John Wilson Garner, 90, Venice, died June 18, 2001.
He was born May 13, 1911, in Washington and came to Venice in 1976 from Silver Spring, Md. He retired in 1973 after 31 years as an electrical engineer for the highway and traffic division in Washington. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 717.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel H.; two nieces, Anne Brophy of Dunkirk, Md., and Mary L. Vann of St. Leonard, Md.; and a nephew, Jerry L. of Evanston, Ill.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Leopoldo E. Hernandez
Leopoldo E. Hernandez, 92, Sarasota, died June 17, 2001.
He was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Mantanzas, Cuba, and came to Sarasota in 1975 from Chicago. He was a farmer and a member of St. Martha's Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cipriana R.; a daughter, Clementina Narea of Sarasota; a son, Osmundo of Sarasota; two sisters of Cuba; a brother of Cuba; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Packer Funeral Home. A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Martha's Church, with burial to follow at Palms Memorial Park.
Joyce Holt
Joyce Holt, 61, Sarasota, died June 13, 2001, in Omaha, Neb.
She was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Detroit and came to Sarasota in 1989 from there. She retired as a department store retail sales clerk. She was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E.; two sons, Charles Barstow of Detroit and Bill Barstow of Plattsmouth, Neb.; two daughters, Cindy McPhail of South Lyon, Mich., and Lori Katzman of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; three brothers, Don Phillips, Bill Phillips and James Phillips; and five sisters, Louise Breen, Betty Miller, Mary Rowland, Emma Woodliff and Nancy Pfeiffer; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be in Plattsmouth, where Roby Funeral Home is in charge. Inurnment will be later in Sarasota.

William O. Huestis
William O. Huestis, 48, Sarasota, died June 15, 2001.
He was born Dec. 30, 1952, in Ticon- deroga, N.Y., and came to Sarasota in 1979 from there. He was a farrier and a long-distance truck driver. He was a Coast Guard and a Navy Seal veteran.
Survivors include three daughters, Melanie Schlogl and Ashley, both of Ticonderoga, and Amber LaRose of Whitehall, N.Y.; two sisters, Linda Slaterpryce of Sarasota and Peggy of Venice; and four grandsons.

Leonard Fredrick Hynie
Leonard Fredrick Hynie, 83, Englewood, died June 17, 2001.
He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Le Roy, Minn., and came to Englewood in 1987 from Dayton, Ohio. He retired as a civil service project officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. After retiring, he taught square dancing and was a disc jockey in the Dayton area for various events. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion, Elks Club, Square Dance Caller Association and Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pawnee (Joska); two daughters, Janet of Jonesboro, Ga., and Corrine of Onalaska, Texas; a son, Tom of Orlando; two sisters, Kay of Paris, Ark., and Marie of Myrtle Point, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery. National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte chapter, is in charge.

Julianna Kittl, 92, Sarasota, died June 18, 2001.
She was born Aug. 3, 1908, in Romania and came to Sarasota in 1979 from Chicago. She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bernard.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Palms Funeral Home. A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Apostolic Christian Church. Burial will be in Palms Memorial Park.

Erma M. Kittle
Erma M. Kittle, 84, Sarasota, died June 16, 2001.
She was born July 9, 1916, in Delta, Iowa, and came to Sarasota in 1973 from Jamestown, N.Y. She retired in 1943 as an auditor for the General Accounting Office in Washington.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde E.; a daughter, Janet Snow of Bradenton; two sons, Thomas of Blanchester, Ohio, and Gerald of Westfield, N.Y.; three sisters, Leola Andrews of Boone, Iowa, Bonnie Thatcher of San Diego and Dorothy Smith of What Cheer, Iowa; a brother, Garold Moore of What Cheer; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in Westfield. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is in charge.

Scott H. MacIntire
Scott H. MacIntire, 77, Venice, died June 16, 2001.
He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in New Rochelle, N.Y., and came to Venice 11 years ago from Spring Lake, Mich. He was a retired store manager for JC Penney in Muskegon, Mich., and a Navy carrier pilot during World War II. He was a member of Rotary Club, Spring Lake Country Club and Venice Golf and Country Club. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty; a daughter, Lynn J. Boyne of Nunica, Mich.; a brother, Malcolm of Osprey; and four grandchildren.
National Cremation Society, Venice chapter, is in charge.
