Diane Louise Ohl

LIVE OAK - Diane Louise Ohl of Live Oak died Wednesday in Live Oak due to cancer. She was 57.

Mrs. Ohl was a waitress and a bondsman.

Born in Meadville, Pa., she moved to Live Oak four years ago.

Survivors include a son, Danny Gillette of Cocoa; three daughters, Patty Serafini of Cocoa, Donna Stratton of Live Oak and Natalie Wood of Palm Beach Gardens; a sister, Sandy Shellenberger of Meadville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Alice Bailey Pope

Alice Bailey Pope of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 73.

Mrs. Pope was a retired high school guidance counselor.

Born in Ithaca, N.Y., she moved from Hamilton, N.Y., to Gainesville three months ago.

She received her master's degree from Cornell University in Ithaca.

Mrs. Pope was an Episcopalian.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore P. Pope of Gainesville; two daughters, Carolyn Gowan of Hamilton and Virginia Pope of Philadelphia; a sister, Carolyn B. Troupin of Gainesville; and three grandsons.

Judy Gann Stephens

Judy Gann Stephens of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 58.

Mrs. Stephens was a former secretary and a homemaker.

Born in Gainesville, she moved from Orange Park back to Gainesville four months ago.

She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1956 and attended the University of Florida.

Mrs. Stephens was a member of North Central Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Stephens.

Survivors include two sons, Steve C. Stephens of Jacksonville and William Scott Stephens of Gainesville; her parents, Clifford R. and Retha Chesser Gann of Gainesville; and one granddaughter.

Ruth L. Terry

STARKE - Ruth L. "Sugar" Terry of Starke died Wednesday at Shands at Lake Shore in Lake City. She was 74.

Mrs. Terry was retired from Green Thumb Inc.

She was a lifelong resident of Starke and a graduate of R.J.E. High School in Starke. She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Starke.

Survivors include two daughters, Hattie Jones of Starke and Rosetta Steward of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Lynford Terry and Roosevelt Reed, both of Starke; three sisters, Eula Mae Robinson of Jacksonville, Ruby Fisher and Ranell English, both of Starke; and a brother, Pleamon Albert of Gainesville.

Virginia Blair Trainham

ALACHUA - Virginia Blair Trainham of Alachua died Thursday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Trainham was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Alachua. She also was a former employee at Jay's Dress Shop and Wilson's Department Store.

Born in Covington County, Ala., she moved from Carthage, N.Y., to Alachua 40 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Irv Trainham of Alachua; a daughter, Patricia Ann Teuton of Archer; a son, Donald Irvin Trainham of Archer; a brother, Jerry Hassell of Ocala; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Preston Joseph Beach

Preston Joseph "Bob" Beach of Gainesville died Tuesday at Hospice House of Gainesville. He was 74.

Mr. Beach was a retired wholesale distributor at Fleming Inc. in Lakeland. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

Born in Laurel, Del., he moved from Plant City to Gainesville 11 years ago.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Mr. Beach was a Methodist, but attended a Baptist church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Beach of Gainesville; a daughter, Monica A. Jurnigan of Cross Creek; a son, Ronald D. Daniel of Plant City; his mother, Catherine E. Hearn of Cross Creek; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Louise Brown

STARKE - Mary Louise Brown of Starke died April 9 at Shands at Starke. She was 86.

Mrs. Brown was a retired cosmetologist.

Born in Pennsylvania, she moved from Williston to Starke four months ago.

She was a member of the Archer Baptist Church.

Survivors include a caregiver, Virginia L. Browning of Starke.

Violet Christie Dring

Violet Christie Dring of Gainesville died Tuesday at Palm Garden of Gainesville. She was 90.

Mrs. Dring was a homemaker and a former Rockette who performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Born in New York City, she moved from Miami to Gainesville 19 years ago.

Mrs. Dring was a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Perry Dring.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Dring Squitieri of Gainesville; her caregiver, Arlena Gay of Gainesville; eight grandchildren, including Richard Ross Howe, Charles Edward Howe and Robert Howe Hampton, all of Gainesville; and 11 great-grandchildren.

William Charles Glover

William Charles Glover of Gainesville died Tuesday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 72.

Mr. Glover was a retired truck driver and former police officer. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

As a police officer, he received the National Hero Award for saving someone's life in a fire.

Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., he moved from Southbend, Ind., to Gainesville 10 years ago.

Mr. Glover received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Indiana.

He volunteered for the University of Florida's College of Nursing and Pharmacy.

Mr. Glover was a member of the Church of God in Anderson, Ind., and American Legion Post 16. He was the Webmaster for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2811.

Survivors include two sons, William Glover of Kenosha, Wis., and Richard A. Glover of Middleville, Mich.; five sisters, Mary Crumb of Fort Wayne, Ind., Iris Koch of Pleasant Lake and Nancy Carlton, Kate Nuzum and Flo Tilton, all of St. Petersburg; two brothers, George Glover of St. Petersburg and Robert Glover of Benton, La.; and three grandchildren.

Judith Marie Holley

LAKE BUTLER - Judith Marie Holley of Lake Butler died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 61.

Mrs. Holley was a homemaker and a retired optician.

Born in Parkton, N.C., she moved from Fernandina Beach to Lake Butler 22 years ago.

She was an artist and a member of Faith Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Holley of Lake Butler; three sons, Steve Holley of Calabasas, Calif., Mike Holley of Providence and Shane Holley of Lake Butler; a daughter, Christel Holley-Highland of Gainesville; her mother, Bernice Cashwell of Starke; and three grandchildren.
