Jane B. Conner
Jane B. Conner of Gainesville died Monday at her home after a long illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Conner was a homemaker and a nature photographer. Her photographs appeared in works by author Archie Carr and in Look, Audubon Magazine and National Geographic.
Born in Germantown, Pa., she moved to Gainesville 64 years ago. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Mrs. Conner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, the Daylily Circle, League of Women Voters and the University Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Conner, a former vice president at the University of Florida; and a son, William Borden Conner.
Survivors include a son, James F. Conner II of Gainesville.

Katharina Deutsch
ORANGE HEIGHTS - Katharina Deutsch of Orange Heights died Wednesday in Starke after a long illness. She was 96.
Mrs. Deutsch was a homemaker.
Born in Austria, she moved to the United States 67 years ago before moving from White Plains, N.Y., to Orange Heights 43 years ago.
She was a member of Orange Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Deutsch was preceded in death by her husband, Franz Deutsch.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Cassidy of Orange Heights; a son, Frank Deutsch of Peachtree City, Ga.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
James Edward George
James Edward George of St. Petersburg died Saturday at Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Hospital in Bay Pines after a short illness. He was 49.
Mr. George was a deliveryman for a furniture company. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.
Born in Lake Butler, he moved from Gainesville to St. Petersburg last year. He graduated from Union County High School and attended Lake City Community College.
Mr. George was a member of Mt. Ellah Baptist Church in Evinston.
Survivors include his wife, Jaueline George of St. Petersburg; eight daughters, Phyllis Mitchell, Jamea George and Hillary George, all of Gainesville, Daphne George and Tonnie George, both of Olustee, LaKeycia George of Tampa, and Jamie George and LaTasha Williams, both of St. Petersburg; two stepsons, James Williams and Patrick Williams of Gainesville; two brothers, David George of West Palm Beach and Irvin George of Orlando; five sisters, Earline Hogan of Lakeland, Essie Dye of Jasper, Delores O'Neal of Lake City, Louvonia Myers of Lake Butler and Dorothy Jefferson of Jacksonville; and six grandchildren.
Frank Gibson
PALATKA - Frank Gibson of Palatka died Tuesday at his home. He was 77.
Mr. Gibson was a manager of taxes for Hudson Pulp and Paper Co. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Born in Gainesville, he moved to Palatka 37 years ago.
He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Florida.
Mr. Gibson was a member of Tax Executives Institute.
Survivors include two brothers, Harry Gibson of Gainesville and Paul Gibson of Orlando; a niece; and two nephews, including Michael E. Gibson of Gainesville.
John Albert Glance
PALATKA - John Albert "Al" Glance of Palatka died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was 52.
Brother Glance was a licensed hearing aid specialist and had owned and operated Al Glance Hearing Aid Centers in Palatka and Keystone Heights. He was a pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Bardin.
He was a former pastor at the Mission Road Baptist Church in Palatka, New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesville and Southside Baptist Church in Palatka. He also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Born in Waynesville, N.C., he moved from Alabama to Palatka 35 years ago. He was a 1965 graduate of Palatka Senior High School.
Brother Glance received an award for bravery and citizenship for saving a boy from a burning car.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Glance of Palakta; two daughters, Tammy Fuller of Hollister and Cindee Tillis of Palatka; a son, John Glance of Bardin; his mother, Edith Glance of Palatka; a sister, Edith Carroll of New Carlisle, Ohio; three brothers, Kenneth Glance of Daytona Beach, James Glance of Clyde, N.C., and Jerry Glance of Palatka; and six grandchildren.

Pinkey Mae Jones Hathcock
Pinkey Mae Jones Hathcock of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at AGH after a long illness. She was 57.
Mrs. Hathcock was a homemaker.
Born in Ocala, she moved from Ocala to Gainesville 37 years ago.
She was a Sunday school attendant and a member of the Home Mission Society at the First Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Louis Hathcock Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Hathcock Sr. of Gainesville; two daughters, Bridget H. Jordan and Ebony Hathcock, both of Gainesville; two sisters, Jerlene Gainey and Rosa Lee Elliott, both of Gainesville; four brothers, Odell Jones and Herman Jones, both of Ocala, Deacon Sammie Lee Jones of Gainesville and Freddie L. Jones of Tallahassee; one grandchild; and three step-grandchildren.
Bobby Wayne Hitt
ARCHER - Bobby Wayne Hitt of Archer died Wednesday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 52.
Mr. Hitt was a boiler maker and the owner of a mobile home repair business in Archer and Gainesville. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Born in Manila, Ark., he moved from Crystal River to Archer 14 years ago.
He was a member of the Church of God in Archer, the Masonic Lodge in Inverness and the Boiler Maker Local in Tampa.
Survivors include his wife, Constance L. Hitt of Archer; a daughter, Theresa Elaine Hitt of Fergus Falls, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Ann Hunting of San Ramon, Calif., and Tammy Sue Burton of Pleasanton, Calif; his mother, Zella Virginia Hitt of Polk City; three brothers, Larry Edgar Hitt of Bristol, Tenn., James A. Hitt of Bluff City, Tenn., and Ricky J. Hitt of Blytheville, Ark.; and three grandsons.

Delores Means of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 46.
Mrs. Means was a homemaker and child care provider.
Born in Archer, she moved to Gainesville 10 years ago.

Williams of Gainesville; her father and stepmother, Henry and Adell Means of Gainesville; four sisters, Earnestine Brown of Lakeland, Ga., Diane McClendon and Brenda Phillip, both of Gainesville, and Patricia Wiggins of Archer; four brothers, James Edward Lane of Asbury Park, N.J., Arthur Lewis Lane of Pompano Beach, Wayne Means of Valdosta, Ga., and Jerry Tucker of Archer; two stepsisters, Ora Lee Williams of Gainesville and Della Mae Young of Alachua; and three stepbrothers, Ulysses Hayes, Bernard Brown and Harold Brown, all of Alachua.
Gilmore Scott
Gilmore Scott of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at AGH after a long illness. He was 88.
Mr. Scott was a retired employee for Gainesville's sanitation department. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Born in Rochelle, he moved to Gainesville more than 50 years ago.
He was a deacon at Third Bethel Baptist Church of Rochelle and was a member of the American Legion No. 306 and the United Deacons Class.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a stepson, Gene Bailey.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd Allen Green Sr. of Waycross, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Christine Bailey of New York City and Lestine Bailey of Gainesville; a sister, Willie Mae Barker of Gainesville; a caregiver, Willie Mae Williams of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Joseph Francis Vogel
Joseph Francis Vogel of Gainesville died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 82.
Mr. Vogel was a professor emeritus in the department of English at the University of Florida. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Dec. 7, 1941 attack.
Born in Breckenridge, Minn., he moved to Gainesville 34 years ago. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami, and received a doctorate from the University of Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia Yu Vogel of Gainesville; a daughter, Mary Walton of Ocean Grove, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Clare Yu of Irvine, Calif.; a stepson, Cheng Yu of Tallahassee; three brothers, George Vogel of Arvada, Colo., Jack Vogel of Seabrook, Texas, and Robert Vogel of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Marie Vogel of Thornton, Colo., and Mary Pagliuca of Phoenix; and two granddaughters.

Gladys Marie Deavers Wilson of Gainesville died April 20 at her daughter's home in Gainesville. She was 78.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Born in Beltsville, Md., she lived in Beltsville for 55 years ago before moving to Gainesville eight months ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mendel Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Mosley of Gainesville; two sons, Mendel W. Wilson of Lantham, Md., and Keith N. Wilson of Baltimore; two sisters, Mary France and Irene Morgan, both of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
