Miss Blankenship was born in Jacksonville and moved to Hawthorne nine years ago. She would have been a member of the Interlachen High School class of 2000. She was a member of the Interlachen Marching Band and the Symphonic Band and Southeast U.S. Honors Band in 1998. She attended her grandfather's church, Melrose Calvary Temple Church of God, and sang gospel music, including contemporary and Southern gospel music.
Survivors include her parents, Kenneth Blankenship and Susan Judd Blankenship, both of Hawthorne; a brother, Benford Allyn Blankenship of Hawthorne; her paternal grandfather, the Rev. Ben Blankenship of Hawthorne; and her maternal grandmother, Frances H. Judd of Boynton Beach.
