Stephen A. Archbold
Stephen A. "Opie" Archbold, 31, of Santa Rosa Beach, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in Walton County as the result of an automobile accident.
Born in Bethesda, Md., Archbold moved to Santa Rosa Beach in 1987 from Herndon, Va. He was a waiter at 83rd Central Square in Seaside and at Café Sublime.
Archbold is survived by his mother, Audrey Archbold of Coral Gables, and father, Emerson E. Archbold of Barnesville, Ohio; one brother, Michael Edward Archbold of Fort Walton Beach; three sisters, Susan Elizabeth Edwards of Coral Gables, Kathy Jean Archbold, and Laurie O'Brien and husband, Jeff, all of Sterling, Va.; nieces and nephews Elizabeth Archbold, Joseph O'Brien, Sarah Edwards and Megan O'Brien.
Services were scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4, at Cross Point Baptist Church in Santa Rosa Beach.
Emma Lee O'Neal
Emma Lee O'Neal, 76, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.
Residents of Troy, Ala., Mrs. O'Neal and her husband, Gerorge D., also had a home in Destin.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Bonnye O'Neal Ely and her husband, Thomas, of Montgomery, Ala.; three sons and their wives, Dave and Nancy O'Neal of Alexander City, Ala., Stanton and Henrietta O'Neal of Deland, and William Murry and Chris O'Neal of Safety Harbor; a brother, Dr. Stanton Eversole and his wife, of Palo Alto, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Michael O'Neal, Nanette Bickel, Stacy O'Neal, Ashley O'Neal, Brittany O'Neal, Jamie Griffin, Carrie Griffin, Kristin Griffin and Tyler Ely.
Services were conducted at First Baptist Church of Troy Sunday, Jan. 30, with interment in Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Troy.
William Lowell Wall Sr.
William Lowell Wall Sr., 83, Camdenton, Mo., and winter resident of Destin, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Mo.
Mr. Wall was born March 18, 1916, in Kansas City, Kan., the only child of the late William E. Wall and Emma Mae Green Wall. He married Frances Liscomb Aug. 22, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Wall served in the United States Navy during World War II in the anti-submarine patrol. He was an avid fisherman and a collector of Lionel Trains. Since his retirement, he had spent his summers in the Lake of the Ozarks area of Missouri and would travel to his home in Destin for the winter months.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, William L. Wall Jr., Camdenton, Mo., and Gordon Courtney Wall, Henryetta, Okla.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Allee-Reed Chapel, Camdenton, Mo. Pastor John Davis officiated. Interment will be in Wall Cemetery.
Zackery Brunson
Zackery "Zack" Brunson, a longtime Destin resident and operator of a bait shop for many years, died at his home on Sunday, Jan. 23.
Brunson was 79 and had been ill for some time, said his son, Zackery Brunson Jr.
Brunson was born in Portland, Fla., and had lived in Destin for 75 years, his son said. Since the mid-1970s, he had operated Zack's Bait, on Calhoun Avenue.
Years ago, Brunson was one of the founders of the Destin fire department and served as president of its board of directors for many years, his son said.
The elder Brunson also held leadership positions with the Destin Fishing Rodeo and the Destin Community Center, his son said.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; eight children, Zack Jr., James, Rikki, Maryann, Ronnie, Roger, Clay and Debbie; a brother, Reddin Brunson; a sister, Kathleen Michael; and numerous grandchildren.
Services are being arranged by Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach.

Hannah Mary-Murphy Lichorwic, 5-month-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Lichorwic, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Viewing was from11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 25 at McLaughlin Funeral Home with services following at Gulf Cemetery in Santa Rosa Beach.
Donald James Haley
Donald James "D.J." Haley, 22, of English, Ind., formerly of Destin, Freeport and Santa Rosa Beach, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Bloomington, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dobbins Haley, and sons William and Travis, all of English; father, Kenneth Haley Sr., Santa Rosa Beach; mother, Janet Haley, Freeport; brothers Eric Haley and Kenneth Haley Jr., Santa Rosa Beach; sisters Holly Haley of Freeport and Amber Haley of Santa Rosa Beach; grandparents Clifton Dennis of Santa Rosa Beach and Roba Dennis of Freeport; nephews Matthew Haley and Austin Batson and niece Kaitlynn Batson; plus several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were Jan. 20 in English.
A local memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at Freeport Church of God, with Brother Claude Sims officiating.
Tommie Fae Anderson Beck
Tommie Fae Anderson Beck, a retired property manager who lived at Gulf Terrace in Destin, died at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on Jan. 20, 2000.
Mrs. Beck was born June 25, 1924, in Columbus, Ga.; she spent most of her childhood in Gadsden, Ala.; her adult life in Atlanta, Ga.; and her retirement years in Destin near her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Curtis and Janie Allen Anderson. She is survived by her only son, Michael Beck of Destin; two daughters-in-law, Jody Godwin Beck and Valerie Beck Lowerison, both of Destin; two grandchildren, Laine Beck Preston and husband Todd, and Monte Beck, all of Destin; three step-children, Chip Godwin and wife Tracy, Casey Godwin and wife Jill, and Chris Godwin, all of Destin; three great-grandchildren, Porter Beck Allmon, Peyton Beck Preston and Cooper Beck Preston, all of Destin; two step-great-grandchildren, Justin Godwin and Caymon Godwin, both of Destin; and former husband, Reuben E. Beck of Atlanta, Ga.
Mrs. Beck had worked as a cashier at the SunDestin Gift Shop and as a hostess at Chick-Fil-A.
A gathering of friends to celebrate her life was held Sunday, Jan. 23, at Gulf Terrace Condominiums in Destin. The National Cremation Society of Fort Walton Beach handled the arrangements.
Pat McCain
Pat McCain, 63, a farmer, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, of heart and respiratory failure at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Mr. McCain was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on April 26, 1936, and grew up in College Park, Ga. He graduated in aeronautical engineering at Auburn University. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Bermuda from 1958-1963; he served as a navigator on a P5M Seaplane.
He and his wife, Frances Graham McCain, returned to Bolton to work with the farming program for the Gaddis Farms. Mr. McCain was vice president and director of the Gaddis Farms; vice president and director of Gaddis and McLaurin Inc.; and director of Merchants and Planters Bank in Raymond, Miss.
Mr. McCain was an avid golfer, investor, story teller and crossword puzzle enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Graham McCain; one son, David Hammond McCain; two daughters, Laurie McCain George of Raymond, Miss., and Patty McCain Long of Indiana; and three grandchildren, Lindsey George of Raymond, and Lauren and Olivia Long of Indiana.
Services will be Jan. 22 in Bolton, Miss. The Rev. Bill Hyde will officiate. Burial will be at the Bolton Cemetery.

Keith Henry Nix
Keith Henry Nix of Destin died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
He was born July 4, 1927, in Anderson, S.C. He served in U.S. Navy in World War II and later graduated from Clemson University in the field of agriculture and nutritional chemistry. His entire career was devoted to the meat packing industry, and he worked for Swift & Co. for 40 years before retiring and moving to Destin.
He was the current president of the Destin Lions Club, a member of A.R.M.O.D. and past president of the Chancel Choir at Destin United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry S. Nix, of Destin.
Nix is survived by his wife, Doris Martin Nix of Destin; two daughters, Marian Martin Nix of Raleigh, N.C., and Dorothy Harriet Nix of Destin; and one grandson, Keith Henry Nix II of Destin.
Funeral arrangements were performed by McLaughlin Mortuary of Fort Walton Beach. Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, Jan. 21, at Destin United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions be made to the building fund of Destin United Methodist Church, 300 Beach Drive, Destin, Fla. 32541.
Inez L. Martin
Inez L. Martin, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in a Destin nursing home.
Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 5, 1905, in Brewton, Ala. She received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Alabama and taught school for many years. One of her favorite students was former Florida governor and current U.S. Sen. Bob Graham.
Martin had been retired and a resident of Destin for many years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, D.C. Lammon of California, and two sisters, Ruth Bruner Winecoff and Jewett Lammon Moore, both long-time business owners and residents of Destin.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, W. Henry Martin; nieces and nephews, Granger Bruner of DeFuniak Springs, Quin Sherrer of Colorado Springs, James E. Moore of Crestview, Art Moore of Utah, and Ann Hawryluk of Zionsville, Ind.; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
Burial took place in Destin Memorial Cemetery. Family relative and close friend the Rev. Charles Avery officiated. Memorial contributions can be made to Destin United Methodist Church's building fund.

Winifred Dunn Moore
Winifred Dunn Moore died in her home in Destin on Friday, Jan. 14, 2000.
Mrs. Moore was born in Holland, Ark., on Aug. 22, 1917, to Henry and Dora Dunn. She had lived in the Destin area since 1984.
She is survived by her son, Vic Morgan of Destin; sister, Estelle Ownbey of Waldron, Ark.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 21, in Conway, Ark.
McLaughlin Mortuary is handling local arrangements.
John W. Woods Sr.
John W. Woods Sr., 72, of Destin, died Thursday, Jan. 13, in a local hospital.
Mr. Woods was a native of Clearwater and the son of Japtha and Velma Smith Woods. He was a retired director of freshwater fisheries for Florida. He lived in Tallahassee until his retirement to Destin in 1977. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the U.S.S. Kearsarge.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Ann Sheridan Woods; son John W. Woods (Janet) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter Rebecca Woods Walker (Clay) of North Palm Beach; daughter Candace Woods Ellis (Jeff) of Carrollton, Ga.; and daughter Patricia Woods Feliciano (Luis) of Coral Springs; and eight granddaughters.
A memorial service was conducted Jan. 16 at Destin United Methodist Church with Dr. John Friedman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Destin United Methodist Church Building Fund.
