Ralph Colson
OLD TOWN -- Ralph Colson, a lifelong resident of Gilchrist County, died Monday at his residence in Old Town. He was 74.
Mr. Colson was a farmer and a Baptist.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Carter of Cross City and Sheila Smith of Old Town; two sons, Herbert Colson and Lonnie Colson, both of Old Town; a sister, "T" Michael of Trenton; a brother, Junior Simpson of Chiefland; seven grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
Joan Marie Doucet
Joan Marie Doucet of Gainesville died Dec. 22 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 65.
Mrs. Doucet was born in Chicago and moved to Gainesville in 1973.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Maryann Doucet of Chicago; four sons, Ace Doucet, David Doucet, Mike Doucet and Phil Doucet, all of Gainesville; and a grandchild.
Shane Edmond
Shane Edmond of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was 44.
Mr. Edmond was born in Hugo, Okla., and moved to Gainesville from Tucson, Ariz., in 1978.
He was an artist.
He graduated from the University of Arizona.
Mr. Edmond was a member of Northwest Baptist Church, Promise Keepers and a former member of the Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bochette Edmond of Gainesville; two sons, Garrett Austin Edmond and Travis Dean Edmond, both of Gainesville; his parents, Clarence D. Edmond and Irma Dean Lusk Edmond of Gainesville; two sisters, Swannee Nardandrea of Ocala and Jenni Gorman of Ponta Verra; and a brother, Randy Edmond of Casa Grande, Ariz.
Katie Davis Henderson
STARKE -- Katie Davis Henderson of Starke died Monday at Windsor Manor Nursing Home in Starke following an extended illness. She was 90.
Mrs. Henderson was born in Marshall, N.C., and moved to Starke in 1973.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Dukes of Grandin, Lorraine McClellan of Brooker and Ruth Manis of Ellenboro, N.C.; three sons, Troy Henderson and Luther D. Henderson, both of Starke, and Clifton Henderson of Spindell, N.C.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mildred Virginia Jobe
LIVE OAK -- Mildred Virginia Jobe died Sunday. She was 88.
Mrs. Jobe was born in Jackson, Ky., and moved to Live Oak in 1985.
She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucy Jo Todd of Live Oak; a son, Robert Porter Jobe of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Bobby Plummer
HERNANDO -- Bobby "Dale" Plummer of Hernando died Friday. He was 38.
Mr. Plummer was born in Tampa and moved to Hernando from New Port Richey six years ago.
He was a member of Church of God in Tarpon Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Jill Plummer of Richmond, Ind.; a daughter, Lea Plummer of New Port Richey; a son, Daniel Plummer of Richmond, Ind.; his parents, Henry and Peggy Plummer of Chiefland; and a brother, Dane Plummer of Chiefland.
James E. Rewis Jr.
LIVE OAK -- James E. Rewis Jr. of Live Oak died Monday. He was 37.
Mr. Rewis was born in Macclenny and moved to Live Oak from Winter Garden in 1965.
He was an electrician, a Baptist and a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1165.
Survivors include his wife, Kandace Rewis of Live Oak; two daughters, Kaitlin Sara Rewis and Karis Alise Rewis, both of Live Oak; a son, Jeffrey Quinn Rewis of Live Oak; his parents, Ed and Glenda Rewis of Live Oak; a sister, Gina Kay Welch of Lake City; and his grandmother, Thelma Fish of Glen St. Mary.
Bessie S. Smith
HIGH SPRINGS -- Bessie S. Smith of High Springs died Monday at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was 95.
Mrs. Smith was born in Lottieville and moved to High Springs from Levy County 18 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Smith; two daughters, Lois Lynn and Mildred English; and a son, Floyd Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Inez McElory and Pauline Pittman, both of Alachua; a son, James M. Smith of Boston; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby Lee Wise
WILLISTON -- Ruby Lee Wise of Williston died Tuesday at Palm Garden in Gainesville.
She was 92.
Mrs. Wise was born in Statesboro, Ga., and moved to Williston from Kissimmee 64 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
She was a former member of Pink Ladies of Williston Hospital and a member of the Wesleyn Circle of Williston. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Williston.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Screws and Vivian Webb, both of Williston; a son, Richard Wise of Williston; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Avelene Nixon Barton
Avelene Nixon Barton of Gainesville died Saturday at the home of her sister in Gainesville.
Mrs. Barton was born in Gainesville and moved to Gainesville 5 1/2 months ago from Greensboro, N.C. She worked for Schiffman's Jewelry Store in Greensboro for more than 40 years and was a Baptist.
Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Barton. Survivors include a brother, Erby Millard Nixon of Panama City; and three sisters, Eunice Campbell of St. Augustine, Ruth Buenzli of Indialantic and Ruby O'Kelley of Gainesville.
Vera Cumbers
WILLISTON -- Vera Cumbers of Williston died Sunday in Nature Coast Hospital in Williston. She was 77.
Mrs. Cumbers was born in Coffee County, Ga., and moved to Williston from Miami 22 years ago. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God in Williston.
Survivors include her son, George F. Cumbers of Pompano Beach; two daughters, Sharon Edwards of Williston and Annie Cumbers of Kissimmee; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Louis John Celoria
HARBOR OAKS -- Louis John Celoria of Harbor Oaks died Saturday in Ormond Beach. He was 92.
Mr. Celoria was born in East Rutherford, N.J., and moved to Harbor Oaks from Daytona Beach 14 years ago. He was a barber and a Baptist.
Mr. Celoria was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Robinson. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Mims Celoria of Williston; three sons, Don Celoria of Lakeland, Alan Celoria of Smithdale, Miss., and John Eder of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Linda Sabis of Gainesville; a sister, Josie Discepola of New Jersey; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
