Ruth F. Lord

Ruth F. Lord of Alachua died Thursday in Gainesville after a short illness. She was 76.

Miss Lord worked for about 30 years in the insurance and billing departments at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Fort White and later moved to Orlando. She moved from Fort White to Alachua two years ago.

Survivors include six sisters; Annis Deal of Brooksville, Beulah Chance of Odessa, Texas; Myrline LaFollette of Kansas City, Mo.; Ellen Watson of Orlando; Iva Grazioli of Charleston, S.C.; and Lois Guy of Alachua.

Vernon R. Myers

BRONSON - Vernon R. Myers of Bronson died Thursday in Bronson after short illness. He was 95.

Mr. Myers was a retired auto mechanic and welder.

He was born in Collomsville, Pa., and came to Bronson 27 years ago from Fort Lauderdale.

Mr. Myers belonged to the First Baptist Church in Bronson. He also was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to Masonic Lodge 332 in Fort Lauderdale.

Survivors include a son, William Vernon Myers of Bronson; two daughters, Janet Warren of Bronson and Kathryn Fleming of Canton, Ga.; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Brook Bennett Perryman

BROOKER - Brook Bennett Perryman of Brooker died at her home after a long illness. She was 95.

Mrs. Perryman was a sales clerk at McCrory's in Gainesville for many years.

Mrs. Perryman was born in Alachua County and lived most of her life in Levy County. She belonged to the Rock Primitive Baptist Church in Brooker.

She was was preceded in death by her husband, Friedman Perryman.

Survivors include her daughter, Freida L. Mott of Brooker; two sisters, Ida Brock and Gladys Munn, both of Trenton; three grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Edward Pritchard

Edward Pritchard of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville after a short illness. He was 88.

Mr. Pritchard was a retired insurance salesman for Standard Accident Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Pritchard was born in Detroit and came from Freesoil, Mich., to Gainesville 17 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Luxton Pritchard of Gainesville; a daughter, Gwen Peters of Monroe, Mich.; and two sisters, Shirley Luttenberger and Anna Magnee, both of Michigan.

Dr. Clyde Bass

LIVE OAK - Dr. Clyde Bass of Live Oak died Saturday at Shands Hospital at Live Oak after a short illness. He was 89.

Dr. Bass was born in Live Oak. He was a veterinarian and a farmer, who earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Florida in 1933 and earned a doctorate in veterinarian medicine from Alabama Polytechnic Institute - now Auburn University - in 1935.

Dr. Bass worked for the state as a veterinarian in the Panhandle before returning to Live Oak to open Bass Animal Clinic. He belonged to various state, regional and national professional organizations. He served on the Suwannee County School Board for 10 years. Dr. Bass was also a member of Mount Zion Christian Church all of his life, serving as a deacon and other officer positions.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Lundy Bass of Live Oak; two sons, Andrew Bass and Lundy Bass, both of Live Oak; two daughters, Elizabeth Bolton of Gainesville and Suzanne Bass Parker of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Audrey Hague

HAWTHORNE - Audrey Hague of Hawthorne died Saturday in her home following an extended illness. She was 59.

Mrs. Hague was born in Gainesville, and was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Hague is preceded in death by her husband, Gidden B. "Red" Hague Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Ford, Kathy Neeley and Deborah Clark, all of Hawthorne; two sons, Gidden Hague Jr. and Marcus Hague, both of Hawthorne; four brothers, James L. Carroll of Gainesville, Arvis Carroll and Coy M. Carroll, both of Hawthorne, and Lewis C. Carroll of Windsor; five sisters, Ellen Atkinson of Rockingham, N.C., Wilman Bowman of Gainesville, Christine Fowler of Gainesville, Addie Wise of Gadsden, Ala., and Judy Banner of Ocoee; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Georgia Tyson

SUN CITY, Ariz. - Georgia Tyson of Sun City died Thursday in Sun City. She was 97.

Mrs. Tyson was the owner, along with her husband, of a small chain of grocery stores in Plant City.

She was born in Trenton and graduated as valedictorian from Trenton High School. After graduation, she taught math and coached the girls basketball team at Trenton High.

For about 25 years, she lived in Gainesville, where she was active in the local bowling league.

Mrs. Tyson was active in the Eastern Star in Plant City, where she served as the Worthy Matron the same year her husband served as Worthy Patron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Tyson, and a daughter, Margy Wurzburger.

Survivors include a son, Zariel Tyson of Sun City; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Stevens Cake

Dorothy Stevens "Dottie" Cake of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville. She was 86.

Mrs. Cake was a retired teacher and placement specialist.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., she received a master's degree in Home Economics from Cornell University, and moved from McIntosh to Gainesville four months ago.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of McIntosh, the Garden Club and the Friends of McIntosh.

She also was a church organist, choir director, African Violet culturist, bird watcher and an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin W. "Ned" Cake Sr. of McIntosh; two daughters, Barbara Cake Nickel of Ormond Beach and Mary Cake Husa of Irving, Texas; three sons, William Cake and Robert Bruce Cake, both of Gainesville, and Edwin Wood Cake Jr. of Ocean Springs, Miss.; three sisters, Marion Gearreald of Norfolk, Va., Bernie Nickerson of Binghamton and Barbara Knesel of Deltona; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Christina Garsa

WILLISTON - Christina Garsa of Williston died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was 70.

Mrs. Garsa was a former housekeeper for Nature Coast Regional Hospital in Williston.

Born in Victoria, Texas, she moved from Victoria to Williston 44 years ago. Mrs. Garsa was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Williston.

Survivors include her husband, Faustino Garsa of Williston; a son, Lupe Alvarez of Williston; four daughters, Janie Hernandez of Williston, Ramona Carrillo and Maria Calvillo, both of Bronson, and Violanda Bairam of St. Petersburg; a brother, Clyde Rodriguez; two sisters, Bonnie Marinez of Williston and Fama Rodriguez of Texas; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Bess York Harrell

Mary Bess York Harrell of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville. She was 82.

Mrs. Harrell was a homemaker.

Born in Perry, she moved from Orlando to Gainesville 50 years ago.

Mrs. Harrell was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star in Micanopy and the Gainesville Woman's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Harrell Sr.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Harrell Hovis of Clermont, Kay Joyce H. Greathouse and Rosemary Harrell, both of Gainesville, and Molly Kate Harrell of St. Augustine; two sons, Frank Harrell Jr. and Daniel G. Greathouse, both of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Glen Lyle Boulon

OLD TOWN - Glen Lyle Boulon of Old Town died Wednesday at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Boulon was an airplane builder for North American Rockwell in Columbus, Ohio. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

Born in Columbus, he moved from Columbus to Old Town 16 years ago.

Mr. Boulon enjoyed boating, repairing old cars and playing the organ.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Moyer Boulon of Chiefland; a daughter, A. Kay Spinnenweber of West Chester, Pa.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elmer J. Jacob

MICANOPY - Elmer J. Jacob of Micanopy died Thursday in Micanopy. He was 78.

Mr. Jacob was a former supervisor of buildings and grounds in the Elmont School District in Elmont, N.Y.

Born in Flushing, N.Y., he moved from Long Island, N.Y., to Micanopy 30 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Marino Jacob of Micanopy; a daughter, Mary Jane Jacob of Chicago; two sons, Thomas Jacob and Jonathan Jacob, both of Micanopy; and two grandchildren.
