Venis Stephenson McIntosh of Fernandina Beach died Sept. 15 at Integrated Health Services at Gainesville after a long illness. She was 86.
She was born in Ridgeland, S.C., and moved to Fernandina Beach from Gainesville 50 years ago. Due to failing health, she relocated to Gainesville two years ago.
She attended Lincoln High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Macedonia A.M.E. Church of Fernandina Beach, where she was a former president of the Stewardess Board.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen D. McDonald of Gainesville; a sister, Nora L. Jackson of Fort Pierce; four brothers, Robert Stephenson Jr., Marvin Stephenson, and Raymond Stephenson, all of Gainesville, and Willie Stephenson of Newport News, Va.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Alex Eugene Taylor
HIGH SPRINGS - Alex Eugene Taylor died Thursday at his High Springs home. He was 52.
He was born in High Springs. After graduating from A.L. Mebane High School in 1966, he worked as a car detailer.
He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include his mother, Bessie Watkins; two daughters, Sharetta Robinson and Gwenoda Taylor, both of Gainesville; a son Alex Taylor of Gainesville; four sisters, Linda Albritton, Glenda Albritton, Barbara Watkins and Anita Carter, all of St. Petersburg; three brothers, Michael Watkins, Anthony Williams and Paul Watkins, all of St. Petersburg; and two grandchildren.
Vernon E. Traylor
WILLISTON - Vernon E. Traylor of Williston died suddenly Wednesday at his Williston home. He was 72.
He was born in Blountstown and he moved from Panama City to Williston 31 years ago.
He was a World War II veteran, retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years at the rank of master sergeant. He later became an insurance agent with Gulf Life Insurance Co.
He was a master mason, belonging to Ornan Masonic Lodge 117, and a shriner belonging to the Morroco Temple of Jacksonville. He was also a member of the Legion of Honor and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Williston.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine S. Traylor of Williston; three sons, Steve Traylor, Terry Traylor and Greg Traylor, all of Williston; a brother, J.L. Traylor of Bristol; and eight grandchildren.
Isaac M. Bennett
Isaac M. Bennett of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida due to an auto accident. He was 18.
Mr. Bennett was a student at the Loften Center. He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville and a member of Showers of Blessing Church.
Survivors include his mother, Kimberly Baker-Bennett of Gainesville; his father and stepmother, James and Kimberly Bennett of Orange Lake; his biological father and stepmother, Timothy and Margie Watkins of Summerfield; eight sisters, Katrina Ward and Daphne Anderson, both of Gainesville, Sassaley Bennett and Dominique Frazier, both of Orange Lake, Latoya Watkins, Amanda Watkins, Tiffany Watkins and Olivia Watkins, all of Summerfield; 10 brothers, Kevin Watkins of Ocala, Timothy Watkins, Tevin Watkins and Emmanuel Watkins, all of Summerfield, Emanuel Anderson and Edward Anderson, both of Tallahassee, Norris Anderson of Gainesville, Solomon Bennett, Raymond Frazier and Logan Bennett, all of Orange Lake; his maternal grandparents, the Rev. Booker T. and Reatha Baker of Gainesville; his paternal grandparents, Walter C. and Elizabeth Heath of Chiefland; his biological paternal grandparents, the Rev. Elease and Deacon Emmitt Watkins of Inverness; his step-grandparents, Fanny and Robert Floyd of Orange Lake; and his paternal great-grandmother, Susie Bower of Chiefland.
Mary Jo Corradini
Mary Jo Corradini of Ecuador died Tuesday at her parents' home in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 48.
Miss Corradini owned and operated a T-shirt factory in Ecuador.
She was born in Detroit and moved to Ecuador 25 years ago.
Miss Corradini received a master's degree in political science from Columbia University in New York.
She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her parents, Dal and Amelia Corradini of Gainesville; two brothers, Robert Corradini of Ecuador and John Corradini of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Lucy Aguirre of Gainesville.
Virginia Birchfield Crapps
LIVE OAK -- Virginia Birchfield Crapps of Live Oak died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 84.
Mrs. Crapps was a homemaker.
She was born in Mayo and moved to Live Oak 48 years ago.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Live Oak and the Woman's Club in Live Oak. She was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mayo.
Mrs. Crapps was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Claude Crapps Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Betsy Crapps Burch, Virginia Crapps Johnson and Dicy Crapps Hannum, all of Live Oak; seven sons, Claude Crapps III, Peat Crapps, John Morgan Crapps and James Crapps, all of Live Oak, Daniel Crapps and George Crapps, both of Lake City, and David Crapps of Gainesville; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the First United Methodist Church in Live Oak or to the Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park.
Tom Duval
Tom Duval of Gainesville died Aug. 24 at Palm Garden Care Center in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 90.
Mr. Duval was born in Chaires and moved from Philadelphia to Gainesville 16 years ago.
He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include his wife, Ceola Duval of Gainesville; a son, Charles Duval of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Lillie Mae Chambers of Haines City; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Kathleen Nash Jacobs
Kathleen Nash Jacobs of Gainesville died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 67.
Mrs. Jacobs was a homemaker.
She was born in Hawthorne and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Sorority Nu Lambda Chapter, the St. Patrick's Bereavement Committee and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Jacobs.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kathleen Jacobs of Tampa; three sons, Charles W. Jacobs of Ypsilanti, Mich., Daniel James Jacobs of Jacksonville and David E. Jacobs of Gainesville; two sisters, Mary Ampulski of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Josephine Davis of Gulfport, Miss.; a brother, Edward Nash of Folkston, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Annie Bell Jenkins
HAWTHORNE -- Annie Bell Jenkins of Hawthorne died Monday at Gainesville Health and Rehab Center after a brief illness. She was 88.
Ms. Jenkins was a foster grandparent at Shell Elementary School.
She was a lifelong resident of Hawthorne.
Ms. Jenkins was a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Edgar.
Survivors include two sisters, Eunice Jenkins and Gladys Johnson, both of Hawthorne; and a brother, Clifford Jenkins of East Elmhurst, N.Y.
Alva Land
TRENTON -- Alva Land of Trenton died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was 69.
Mr. Land was a retired restaurant owner. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He was born in Franklin, Ind., and moved from Naples to Trenton 23 years ago.
Mr. Land was a Baptist.
He enjoyed painting and riding his horse.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Land of Trenton; a son, Dana Land of Ocala; a daughter, Connie Scalora of Naples; and one granddaughter.
