Inez Waters Simpson
WILLISTON - Inez Waters Simpson of Williston died Friday at her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Simpson was a retired housekeeper and a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a lifelong resident of Williston.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Raleigh Simpson of Williston; two daughters, Cora Williams of Gainesville and Vanessa Reid of Williston; three sisters, Mary Harris of Dunnellon, Louvenia Dallas of Williston and Ruby Lee Taylor of Detroit; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lucille Holton Wade
ALACHUA - Lucille Holton "Cille" Wade of Alachua died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 84.
Mrs. Wade was a retired presser for Ideal Laundry of Gainesville.
Born in Moultrie, Ga., she moved from Polk City to Alachua 53 years ago.
Mrs. Wade was a member of Saint Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Alachua.
Her survivors include three sons, Johnny Jackson and Emmitt Wade, both of Alachua, and Cecil Wade of Lake City; two sisters, Rosa Flournoy of Pelham, Ga., and Mary Jones of Plainsfield, N.J.; and 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Anita Regen
OCALA -- Anita Regen of Ocala died Sunday at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. She was 81.
Mrs. Regen was born in Chance, Ala., and moved to Ocala from Thomasville, Ala., in 1963. She received a bachelor's degree from Livingston College in Livingston, Ala.
Mrs. Regen was a retired teacher of 38 years with the Marion County School Board, teaching at Anthony Elementary School from 1963-80. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church of Ocala, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Mrs. Regen was also a member of the Florida Educator's Association and the Gamma Chi chapter of Delta Gamma Kappa.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Regen of Hawthorne; three sisters, Mary Beverly and Kathryn Dozier, both of Thomasville, and Latrelle Webb of Spanish Fort, Ala.; one brother, Vaiden Dozier of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Theresa Celeina Hogan
BELL -- Theresa Celeina Hogan of Bell died Saturday in her home. She was 81.
Mrs. Hogan was born in Washington D.C. and moved to Bell from Maryland 10 years ago. She was a retired office manager for radio and television companies, and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland.
Mrs. Hogan was preceded in death by her husband, Frances "Frank" Hogan. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Hines of Bell; one sister, Francis Leonhart of York, S.C.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Willis W. Anderson Sr.
Willis W. Anderson Sr. of Gainesville died Wednesday. He was 88.
He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator.
He was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Malvine Anderson of Orlando; two daughters, Carol A. Davis of Micanopy and Gay Kauf of Bithlow; three sons, Willis Anderson Jr. of Williston, Jack M. Anderson of Bell and David Anderson of Naples; two sisters, Martha Lewis and Ethel Lewis of Port Saint Joe; two brothers, Rudoph "Red" Anderson of Ashford, Ala., and L.W. Anderson of Dothan, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Andrew Jackson Borders
Andrew Jackson Borders of Gainesville died Wednesday at his residence. He was 88.
He was born in Richardson, Ky., and moved from Key Rock, W.Va., to Gainesville in 1959.
He retired from the United Mine Workers and Sunland Training Center, now Tacachale, where he was a maintenance engineer.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers.
He attended Eden Baptist and Orange Heights Baptist Churches.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Borders of Gainesville; two daughters, Ruby Kolb and Judy Salah of Gainesville; two sisters, Brooksey Wilkinson of LaGrance, N.C., and Alice Pack of Pineville, W.Va.; a brother, John Borders of Pineville, W.Va.; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Eula DeSue
STARKE - Eula DeSue of Starke died Friday at Shands at Starke after an extended illness. She was 93.
She was born in New River, and moved to Stark in her childhood.
After graduating from the schools of Bradford County, she became a homemaker.
She was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Starke.
Survivors include three daughters, Fannie Loma, Pauline DeSue and Veronica DeSue, all of Starke; three sons, James Tyson of Fernandina Beach, Johnny Johnson and Sam DeSue, both of Starke; two sisters, Anna Covington of Starke and Alma Johnson of Lakeland; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Huldah Rivers Malphurs
ALACHUA - Huldah Rivers Malphurs of Alachua died Wednesday at her daughter's home in High Springs after a long illness. She was 91.
She was a lifelong resident of Alachua. After graduating from Alachua High School in 1925, she became a homemaker.
She attended New Oak Grove Baptist Church for 72 years, and served as a Sunday school teacher for 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, York Malphurs.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Vaughn of High Springs and June Register of Alachua; two sons, Tommy Malphurs and Lamar Malphurs, both of Alachua; a sister, Mary Hardee of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Aldona A. Jackson
Aldona A. Jackson died Tuesday in her Gainesville home. She was 86.
Born in Waterbury, Conn., she moved to Gainesville from Fort Lauderdale 19 years ago.
She was a saleswoman at Jordan-Marsh department store in Fort Lauderdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jackson.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Carr of Gainesville; a sister, Ann Mikelionis of Gainesville; and five grandchildren.
Bernard Terrence Jenkins
HAWTHORNE - Bernard Terrence Jenkins of Hawthorne died last Wednesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 40.
He was a lifelong resident of Hawthorne.
He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1978, and later became a behavior specialist at Tacachale.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Constance M. Jenkins of Hawthorne; three daughters, Laquisha Jenkens, Anaysah Jenkins and Breshonda Jenkins, all of Hawthorne; two sons, Jonell Mann and Andre Mann, both of Hawthorne; his mother, Vanessie Nichols of St. Petersburg; his father, Cleon Jenkins of Gainesville; two sisters, Wanda Nelson and Deborah Johnson, both of Gainesville; three brothers, Winford Jenkins of Hawthorne and Keith Strong and Shawn Jenkins, both of Gainesville; his maternal grandmother, Mamie Brown of Hawthorne; and his paternal grandmother, Jessie Mae Jenkins of Hawthorne.
Cephus Johnson
LAWTEY - Deacon Cephus Johnson of Lawtey died Sunday at Shands at Starke Hospital after an extended illness. He was 88.
He was a lifelong resident of Lawtey.
He attended Bradford County schools and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired custodian.
He was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Trustee Board and Superintendent of the Sunday school.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary Harmon of Pearson, Ga., Jearlean Johnson of Tampa, Margaret Newton of Orlando, Clara DeSue of Starke, and Catherine Johnson, and Shirley Johnson, all of Lawtey; six sons, Joe Cephus Johnson of Hallandale, Sammie Johnson of Miami, and Edmond Johnson, Herman Johnson, Cleo Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, all of Lawtey; two sisters, Martha Whitley of Jacksonville, and Margaret Royal of Opa Locka; 41 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren.
