Jeanette A. Lee, 79 of Citra, Florida passed away on December 24, 2009. She was born in Southgate, California and moved to Citra from Olympia, Washington after living on Boston Harbor Road in Olympia for forty two years. She was a new employee trainer in the insurance industry and a Licensed Commercial Pilot. Mrs. Lee is survived by her husband Thomas P. Lee, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis at 1 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009.

Dennis Clayton "Clay" Lennon, 4, of Umatilla passed away on Sunday May 24, 2009. He was born in Tavares. Clay is survived by his parents Todd and LuAnn Lennon of Umatilla, his brother Alex Trey Lennon, paternal grandparents, Robert and Glenda Lennon of Eustis, maternal grandfather and wife David and Randi Ross of Mesick, Michigan and maternal grandmother Jane Regentin and husband Michael of Christmas, Florida. Donations may be made to Clay's Memorial Fund at the United Southern Banks in Lake County. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church of Umatilla on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11 AM with Rev. Brooks Braswell officiating.

Mr. Stephen R. Lenz, 80 of Tavares passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born n Irvington, New Jersey and moved here in 1993. He was retired from the maintenance department of Public Service Electric and Gas Company of Clifton, New Jersey and was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife Mary, five children; Barbara (Dennis) Dondero of Morris Plaines, New Jersey, Stephen R. (Susan) Lenz Jr. of Vernon, New Jersey, Pamela (Thomas) Myers of East Setauket, Long Island, New York, Richard B. (Yohana) Lenz of Rockaway Township, New Jersey, and Kathleen (Steven) Cook of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral Mass was held in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis at 9 AM on Monday, January 19, 2009.

Shirley K. Leslie, 81 of Scottish Highlands, Leesburg, Florida, passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2009. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois and moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989. She was a member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church of Eustis and a graduate of Hope College of Holland, Michigan. She was survived by her husband Craig, they had been married
for sixty years, also surviving were her children, Dwight (Beth) Leslie of Lakeland, Florida, Nancy (Rick) Atchison of Ottawa, Ontario, Bill (Betsy) Leslie of Cincinnati, Ohio and Linda Leslie also of Cincinnati, her grandchildren Sarah Leslie, Burton Leslie, Scott Leslie, Craig Leslie, Mary Leslie and Stephen Leslie.
Memorial services were held in the New Hope Presbyterian Church of Eustis at 11 AM Monday August 31, 2009. Rev. Richard Burguet officiated.

Lillian E. Merritt, 68, of Eustis passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 5, 2009. Lillian was born in Gainesville, Florida, she was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Boe Merritt in April of 2008. She is survived by her children Duane Merritt of Eustis, Ronald (Jessica) Merritt of Bell Buckle, Tennessee and Susan Boyd of Mount Dora., siblings, Tom (Laurie) Gilleon of Montana, Cleve (Gloria) Gilleon of Georgia, Myrtle (Will) Webb of Sorrento, and Marti (Harry) Massey of Oviedo, ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services were held at 6 PM Wednesday in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel with Rev. Dr. William Hodge officiating.
James Avant Livingston

James Avant Livingston was born in Umatilla, Florida January 29, 1928 with twin brother the late Jack Livingson to Dewey Harold and Louise Vaughn Livingston. He graduated Eustis High School in 1947. Jim was married
to the late Virginia Britt Livingson in 1951. Jim worked in his parents' packing house for many years until he joined the National Guard. He shot competition pistol and rifle for the Army/National Guard and received the distinguished Shooter's record for the Army in 1985. During 1950-1955 he was Marksmanship instructor for his unit. The rifle team he instructed placed first in the State of Florida for three years. He started Eustis Gun Club in its' original location and ran pistol matches there for many years. He retired from the National Guard in 1988. He was a Lake County deputy and worked under the late Willis McCall and Malcolm McCall. He retired from the Sheriff's Department in 1981. He was an officer for the Tavares Police Department 1974-76. He owned and operated JVL RV and Boat Storage since 1988 until recently.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Edith Yon Brown Livingston, sons, Robert (Lori) and David (Debbie) both of Eustis. Daughter, Sharon Moussette (Ron) of Fruitland Park Granddaughter, Trisha Peckham (Mike) of Eustis and Grandson Shane Livingston of Alt. Spgs. And the loves of his life, three great-grandchildren, Allison, Abigail and Alex Peckham. Step son Bradley Brown (Angie) of Colorado, one step grandson, Justin Brown and Step daughter Brenda Dickey of Cumming, GA, two step grandchildren, Mikayla and Brian and a devoted dog, Gator.
Jim loved to travel, hunt and fish. He enjoyed having large gatherings especially for fish fries. He was blessed with a multitude of close friends and will be greatly missed by many.

Friends visited at the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Monday, March 23, from 10 AM until 12 Noon. Graveside services were held in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis at 2 PM Monday with Rev. Leon Bloder of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis officiating.
Oliver Louer

Oliver Louer, 87 of Eustis passed away on Saturday July 11, 2009. He was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania and moved here from Ohio in the mid 1950s. Mr. Louer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis and was retired from the W. M. Igou Farm Store of Eustis; he was a Veteran having served in the U. S. Army during WWII, a member of Ernest Westbrook Post No 41 of the American Legion, Eustis Lodge 1578 B.P.O.E. and the Eustis Kiwanis Club. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor in 1998. Mr. Louer is survived by his son, Oliver G. "Jerry" Louer of Corona, California, daughter Cheryl Lee Beeman of Pennsylvania, brother Merton Louer of Arizona, half brother Earl and half sister Ellen both of Mount Dora, grandchildren Christine Hobson and Jeff Louer both of Riverside, California, and Robert Beeman of Pennsylvania, great-granddaughters Kyra, Haley and Nikole all of Riverside, California, countless other relatives and a lifetime of friends including dear friends Dorothy Barth and Laura Pendergrass both of Mount Dora. Judith Fisher Loy, 65, of Altoona passed away on June 24, 2008; she was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to this area in 1998 from Ft. Lauderdale. Mrs. Loy was a retired educator and taught Physical Education, coached swimming and dance at Cooper City and Hollywood Hills High Schools. Mrs. Loy is survived by her husband William John Loy, her mother Bernice E. "Collie" Fisher of Sun City Center, Florida and her half brother Don (Betty Jo) Fisher of Washington, Illinois. She was a Past Commodore of the Gulf Stream Sail Club of Ft. Lauderdale and a member of FMCA.

Louis Thomas Machamer, 57 of Jacksonville passed away in Jacksonville on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was a Catholic and a construction worker. He is survived by his father and step-mother Ernest J. and Wanda Machamer of Eustis, and his siblings, Patricia Gittins of Yuma, Arizona, James E. Machamer of Eustis, Karl E. Machamer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Joseph M. Machamer of Mount Dora, Frances M. Gertz of Grand Island, Ernest J. Machamer Jr. of Umatilla and Margaret J. Brennan of Eustis. After family services Mr. Machamer was taken to Portsmouth Catholic Cemetery, Portsmouth, Virginia for interment.
Virginia S. Mahn

Virginia S. Mahn (Ginny) of Mount Dora (Glen Ellyn, IL) passed away on July 16th at the age of 99. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday August 15.
Ginny moved to Mount Dora with her late husband Dr. John Mahn after living in Glen Ellyn for 27 years, where she worked as an agent for Evans Real Estate. She was also very active in affairs at St. Mark s Episcopal Church (Glen Ellyn), where she served as Head of the Alter Guild, was a member of the Vestry Women and sang in the choir. Upon leaving the parish, St. Mark s established a fund for church music in the honor of Ginny and her husband. She devoted a great deal of time to lecturing on the subject of The Holy Spirit in our daily lives and was an Oblate of the Order of St. Benedict (Orthodoxy). She and her late husband were founding members of St. Andrew s Antiochian Orthodox Church in Eustis, FL. where she remained active for many years.
At the age of 16, Ginny was selected as Miss Milwaukee (Wis.) and was runner-up in the 1925 Miss America Pageant. Two years later she was named Miss South Bend (IN), which is where she met and later married
her husband.
Ginny is survived in life by her two children J. Dennison (Helen) and Marcia (James), three grandchildren; Peter (Diana), Gregory (Pam) and Mark (Angela), three great-grandchildren; Joshua, Andrew and Ashley, one great-great-grandchild; Matthew, her brother Stuart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her Daughter Marcia Louise Weaver (James) remembers her mother as; having a sociable nature and was always ready to throw a party . She added; Mother was known by many as the Prayer Warrior .
Her son J. Dennison (Helen) stated; Mom had the ability to really listen to you in a conversation, she really cared about what you had to say .

Friends may call at St. Andrew the Apostle Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2815 South Bay Street, Eustis from Four until Six PM Tuesday July 21. The funeral was celebrated in the church on Wednesday July 22 at Eleven O'clock AM with Fr. Michael Keiser officiating.
Sara Stinson Martin

Sara Stinson Martin, 94 of Eustis passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2010. She was born in Fruitland Park and relocated to Eustis after her marriage to Memory Martin. She was a member and former musician for the First Baptist Church of Eustis and a member of the Camellia Garden Club of Eustis. Mrs. Martin was pre deceased by her husband and two sons, Michael and Pat; she is survived by her daughter in law Sara Mooney Martin of Macon, Georgia, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her brother Phillip Stinson of Deland. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Friday January 22, 2010 at 2PM with Dr. Skip Haymans officiating. Mrs. Martin was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. Agnes Tomlin May

Agnes Tomlin May 95, of Umatilla passed away on Monday, June 08, 2009. She was born April 29, 1914 in Pigeon Creek, Alabama. She grew up in Alabama.
After meeting and marrying O.C. May, they moved to moved to Polk County, FL, then to Tavares, FL, and then to Umatilla FL until her death. She started work in a canning plant in Polk County and worked her way up to owning a grove and citrus company located in Dona Vista. The company still owns groves and land in the Lake County area. She loved her child, all her grandchildren and great-grand children. She was predeceased by her husband O.C. May and her daughter Bette May Whitaker. She is survived by her siblings Bonnie, Bill, and Ben; her son -in - law John Whitaker; her grandchildren, Susan (Wayne), Clif, and Thomas (Kristin); great-grand children Tony, Clifton, Alan, Benjamin, Courtney, and John Robert.
She was an integral part of the First Baptist Church of Umatilla for over 50 years. She truly loved the Lord and gave unselfishly. She was a Sunday School teacher at Harry Anna crippled children's hospital that was located in Umatilla, for many years. She started a crisis center out of her garage 17 years ago, to help needy families. It then was moved to the Baptist Church in Umatilla, and now that center has now grown to a separate building that is located on the church property. It has served over 16,000 people just in the past year. "For I was hungry and you gave me food to eat...Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me." Matthew 25:34-40
Her greatest pride was her family and she truly adored her grand children and great-grandchildren. She took much pleasure whenever they would come to see her. Thanks for the many angels in her life; Myra Kicklighter, Jewel Daniels, Pinkey Blake, Cassandra Gillislee, Jerry Doyle, Sam and Annie Segar and many others. Your friends and family miss you dearly.
Memorial services was held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 10 am in the First Baptist Church in Umatilla.

James Edward McCracken

Dr. J. E. "Ed" McCracken, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 10:56 p.m. after a brief period of treatment at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL, during which his family provided an around the clock loving presence. The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to all of the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and Staff of the hospital for the excellent, compassionate care provided to Dr. McCracken and his family.
Ed was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 14, 1922, to Charles Chester McCracken and Frances Cleo (Fulton) McCracken. He achieved the rank of Captain while serving in the United States Air Force Weather Service from Aug. 1942 - July 1946. He earned a BS degree from Muskingum College and an MA & a PhD from Ohio State University. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Educational Fraternity.
Dr. McCracken was an active resident of Valparaiso, FL, and surrounding communities from the time he left his position at Pensacola Junior College to become the Founding President of Okaloosa-Walton Junior College in February, 1964. Twenty-four years later, Ed was honored as President Emeritus of Okaloosa-Walton Junior College when he retired on January 31, 1988. He was voted Man of The Year by the Rotary Club in 1968.
Ed's primary focus in life was always his family and home. He played the piano, enjoyed and appreciated many genres of music, woodworking, fishing and cycling. Dr. McCracken had a constant, selfless commitment to encourage and assist each person he met in achieving their dreams. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Niceville, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth Wylie McCracken of Valparaiso, FL; son, Tom McCracken and his wife Elaine of Oakwood, GA and their children Katherine, Michael and Rebecca; son, Bill McCracken of Tallahassee, FL; and daughter, Lynne McCracken Vige and her husband Handlee of Valrico, FL and their children Beth and Tim.

Meryl McGhee

Meryl McGhee, 61, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and moved here in 2002. She was a Baptist. Mrs. McGhee is survived by her husband Charles, two daughters, Heather (David) Bondhus of Apopka and Tracey Wealing of Orlando and two grandchildren, Madeline and Lincoln Bondhus. Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Friday, March 13 at 1:30 PM with entombment following in Lakeside Memory Gardens of Eustis.

Edward D. McNabb, 81 of Sorrento passed away in Tavares on Tuesday March 10, 2009. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved here from Miami in 1970. Mr. McNabb was retired from the United States Air Force and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was affiliated with the Antioch Faith Fellowship of Eustis and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife Inez, his children Charlotte Bohlen of Sorrento, Patrick of Daytona Beach, Florida and Donald of Apopka, Florida, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services with military honors were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday, March 14, at 11 AM. Mr. McNabb was laid to rest in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

Maedonna V. McNeal, 95 of Longwood passed away on Tuesday December 8, 2009. She was born in Bluffton, Ohio and moved to Central Florida in 1980. She lived in Eustis prior to moving to Longwood. She was a Christian. Mrs. McNeal is survived by her grandchildren, Heather (Michael) Holden of Longwood and Christopher P. Carpenter, U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, her great-grandchildren, Brittanni Holden, Zachary Holden, and Cassidy Holden all of Longwood, her brother Harley Steiner of Bluffton, Ohio and a niece Anne Heinze of Indiana. Mrs. McNeal was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1993 and her daughter Patricia Ann Carpenter. Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Pastor Todd Lamphere officiated. Private interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.
