Marguerite Edna Smith

JENA - Marguerite Edna Smith of Jena died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 79.

Mrs. Smith was a factory worker.

Born in Plant City, she moved from Plant City to Jena 16 years ago.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed crocheting, quilting and fishing.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Crider Jr. of Jena and Dock Wesley Crider of Jasper; a daughter, Betty Fewox of Jena; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Danielle Nicole Smith

Danielle Nicole Smith of Gainesville died Sunday in an auto accident that also killed her father, Abraham Smith Jr. She was 10.

Danielle was a fourth-grader at Kimball Wiles Elementary School.

She was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Survivors include her mother, Karen D. Auer of Gainesville; her stepfather, Jorge Nunez Sr. of Gainesville; a brother, Benjamin R. Nunez of Gainesville; a stepbrother, Jorge Nunez Jr. of Gainesville; a stepsister, Michelle Nunez of Gainesville; her maternal grandmother, Arlene Auer of Brandon; and her paternal grandmother, Viola Smith of Tallahassee.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Kimball Wiles Elementary School in Gainesville.

Dalton Townsend

BRANFORD - Dalton "Mutt" Townsend of Branford died Saturday at Hospice House in Gainesville. He was 71.

Mr. Townsend was a farmer and a member of Walker Creek Baptist Church.

He was a lifelong resident of Branford.

Survivors include two sons, Dalton A. Townsend of High Springs and Don Townsend of Branford; a daughter, Donnie Smith of Lufkin, Texas; two step-daughters, Edna Ownes of Perry and Jessie Morris of Old Town; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Peggy Ann Foley

STARKE - Peggy Ann Foley of Starke died Saturday at Shands at Starke following an extended illness. She was 64.

Mrs. Foley was born in Brickeys, Ark., and moved to Starke 10 years ago from Miami. She was a homemaker, a retired convenience store clerk and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel H. Foley of Starke; and stepparents George and Miriam Galik of Hialeah.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Salvation Army, 639 E. University Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601.

Fred Palmer Gallop

OLD TOWN - Fred Palmer Gallop died Thursday at his home. He was 59.

Mr. Gallop served in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring after 20 years.

Born in Wanchese, N.C., he lived here for 23 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Cross City.

He is survived by two daughters, Joey Henderson of Cross City and Judy Keets of Old Town; two grandsons; and one granddaughter; and special friend Edna Sullivan.

Una Lowry Hasler

Una Lowry Hasler of Gainesville died Friday at Shands AGH after a brief illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Hasler was a homemaker in recent years and formerly was employed by Belk Lindsey company. Born in Franklin County, she attended school at Taylor Hill near Frisco, Ill. She was a homemaker before she moved to Gainesville in 1958.

Mrs. Hasler was a member of Countryside Baptist Church of Gainesville and an active member of the Joy Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Hasler, and a son, Lloyd W. King.

She is survived by a son, Harold L. King of Gainesville; two sisters, Erma Pearce of Ewing, Ill., and Ruth Lowry of Mount Vernon, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Noel C. Johnson

JACKSONVILLE - Noel C. Johnson of Keystone Heights died May 1 in Jacksonville. He was 38.

Mr. Johnson was a retired plasterer in the construction industry.

He moved to Keystone Heights two years ago from Jacksonville.

He is survived by his parents, Herbert and Bettie Johnson Sr. of Keystone Heights; two daughters, Nicole and Rachel Johnson, both of Jacksonville; four brothers, Mark and Terry Johnson, both of Jacksonville, John Johnson of Keystone Heights and Daniel Johnson of Starke; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Inez Clementine Leigh

OCALA - Inez Clementine Leigh died Friday in Ocala. She was 90.

Mrs. Leigh was a homemaker who came to Ocala from St. Petersburg in the mid-1980s.

She was a member of the Williston Church of God, a past member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Holiday Hope for Kids.

Survivors include a son, James A. Leigh of Sarasota; a daughter, Marlene L. Marshall of Ocala; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Theodore Elmo Parker

LAKE CITY - Theodore Elmo Parker, 83, of Lake City, died Saturday, May 8, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, following an extended illness.

Mr. Parker had been employed in the maintenance department of the Alachua County School Board for 15 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

A native of Ocala, Mr. Parker had resided in Micanopy before moving to Lake City. He was a charter member of the Oakdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Parker of Lake City; his daughter, Dorothy (Clint) Waltrip of Lake City; his grandson Shawn Stephens of Lake City; his sister, Vernice Sheltrone of Hernando; and a grandson.

Carol Joann Wehling

STARKE - Carol Joann Wehling of Starke died Saturday after an extended illness. She was 58.

Mrs. Wehling was a homemaker, who was born in Starke and lived there most of her life.

She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Wehling of Starke; a daughter, Deborah Watson of Starke; a son, Donald Gregory Dukes of Jacksonville; a son-in-law, Leland Watson of Starke; her mother and stepfather, Alva and Stanley Padgett of Lake Butler; three brothers, Doug Thomas of Atlanta, Sam Moody of Lake Butler and Jimmy Werre of Fernandina Beach; one sister, Susan Ray of Lake Butler; and two grandchildren.
