Brigida L. Francella

Brigida L. Francella of Gainesville died July 21Wednesday. She was 96.

Mrs. Francella was a homemaker.

Born in Calabria, Italy, Mrs. Francella moved to Gainesville 27 years ago from Bristol, Conn.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Francella of St. Augustine; a sister, Mary Schweizer of Farmingdale, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Carpino of Raleigh, N.C; and five grandchildren.

Pearl Jane Deering Hutchins

HAWTHORNE -- Pearl Jane Deering Hutchins of Hawthorne died Monday of natural causes. She was 88.

Mrs. Hutchins was a homemaker and an avid gardener. It was said she could put a broom handle in the ground and it would root.

Born in Cherokee County, Ala., Mrs. Hutchins moved to Hawthorne 58 years ago from Summerville, Ga.

She was a member of the Eden Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. "Bill" Hutchins; two sons, Chester and Jeriel Hutchins; and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances H. Stanley and Helen H. Bacon, both of Hawthorne; two sons, Joe Hutchins and Ralph "Bill" Hutchins, both of Hawthorne; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Louis T. Jackson

LIVE OAK -- Louis T. Jackson of Live Oak died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a short illness. He was 56.

Mr. Jackson was owner and operator of Louis T. Jackson Cable Co. in Vero Beach.

Mr. Jackson was born in Wilson, N.C., and moved to Live Oak two years ago from Vero Beach.

He was a member of the Live Oak Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jackson of Live Oak; his mother, Eula Mae Bennett of Winter Garden; a son, Timothy Wayne Jackson of Longwood; two sisters, Marie Watson of Davenport and Marlene Darby of Jacksonville; two brothers, Sherman Rose of Lake City and Michael Jackson of Fernandina Beach; and two grandchildren.

Jean Jandt

Jean Jandt of Gainesville died Sunday. She was 76.

Mrs. Jandt was born in Aurora, Ill., and moved to Gainesville two years ago from Lake City.

She was formerly employed at Central Files and Southeast Banks in Dunedin. She was also worked as an EKG technician at Morton Plant and Clearwater Community Hospitals.

Mrs. Jandt was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Jandt; a son, Jerry Jandt; and a sister, Ellen Hanus.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jandt of Lake City.

Cheyenne Herrin Thompson

TRENTON -- Cheyenne Herrin Thompson of Trenton died Saturday at the Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 47.

Mrs. Thompson was a phlebotomist.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Miami and moved to Trenton 15 years ago from Miami.

She attended Family Bible Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Timothy Thompson of Naples; a son, Dennis Herrin of Swarthmore, Penn.; a daughter, Tia Nicole Thompson of Fanning Springs; a brother, Charles Knight of Old Town; three sisters, Bonnie Porter of Tennessee, Candy Porter of Old Town and Starr Knight of Miami; and a granddaughter.

Roscoe Riley Turvy

Roscoe Riley Turvy of Meritt Island died Monday at Mariner Health of Titusville after a short illness. He was 81.

Mr. Turvy was an electronics specialist and retired from NASA after working at the agency since its inception at the Kennedy Space Center.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Merritt Island.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fave H. Turvy.

Survivors include a son; two daughters, including Paula McCarty of Gainesville; a brother; a sister; and four grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Grace United Methodist Church.

Alva Pinkston Wyche

WORTHINGTON SPRINGS -- Alva Pinkston Wyche of Worthington Springs died Monday at Shands at AGH. She was 91.

Mrs. Wyche was a homemaker and pink lady at Alachua General Hospital for more than 20 years.

Born in Union County, Mrs. Wyche lived in Gainesville and Union County her entire life.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday school class.

Mrs. Wyche was preceded in death by her husband, James Wyche.

Survivors include a son, Michael S. Wyche of Worthington Springs; a brother, Henry Pinkston of Lulu; and four grandsons.

Ruby Allen

ALACHUA -- Ruby Allen of Alachua died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a long illness.

She was 60.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker.

She was born in Custard, Ga., and moved from Custard to Alachua 40 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Allen of Alachua; four sons, Kenneth Spraulding of Panama City, Robert Pollard of Orlando, and Terrence Pollard and Jeffery Allen, both of Alachua; a sister, Essie Mae Mitchell of Pompano Beach; a brother, Iverson Barnes of Pompano Beach; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Charlotte Sue Arnold

WELLBORN -- Charlotte Sue Arnold of Wellborn died Tuesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 58.

Mrs. Arnold was a self-employed cosmetologist.

She was born in Bloomington, Ind., and moved to Wellborn 12 years ago.

Mrs. Arnold was a member of Wellborn United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Arnold of Wellborn; a son, James Robert Arnold of Jacksonville; a daughter, Debbie Kinney of Cherry Point, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Willie Bing Jr.

Willie "Six Fingers" Bing Jr. of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida due to injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was 64.

Mr. Bing was a self-employed auto mechanic.

He was born in Lake City and moved from Ocala to Gainesville 25 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Eartha Stockton Bing of Gainesville; three daughters, Kimberly Bing, Joyce Law and Maragret Donaldson, all of Gainesville; four sons, Eddie Bing of Ocala, Leonard Robinson of Citra, and Isaiah Robinson and Kenneth Robinson, both of Gainesville; four brothers, Clyde Bing, Lish Bing and Eugene Bing, all of Fort White, and Raymond Bing of Reddick; a sister, Bessie Mae Williams of High Springs; 22 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.

Emmitt R. Brewer

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Emmitt R. Brewer of Keystone Heights died Wednesday at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park after a long illness. He was 73.

Mr. Brewer was a retired coal miner. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was born in Barney, W.Va., and moved from Jacksonville to Keystone Heights 11 years ago.

Mr. Brewer was a member of Melrose Calvary Temple Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Brewer of Keystone Heights; three daughters, Dixie Brewer of Keystone Heights, Wanda Moore of Jacksonville and Brenda Johnson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sons, Gary Brewer of Callahan and Okey Brewer of Cleveland; two sisters, Betty Barney and Vicky Collier, both of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.
