Ted Glen Watts

MCALPIN -- Ted Glen Watts died Monday at his residence in McAlpin. He was 69.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Watts moved to Suwannee County from St. Petersburg 12 years ago.

He was a retired engineer, inventor and teacher.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the National Retired Teachers Association and the "Chosen Few."

Survivors include his wife, Dena Marie Foster of McAlpin; three daughters, Linda Kelley of Des Moines, Hope Houston of St. Petersburg and Faith Daley of Mankato, Minn.; two sons, Steven Watts and Mark Watts, both of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Herbert Lee Williams

Herbert Lee Williams of Gainesville died Monday in Eustis following a sudden illness. He was 65.

Mr. Williams was born in Jacksonville and moved to Gainesville from Leesburg in the early 1950s.

He was a retired custodian with the Alachua County School Board and a U.S. Army veteran.

He attended the Greater Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Melodee G. Williams of Gainesville and Mamie L. Battle of Orlando; a son, Derek L. Williams of Gainesville; his mother, Sarah Williams of Leesburg; two sisters, Pearl Brown of Leesburg and Betty Middleton of Fruitland Park; two brothers, Roger Williams of Woodridge, Va., and Michael Williams of Leesburg; eight grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.

Clarence W. Beasley

Clarence W. Beasley of Gainesville died Thursday at his residence after an extended illness. He was 90.

Born in Cedar Key in 1910, Mr. Beasley moved to Gainesville in 1912 with his family. He graduated from Gainesville High School and attended the University of Florida. He worked at the Beasley and Williams Furniture Store until 1994, when the store closed following a fire.

He served for two years in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Beasley was an avid hunter and a Florida Gator fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dora Manning Beasley, in 1991.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Beasley Ford of Jacksonville and Barbara Joan Beasley of Starke; a son, Clarence White Beasley Jr. of Gainesville; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Milam Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Leita Lillian Johnson

STARKE - Leita Lillian Johnson of Starke died Thursday of natural causes at Shands at Starke. She was 93.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Australia.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos Johnson of Starke.

Archie Tanner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Andre Lagrange

HAWTHORNE - Andre Lagrange of Hawthorne died Friday at Shands at AGH following a long illness. He was 55.

Mr. Lagrange was born in St. Luc, Quebec, Canada. He was a plumber and a Catholic.

Survivors include three daughters, Josee Lagrange of Clearwater, Shirley Lagrange of Port Charlotte and Nelly Lagrange of Hollywood; his father, Roland Lagrange of St. George, Canada; a brother, Jean-Guy Lagrange, St. George; and one grandson.

Worth Cremation Service of Florida is in charge of arrangements.

Lula Mae Marshall

DOWLING PARK - Lula Mae Marshall of Dowling Park died at the Good Samaritan Center Advent Christian Village after a long illness. She was 94.

Mrs. Marshall was a secretary and a homemaker.

Born in High Springs, she moved from Gainesville to Dowling Park 20 years ago.

She was a member of Archer United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Marshall.

Survivors include a sister, Bessie Harrold of Dowling Park; a brother, Dr. George R. Jones of Richmond, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Forest Meadow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie R. Dodd

Marjorie R. Dodd of Newport, Tenn., died Friday in Newport. She was 82.

Mrs. Dodd was a homemaker and licensed practical nurse.

Born in Gadsden, Ala., she lived most of her life in Keystone Heights before moving to Newport four years ago. She was active in the Gideons' Auxiliary and was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Theressa.

Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Fred S. Dodd.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. John Dodd of Greenville, S.C., and Dan M. Dodd of Keystone Heights; three daughters, Romesacq Faisoncq of Jacksonville, Sylvia Ford of Cosby, Tenn., and Priscilla Baker of Newport; three sisters, Dot Paisleycq of Birmingham, Ala., Elaine Knadlecq of Bryceville, and Billie Swanson of Winter Park; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Gideons' Memorial Bible Plan.

James Louis Gladwell Jr.

HAMPTON - James Louis "Jimmy" Gladwell Jr. of Hampton died Friday at Shands at UF after a long illness. He was 65.

Mr. Gladwell was a rancher and horse trainer. Born in Jacksonville, he moved from Jacksonville to Hampton 32 years ago. He attended Bolles Academy and Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville.

He was a member of the American Brahman Association, the Florida Cattlemen, and the National and the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders Associations.

Mr. Gladwell was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Gladwell of Hampton; two sisters; children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Edward A. Petricka

CROSS CITY - Edward A. Petricka of Cross City died Thursday at Shands Hospital as the result of an automobile accident earlier this month. He was 78.

Mr. Petricka was a retired coach and teacher at Trenton High School and Dixie County High School. He was regional teacher of the year in 1993. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of Rhodehaver Boys Ranch, Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch, Florida Athletic Coaches Association, Kiwanis Club, Ramsey Bend Hunting Club and Mill Swamp Hunt Club.

Survivors include a sister, Evelyn "Pat" Mangumcq of Palatka; a brother, George Richard Petricka of Gainesville; a niece, Sharon Harper of St. Augustine; a nephew, Wayne Mangum Jr. of Palatka; four grandnieces; one grandnephew; and a godson, Duke Lang of Trenton.

Anne Delaino Rowland

CRYSTAL RIVER - Anne Delaino Rowland of Crystal River died Friday in Crystal River. She was 80.

Mrs. Rowland was born in Cedar Key and was a lifelong resident of the area, spending the past several years at Surrey Place in Lecanto. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cedar Key.

Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Rowland Sr. and a son, John W. Rowland Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Theresa Castell of Dunnellon and Rebecca Ann Atherton of Ocala; a brother, George Delaino of Cedar Key; a sister, Virginia Walrath of Cedar Key; two granddaughters, Tesa Ann McClure and Laura Lee Koffmehl; and two great-grandsons, Greg and Tanner.

Mary Martha Brownlee Wiren

Mary Martha Brownlee Wiren of Gainesville died unexpectedly Friday in Gainesville. She was 49.

Miss Wiren was a practice manager at Shands at UF's Eastside Community Practice. She was a founding member and officer of the Oncology Nursing Society of Alachua County and was a member of the Nurse Recruiter Network and the Committee for Community Nursing Recognition Banquet. She was pursuing a bachelor's degree in health administration at St. Leo's University.

Born in Fort Knox, Ky., she moved from Miami to Gainesville 26 years ago.

She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was past president of the Gainesville Jaycees.

Survivors include her parents, Martha and Joseph Boldizarcq of Earleton; a sister, Alice Gilbert of Miami; a niece, Krista; and two nephews, Nicolascq and Matthew.
