John H. Hines
John H. Hines, 87, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
He was born in Canton, OH on July 20, 1922 to the late William H. Hines and Florence (Warstler) Hines.
Mr. Hines moved to Central Florida from Canton, OH in 1956. He was a cabinet maker by trade and a member of the Nazarene Church.
Mr. Hines is survived by his son, Duane Hines (Doris); daughters, Diann Woodhouse (Larry) and Melanie Hicks (Gary); sisters, Julia Hobbs and Pearl Hinderschied; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL.
Interment will immediately follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, FL.
Marjorie S. Murray
Marjorie S. Murray, 65, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
She was born on March 11, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sylvan Shapiro and Elaine (Lehman) Shapiro.
Marjorie married
Patrick J. Murray, M. Ed. (who also is a teacher) and received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Miami at Coral Gables, FL in 1967. Her early career years included teaching institutionalized children with severe and profound disabilities and developing instructional programs at south Florida private schools. Upon receiving her Master of Education from the University of Miami in 1971, she supervised University of Miami student teachers in Dade County, and was a part time educational consultant for HRS, Region XI.
During those years the Murrays were blessed with unique and wonderful children and an active family life of continuing traditions, dancing schools, Sunday schools, sports, and developing organizational skills to keep the hectic schedules necessary for a buy family and active careers.
Almost all of Marjorie’s life was devoted to the “helping profession” as: camp counselor, activities director, Brownie leader, Cub Scout den mother, Boy Scout Committee Chairman, Teacher of the Mentally Handicapped, Teacher of Children with Autism, Teacher of Children with Communication Disorders, and last, but by far not least, Teacher of “regular,” Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade students.
Marjorie’s work with children with autism was recognized in 1984 with the National Teacher of the Year award from NSAC. That summer the family relocated to a very quiet home in rural Lake County.
While teaching in Leesburg, she worked with the Lake County language arts writing groups, was named Skeen’s Social Studies Teacher of the Year and received the Louie T. Camp Award for Creative Teaching from the Florida Council on Elementary Education. In 1989, she was honored as Altoona Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year and in 1991, she was named Lake County’s Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year by the Florida Council for the Social Studies. In 1999, Marjorie was named Teacher of the Year at Triangle Elementary School and in the Spring of 2000, she received a Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year award and was named Lake County Florida District Teacher of the Year in 2001.
Marjorie was an officer in the Order of Eastern Star, Eustis, Chapter #19; member of Alpha Delta Kappa education fraternity; and an advocate for child adoption.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Murray; son, Lee A. Murray; daughters, Tara N. Murray, Daniechan S. Murray and Faith S. Murray; and brother, Howard K. Shapiro.
A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL with Rabbi Chaim Soloman officiating.

Edmund Stanly Aneszko
Edmund Stanly Aneszko, 98, of Sulphur, KY, previously of Zellwood, FL passed away from natural causes on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in La Grange, KY.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 1, 1911 to the late Wladislaw (Walter) Aneszko and Walinska Zielinska Aneszko.
Mr. Aneszko retired from General Motors as a tool maker/blacksmith.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Aneszko and son, Wallace Aneszko.
Mr. Aneszko is survived by his grandchildren, Jim Aneszko and Iris (McCormick) Aneszko; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Coleton, Donovan, and Max.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 P.M. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Mount Dora Church of Christ.
A funeral service will follow at 2 P.M. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Mount Dora Church of Christ.
Interment will immediately follow at Pine Forest cemetery in Mount Dora, FL.

Douglas J. Strong
Douglas J. Strong, 89, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010.
He was born in Coldwater, MI on January 7, 1921 to the late Roswell B. and Marie (Jucket) Strong.
Mr. Strong attended Coldwater Schools, Cass Tech-Detroit, Wayne State University and University of Detroit.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force flying combat missions over Europe. He received two distinguished Flying Cross Awards and eleven Air Medals.
Mr. Strong spent 30 years in the Foundry Industry. Through the years, he was President of Foundries Materials Co.; President and General Manager of Homer Furnace & Foundry Corp.; President of Coldwater Brass Co; and President of Ideal Pump Co.
Mr. Strong was extremely active and served on numerous boards to include Director, Branch County Bank; Director/Vice Chairman, Coldwater Board of Public Utilities; President, Branch County Industries Assoc.; President, Coldwater Chamber of Commerce; Chapter Chairman, American Foundrymans Society; Chairman, Central Michigan Foundry Management Assoc.; Chairman, Coldwater United Way Fund; Director of Branch, County Cancer Society; President of Lake County, FLA Aviation Assoc; and served two years as a Counselor of SCORE, SBA Division.
Mr. Strong’s hobby was flying. He was a Licensed Commercial Pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joyce L. Strong and two sons, Douglas R. Strong and David Strong. His second wife, Elaine M. Strong, also preceded him in death after 16 years of marriage.
Mr. Strong is survived by his son, Samuel D. Strong; daughter, Sarah Jane Loomis; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Waterman Village Lodge in Mount Dora, FL.

Doris Bernice Lewis McDonald, 90, of Sorrento, FL passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010.
She was born on November 8, 1919 in Santa Barbara Isle of Pine, Cuba to the late James Gaylord Lewis and Violet Eliza (Dean) Lewis.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by four sons, James Wheeler McDonald, Joseph Dale McDonald, Bert L. McDonald, and Jack E. McDonald; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Seminole Springs cemetery in Sorrento, FL.

Mr. Quinton William (Bill) Simkins
Mr. Quinton William (Bill) Simkins, 83, born May 4, 1926 in Camden, NJ died on March 7 at the age of 83.
Bill graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Electrical Engineering followed by graduate studies at Middlebury College and Rutgers University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He began his career at Bell Labs doing research that was ultimately used in the Nasa Space Program. He later worked at IBM where he was founding Director of IBM’s R&D lab in Vermont.
During his 27 years at IBM he also worked in Paris advising IBM’s European Operation and in Armonk, NY where he was Editor of IBM’s technical journals.
Bill retired to Florida where he pursued his love of golf.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Bill’s first wife, Sue, pre-deceased him in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean; his daughters Leslie Linton, Lisa Barnes and Laurie Simkins; grandchildren Erika, Alex and Lindsay; Jean’s children Patty, Wendy, Leslie, Blake and Cathie and their 11 children.
Services will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. at the Waterman Village Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waterman Communities Foundation for the Waterman Chapel.

Joan McTeer Parker
Joan McTeer Parker, 78, of DeBary, FL passed away peacefully and went to Heaven on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler in Orange City.
She was born on April 24, 1931 in Sanford, FL, the fourth of eight children born to the late William F. and Maud McTeer.
She received a Certificate of Award in 1948 for completion of the required studies in Pieces Music Theory and Recital from the Fannie R. Munson Piano School in Sanford.
She graduated from Seminole High School in 1949, was pianist for the school’s Glee Club, and graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas in 1951.
She lived thirty-two years in Orange County, California and was employed at Saddleback Community College in Santa Ana, California for twenty years.
She moved back to Florida in 1987 where she resided at Ponce Inlet, Florida with her husband, Tyron Parker, and was employed at Daytona Beach Community College for fifteen years.
She moved to DeBary in 2003.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tyrone Parker, who died in 2002, and her brothers, Franklin McTeer, Forrest McTeer, Paul McTeer and Mark McTeer.
She was a member of Volusia County Baptist Church, an accomplished pianist, and played the piano at various churches throughout her life and also nursing homes.
She is survived by her sister, Marian (Peg) Brumback, of Ocala, Florida, brother, William McTeer (Jerrie), of Rockport, Texas, and sister, Donna Schuiteman, of Debary; stepson, Anthony (Renee) Parker, of Grand Island, Florida, and stepdaughter, Debra Stevens (Rodney), of Apopka, Florida.
A memorial service will be held at Volusia County Baptist Church, 261 South Orange Avenue, Orange City, at 11:00 A.M. on March 18, 2010, with interment immediately following at Pine Forest Cemetery, N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, FL.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Volusia County Baptist Church Building Fund, 261 S. Orange Ave., Orange City, FL 32763.
Carol H. Miller
Carol H. Miller, age 62, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 following a brief illness. Carol was born in Miami, graduated from Coral Gables High School and Miami-Dade College. She was employed by the Lake County School Board as a Teacher’s Assistant for Special Needs students at Tavares High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora.
She is survived by her husband Larry Miller, her son Joshua of Tavares, daughter Leslie Miller-Owens of Sebring , and granddaughter RaeLynn Owens, and her brother Joseph Robert Hickson of Miami.
Carol was known as a strong advocate for Special Needs Children and enjoyed every working moment at Tavares High School. The family wants to thank all of our friends, our Church family, and all of the medical community for all their thoughts and prayers during Carol’s brief illness.
The family will have a CELEBRATION OF LIFE service for Carol on Saturday, March 13th at 1 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora, 1000 East 1st Avenue, Mount Dora, FL. Our friends are welcome to attend the service. We request that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made the Children’s Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora.
