Marjory A. Carter

Marjory A. Carter of Gainesville died Thursday in Kailua, Oahu. She was 79.

Mrs. Carter was an artist.

Born in Pittsburgh, she moved to Gainesville 12 years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Mann of Gainesville and Margie Holzman of Oahu; a sister, Ruth Anderson of Florida;dk location five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Winnie Eve Painter

ZOLFO SPRINGS - Winnie Eve Painter of Zolfo Springs died Thursday at her home. She was 58.

Mrs. Painter was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Born in Gainesville, she moved from Orlando to Zolfo Springs 19 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, George E. Painter of Zolfo Springs; a son; a daughter; three brothers, including Haynesworth Williams of Gainesville and James Earl Williams of High Springs; and a sister.

Andrew Leon Yates

Andrew Leon Yates of Gainesville died Thursday at his home. He was 47.

Mr. Yates was a construction worker.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Survivors include his father, Mayes V. Yates Jr. of Newberry; two brothers, Donald J. Yates and Mayes V. Yates III, both of Newberry; and a sister, Betty J. Ridgell of Newberry.

Arthur Morris

Arthur "Naddey" Morris of Gainesville died April 15 at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was 82.

The Rev. Morris was a retired truck driver.

Born in Ocala, he moved to Gainesville 57 years ago.

He was a Mason and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Arthur Morris of New York City, Bennett Morris, Arthur two arthurs Curtis Morris and Bobby Morris, all of Gainesville, and Ossie Thomas Sr. of Virginia; six daughters, Elaine Morris, Patricia Jeter, Betty J. Morris, Ethereen Polite and Rutha Mae McRae, all of Gainesville, and Atha Morris of Crystal River; a sister, Gertrude Ford of Ocala; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Michael Vincent Westbrook

LEE - Michael Vincent Westbrook of Lee died unexpectedly Thursday in Lee. He was 48.

Mr. Westbrook was a plant manager at Florida Power Corp. in Suwannee County.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, he moved from Suwannee County to Lee six years ago.

He was a member of Lee Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda S. Westbrook of Lee; a son; a brother; and a sister.

Kathleen Rose Behnke

Kathleen Rose Behnke of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at the University of Florida after a long illness. She was 58.

Miss Behnke was born in Wausau, Wis., and moved from Wausau to Gainesville 55 years ago.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her mother, Frances Behnke of Gainesville; and two sisters, Barbara Cannon of Gainesville and Anita Furman of Shalimar.

Cora Lee Bradley

MICANOPY - Cora Lee Bradley of Micanopy died Tuesday at her home after a short illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Bradley was retired from Franklin Crate Mill.

She was a lifelong resident of Micanopy and a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School.

Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Home Mission at Mount Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Bradley Jr. of Grove Park; three daughters, Maxine Bradley of Micanopy, and Glory Peace and Joyce Cromartie, both of Gainesville; and five grandchildren.

Lois Louise Jernigan Bryan

Lois Louise Jernigan Bryan of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness. She was 47.

Mrs. Bryan was a homemaker.

Born in McIntosh, she was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

She was a Gator football fan.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore A. "Ted" Bryan of Gainesville; a daughter, Tina Louise "Lisa" Williams of Gainesville; her father, Curtis D. Jernigan of Gainesville; a sister, Nancy Diane J. Bowman of Trenton; and two granddaughters.

Ernest Civitarese

Ernest Civitarese of Gainesville died Wednesday at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. He was 85.

Mr. Civitarese was the retired owner of Bill's Shoe Repair in Gainesville. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Italy, he moved from Palatka to Gainesville 32 years ago.

He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marcella "Dolly" F. Civitarese of Gainesville; a daughter, Sandra Byrne of Ocala; a son, Ernest James Civitarese of High Springs; a brother, Anthony Civitarese of Melrose; a sister, Mary Margeson of Peabody, Mass.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Harold Chandler Jr.

STARKE - Harold Chandler Jr. of Starke died unexpectedly Saturday in St. Augustine. He was 27.

Mr. Chandler was a landscaper at Florida Sod.

He was a lifelong resident of Starke and attended Santa Fe Community College after graduating from Bradford High School.

Mr. Chandler was a member of Free Cannon God Church of Praise in Starke.

Survivors include his wife, Danielle Chandler of Starke; two daughters, De Ja Chandler and Luciera Ham, both of Starke; his mother, Gertrude Brown of Starke; his father, Harold Chandler Sr. of Starke; a brother, Adrian Chandler of Starke; and his grandmothers, Rose Brown and Ada Chandler, both of Starke.

Ernest Fredrick Hoppock

OCALA - Ernest Fredrick Hoppock of Ocala died Thursday at Munroe Medical Center in Ocala. He was 85.

Mr. Hoppock was a retired real estate broker. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Hunterdon County, N.J., he moved from Gainesville to Ocala six years ago.

He was a member of the Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Dunnellon and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Hoppock of Gainesville.

Kelvin L. James

Kelvin L. James of Gainesville died April 14 at Shands at AGH due to injuries suffered in a motorbike accident. He was 23.

Mr. James was a laborer.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Mr. James was a Protestant.

Survivors include his parents, Wilhelmina and Wilbur James of Gainesville; two brothers, Ruben Sheppard and Keith Sheppard, both of Gainesville; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Anderson of Gainesville; and his paternal grandmother, Doris James of Gainesville.
