Johnny H. Heathcoat

ORANGE SPRINGS - Johnny H. Heathcoat of Orange Springs died Thursday in Orange Springs. He was 89.

Mr. Heathcoat was employed by the city of Gainesville's Parks and Recreation Department.

He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and moved from Gainesville to Orange Springs four years ago.

Mr. Heathcoat was a member of the Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rendy Mantlo Heathcoat.

Survivors include seven sons, John Heathcoat, Doyle Heathcoat, Henry Heathcoat and Joe Heathcoat, all of Orange Springs, Fred Heathcoat of Gainesville, David Heathcoat of Belleview and Gene Heathcoat of Ocala; a sister, Effie Adams of Lawrenceburg; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Anne W. Hopwood

Anne W. Hopwood of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Hopwood was a teacher, Realtor and homemaker.

She was born in Massachusetts and moved from Fort Lauderdale to Gainesville six years ago.

Mrs. Hopwood received a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State University.

Survivors include three sons, Perry Petersen of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Jay Petersen of Campbell, Calif., and Robert Petersen of Gainesville; a stepdaughter, Wendy Deckner of Hartford, Conn.; three stepsons, Gary Hopwood of Phoenix, Ariz., Larry Hopwood of Connecticutdkcity and Curt Hopwood of Paducah, Ky.; a brother, Richard Williams of Maryland;dkcity and one granddaughter.

Herman W. Nobles

BRONSON - Herman W. Nobles of Bronson died Thursday in Bronson after a long illness. He was 84.

Mr. Nobles was a retired land surveyor.

He was born in Ocala and moved from Ocala to Bronson 35 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Johnny R. Nobles of Trenton; two daughters, Donna Conquest and Kimberly Conquest, both of Bronson; a brother, Herbert Nobles of Ocala; a sister, Reba Denman of Venice; and five grandchildren.

Ida Susan Trowell Parrish

LAKE BUTLER - Ida Susan Trowell Parrish of Lake Butler died Thursday at her daughter's home in Lake Butler. She was 83.

Mrs. Parrish was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was born in Homerville, Ga., and lived most of her life in the Lake Butler area.

Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Parrish; and a son, Marshall Parrish.

Survivors include a daughter, Nethra Phillips of Lake Butler; two sisters, Margaret Timberlake of Ellisville and Effie Waldron of Odom, Ga.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jovan Ramos

Jovan Ramos was stillborn Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Edith Ramos of Newberry; a sister, Elsie Ramos of Newberry; two brothers, Porin Ramos of Fort Riley, Kan., and Jim Alexander Ramos of Newberry; his maternal grandmother, Luesa Billagas of Panama; his maternal grandfather, Germa Moran of Panama; his paternal grandmother, Judith Villalovos of Puerto Rico; and his paternal grandfather, Cruz Ramos of Puerto Rico.

James E. Robbins

James E. Robbins of Gainesville died unexpectedly Friday at his home. He was 67.

Dr. Robbins owned an ophthalmology practice in Gainesville.

Born in Florence, Ala., he moved to Gainesville 38 years ago.

Dr. Robbins was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Alachua County Medical Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Gainesville Golf and Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Marianne S. Robbins of Gainesville; a daughter, Elizabeth R. Agnvall of Washington, D.C.; a son, James W. Robbins of Los Angeles; a sister, Maryann Vogler of Neenah, Wis.; and a granddaughter.

Robert Pierce Wood

Robert Pierce Wood of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH. He was 73.

Mr. Wood retired as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy after serving in World War II and the Korean War. He later retired from the University of Florida.

Born in Evinston, he was a lifelong resident of Alachua County.

Mr. Wood was a Methodist and a past master of the Masonic Lodge No. 29 in Micanopy.

He was preceded in death by a son, David James Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice G. Wood of Gainesville; a son, Robert P. Wood III of Gainesville; three brothers, Edward L. Wood of Gainesville, Hal "Deaver" Wood of Virginia Beach, Va., and James William Wood of Evinston; and one granddaughter.

John L. Burley Sr.

TRENTON - John L. "Jack" Burley Sr. of Trenton died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. He was 61.

Mr. Burley was a real estate broker. He also served in the National Guard.

He was born in Valdosta, Ga., and moved from Tarpon Springs to Trenton 35 years ago.

Mr. Burley was a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Burley of Trenton; a son, John L. Burley Jr. of Live Oak; a brother, James A. Burley of Yachats,cq Ore.; a sister, Frances Hamilton of Frisco, Texas; and one grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida or to Alzheimer's Association in Gainesville.

Hubert Corbitt

BRONSON - Hubert Corbittcq of Bronson died Wednesday at home after a short illness. He was 81.

Mr. Corbitt was a retired foreman for Florida Power and Light Co. He also served in U.S. Army during World War II.

He was born in Jeffersonville, Ga., and moved from Crystal River to Bronson four years ago.

Mr. Corbitt was a Methodist and a member of the Hialeah Opa-Locka Lodge No. 391 F&AM.;

Survivors include three sons, Harold Glenncq Corbitt, Robert B. Corbitt and Steven Allen Corbitt, all of Bronson; a daughter, Martha Lee Beck of Miami; and six grandchildren.

Juanita Bingham Cox

Juanita Bingham Cox of Gainesville died Sunday in Gainesville from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was 64.

Mrs. Cox was a certified nurse's aide for the Oaks Residential and Rehab Center.

She was born in Micanopy and moved from Williston to Gainesville 18 years ago.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Roach of Tampa, Valarie Cox of Fayetteville, N.C., and Juanita Wilson of Gainesville; three sons, Oscar Cox of Palmyra, N.Y., Samuel Cox Jr. of Gainesville and Gregory Cox of Micanopy; a brother, Lewis Bingham of Tampa; and eight grandchildren.

Earl Bernard Harris

Earl Bernard "O.J." Harris of Gainesville died Jan. 8 at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 42.

Mr. Harris was a carpenter's apprentice.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville and a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sisters, Dolores H. Clark, Carrie Belle H. Sutton, Carolyn Harris and Sarah S. Harris, all of Gainesville; and three brothers, Andrew Ford, Richard L. Harris and Larry Harris, all of Gainesville.
