MOORMAN, Laverne R., 88, and long-term resident of Tampa, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2002. Mrs. Moorman was born
in Friendship, Texas, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jefferson Rush. Her brothers, Winston, Harrell, William Rush and her sister, Zinita Lay preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Edwin, Jr., and his wife, Pam, Michael and his wife, Elaine and Virginia and her husband, Jim; sister, Celia White; grandchildren, Bridget, Dejah, Elizabeth, Karen, Melissa; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Laverne attended nursing training at the Angelina County School of Nursing in 1930, graduating as a registered nurse in 1933. When she graduated, she was underage to receive a nursing certificate and had to be granted a waiver to serve as a nurse. S he worked in various capacities as a nurse for 53 years including many years at Memorial Hospital in Tampa from which she retired in 1986. She was honored in 1983 by the staff of Memorial Hospital in Tampa with a special celebration on Davis Islands for her 50th year in nursing. She was married to the late Edwin M. Moorman. She traveled extensively during her life, both with her husband who was in the U.S. Air Force and later. During her travels, she lived overseas in Morocco, England and Spain and visited many of the countries in Europe, the Middle East and East Asia. She was a painter of some note whose watercolors are cherished pictures of sea scenes in Florida. She had many friends and colleagues throughout the world, especially in the nursing profession. Of special note was her friend Betty Wick who provided support and care in the last years of her life. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blount Curry and Roel Funeral Home, MacDill Avenue Chapel, 605 S. MacDill Avenue. MUNTON, Catherine `Peg` Bell, 102, passed away March 20, 2002. A native of Troy, N.Y., she was born
July 30, 1899. `Grandma Munton` was a beloved family matriarch who lived life to the fullest even after `retiring` to Tampa at age 101. She was blessed with a life of more joy than sorrow, more good health than sickness. As a child she traveled with her parents by horse and carriage, and as a gre at-grandmother she traveled by jet airplane. An accomplished seamstress and gardener, she particularly enjoyed family outings and corresponding with friends and relatives in her later years. She is survived by her son, Warren John Munton and his wife, Pamela, of Ocala; grand- daughters Peggy Tyre, Tracey Shadday and Penny Carnathan, all of Tampa; grandsons Branson Munton of Bartow, Jay Munton of M aryland, and David Munton of Tennessee; nephews Roy Hughes, Frank Fuller and Nelson Fuller; niece Sandra Baboian; nieces and other relatives whose loving aid allowed her to remain independent in Troy, including Norma Claydon, Jean and Bill Temple, Carol Miller, Diane Donlon and Carolyn Vallone; and 11 great-grandchildren. PFEIFFER, Charles Raphael, of Tampa, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. Born January 3, 1948 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late, Clarence and Anna Pfeiffer. He went to college at University of Wisconsin and high school at St. Joseph High School in Kenosha. DEL VALLE, Miss Lenore, 94, a resident of Plantation Estates, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002. Miss Del Valle, the fourth of 10 children, was born
on February 1, 1908 to Rosalia and Ramon Del Valle in Tampa, Fla., and is survived by her brothers and sisters, Hortense Del Valle Morris, Charles Del Valle, Victoria Del Valle Kreher, and Helen Del Valle Hill, all residing in Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. Miss Del Valle started her professional career in the ship building industry, joining J.A. Jones Construction Company during World War II. She remained with Jones for 31 years, retiring as the company's Senior Cost Analyst. Her work required extensive domestic and international travel leading to extended residences in Newfoundland, Canada and Iran. Miss Del Valle's success in the then male dominated construction industry was a role model for today's women in business. The Museum of the New South has videoed her recollections and experiences of the duties women assumed during the World War II years. With the men away, women became the welders, the fitters, and the supervisors to build the nation's war machine. In retirement Miss Del Valle continued to enjoy world travel. She wa s a devoted volunteer with the Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary and was an active member of Sardis Presbyterian Church. She will be interred in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Fla., with graveside services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002. GROGAN, Louis Edward, 96, of Ruskin, formerly of Philmont and Pawling, N.Y., passed away May 11, 2002. Born in Philmont, N.Y., on Sept. 4, 1905, he was the son of Michael and Mary Kearns Grogan. He married Loretta DePasquale of Philmont, who predeceased him on April 28, 1995. Mr. Grogan, with 44 years of service, was employed by the New York Central Railroad as a supervisor of track, along thei r main line between New York City and Buffalo. He was a member of the Ruskin Moose Lodge and was a volunteer at South Bay Hospital for over 20 years. Survivors include three sons, Louis V. of Pawling, N.Y., Joseph William of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and George Edward of Warren, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Helen Grogan of Calif. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John J.; three brothers, Edward, Joseph, and John; a sister, Nell; and a nephew, Edward V. Grogan. MULEY, Martino, 86, a truly loving and devoted husband and father passed away May 9, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Mr. Muley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Angela Muley; one daughter, Linda Switzer, her husband Dr. Mark Switzer; one brother, Peter Mule and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Mr. Muley worked as a meatcutter for Joe and Son Grocery in Ybor City for 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and a member of the Sons of Italy. Mr. Muley spent his years after retirement helping his daughter and son-in-law in their business, The Florida Arts School. His winning smile and sincere love for all the students at the school will be remembered with fondess and affection. KRAEMER, Robert Thomas, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2002 in his 80th year, surrounded by those who loved him. He retired from the University of South Florida in 1991 after working for twenty years as the head of Physical Plant Engineering. Prior to USF, he was a senior executive for nine years at the Tampa Jai Alai with his father Frank and brother Thomas. McINTOSH, Deacon Richard H. (Dick), 77, of Tampa died on May 11, 2002. Survivors include his beloved wife, Martha; five children, Marie Flowers and husband Andy of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Theresa Birkmeyer of Fort Pierce, Fla., Mariam Greene and husband Brent of Vero Beach, Fla., Richard J. McIntosh and wife JoAnn of Murphy, N.C., and Peter McIntosh of Tampa. He leaves thirteen grandchildren, An drew, Mark, Alicia, and Brett Flowers, Richard and David McIntosh, James and Samuel Greene, Jonathan and Nicholas Cintron, Max Birkmeyer, Shea and Shauna McIntosh; and four great-grandchildren, Timothy J. Jacques, Lillian Greene, Ansley Flowers, and Jasmine McIntosh. Born in Scottsdale, Pa., he grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Tampa in 1969. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Tampa GTE as a transmission tech. On May 2, 1987, he was ordained a Deacon for the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg. Serving at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church he ministered with love to the homebound and nursing home patients, officiated at baptisms, gave instructions in the Catholic Faith, and assisted at the Sunday Liturgies. Duri ng his 12 years attending to the inmates of Hillsborough jails, he stressed how much God loved each one of them. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #667; the Gandy Civic Assn., and for many years was very involved in the Cursillo Movement.
