Catherine M. Hall
Catherine M. Hall, 90, of New Holland Pa., and formerly of Picture Rocks, Pa., and North Port, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Ephrata Community Hospital, Pennsylvania.
Catherine was born
in Picture Rocks, and was the daughter of Harvey B. and Elizabeth McClain Elder. Mrs. Hall was a bank teller at the Commonwealth Bank, in Hughesville, Pa. for 20 years before retiring in 1975. She played the organ and was the choir director for 50 years at the Picture Rocks United Methodist church. She was a member of the Community Bible Church, Leola, Pa., a past member of the Eastern Star, Muncy, Pa, and the Lions Auxiliary, Picture Rocks. Mrs. Hall was also the choir director for 20 years at the Presbyterian Church of North Port, and an accompanist for five years with the North Port Chorale. She was a member of the Lions Auxiliary, in North Port.
In addition, she was very active in many other church and community activities and functions.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her daughter Nancy J. (Casmir) Gieniec of Lancaster, Pa.; son, David L. (Jane Behman) Hall of Mechanicsburg, Pa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy V. Hall in 1995; and her parents; three brothers, Malcolm, Robert, and Byron Elder; three sisters, Margaret Noble, Charlotte Blaskovitz, and Alice Elder; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with the Rev. John Duty officiating. An additional visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, Pa.
Interment will be at Picture Rocks Cemetery, Pennsylvania.

Zelma R. Cleveland
Zelma Rosalie Cleveland, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Punta Gorda.
Zelma was born
April 2, 1923 in Cleveland, Fla., and was raised in the Punta Gorda area. She was a cheerleader and graduate of Charlotte High School. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, First Methodist Church of Punta Gorda, and sang in the choir. Zelma was a licensed practical nurse, and formerly worked at Medical Center Hospital. She was also an Avon salesperson for several years.
Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla Rosalie Williams; brother, Robert Conrad Cleveland; sister, Beatrice Christine Cotton; grandson, Jack Edward Williams Jr.; granddaughter, Melanie Lynn Williams; great-grandson, Evan Martin Williams, and her great-granddaughter, Dawn Marie Williams.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Punta Gorda chapel of Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Punta Gorda. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda.

Clifford L. Brown
Clifford L. Brown, 55, of Englewood Fla., died Dec. 30, 2003.
He was born
June 28, 1948, in Middlebury, Vt., to Clifford and Mildred (Desjadon) Brown. Clifford moved to the Englewood area in 1985 from Middlebury. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his four daughters, April Buchler of Englewood, Tammy Collier of Punta Gorda, Joann and Samantha Brown, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; brother, Stephen of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Nardolilli of Port St. Lucie, and Linda Pidgeon of Keene, N.H.; five grandsons, Walter, William, Steven, Jamie and Jerod.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at the chapel of Peace at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood. The Rev. Sam Seizert, will be officiating.
Inurnment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Park.

Winfred D. Ryll
Winfred D. Ryll, 77 of Englewood, Fla., died Dec. 31, 2003.
She was born
on May 6, 1926 in Birmingham, England, and came to this area in 1972 from Clinton, Mass. She was a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church.
Winfred is survived by her son, Paul of Woodstock, Conn.; four daughters, Pauline Gabriau of Englewood, Christine Nageldinger of York, S.C., Carol Brown of Fredericksburg, Va., and Arlene Martin of Brookfield, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, in the Doan chapel, at Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood.

Olive E. Mann
Olive "Eileen" E. Mann, 81, of Winter Haven, Fla., and formerly of Arcadia, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003.
She was born
Dec. 7, 1922, in Irvona Pa., and moved to Arcadia five years ago. Eileen was a retired manager of Fellowship Dining of Arcadia, and was a member of VFW Post 2824, Arcadia. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly J. (Byron) Hamilton of Winter Haven, and Joyce L. (Joe) Macke of Palmetto, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsboro Ave., Arcadia, followed by graveside services and Burial at 4 p.m., at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.

Ruth M. Wilds, 87, of Paint Lick, Ky., and formerly of Michigan and Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in Berea, Ky.

Helen L. Eberle
Helen L. Eberle, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Freeport, Ill., and Rockford, Ill., passed away Dec. 20, 2003, in Punta Gorda.
She was born
Oct. 4, 1923, in Pleasant Valley Township, Ill., the daughter of William and Adeline (Dittmar) Donegan. Helen married Robert L. Eberle on April 9, 1947, in Freeport. Helen was a housewife, mother and grandmother, and worked at Micro Switch, Burgess Battery and retired from Rockford Acromatics. She was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Glen) Larson of Clinton, Wis., and Pat (Denny) Carey of Rockford; two sons, Tom (Kathy) Eberle of Freeport and Mark (TiJuania) Eberle of Machesney Park, Ill.; six grandchildren Sarah, Jeff, Amanda, Tyler, Mathew and Maxine; and a sister, Mary (Robert) Underwood of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in July 2000; her parents and other close relatives.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

James R. Gentle
James Randall "Jim" Gentle, 39, of North Port, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at his residence in North Port.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Florida. He was born
March 21, 1964, in Bradenton, Fla., and came to this area 24 years ago from Cape Coral, Fla.
He was owner and operator of Gentle Touch Concrete Design Inc. in North Port, and attended Freedom Bible Church in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Mr. Gentle is survived by his wife, Cheryl, two sons; Kyle and Jacob Gentle of North Port; one brother, Ty Gentle of Tallahassee, Fla., one sister, Leah Hall of North Port; his mother, Micki (Cal) Young of Punta Gorda Fla.; father, Jim (Elaine) Gentle of Tallahassee, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 3044 Caring Way, Port Charlotte. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Hollis E. Byous
Hollis E. Byous, 65, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his daughter's home in Lee's Summit, Mo.
Hollis was born
Feb. 27, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an outstanding basketball player for Grandview High School in Missouri, and received his associate's degree in fire science from Penn Valley College. He worked for the Grandview Fire Department, retiring as captain in 1993. He moved to Florida in 1994 and was a member of the Masons and Scottish Rite Ararat Shrine Temple, and attended Unity Chapel. He enjoyed fishing, boating and golf. He also loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Hollis is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally of Port Charlotte; daughter, Tracy (Glenn) Brown of Lee's Summit; son, Todd (Cyndee) Byous of Peculiar, Mo.; brothers, Harold (Marlene) Byous of Lamar, Mo., and Robert (Judy) Byous of Belton, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Sarah, Wendy, Aaron, Jeffrey, Chad and Danny.
Visitation and services were Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in the chapel at McGilley and George Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

John Decates
John Decates, 77, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003.
He was born
July 30, 1926, in Indonesia. He was the son of William and Anna (Grotthausen) Decates. John was the former owner of Eureka Saw Co. in Mount Carmel, Pa. He moved from Cape Coral, Fla., to Port Charlotte in 1999. He was of the Catholic faith.
John will be deeply missed by his wife of four years, Betty; son, Andre (Beth) Decates of Orange Village, Ohio; daughter, Anne Marie Decates of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; brother, France (Shaun) Decates of Neijmegen, Holland; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Olga Decates.

Frank B. Gardner, 88, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Harbour Health Center in Port Charlotte.
He was born
Nov. 24, 1915, in Raymond, N.H. He attended Miami Senior High School in Miami, Fla. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a partner in a international accounting firm, from which he retired in 1972. He moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., in 1982. He was a member of the Peace River Power Squadron and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a past member of the Richmond County (N.Y.) Yacht Club, and the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda. He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Punta Gorda.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nancy L.; two sons, Kerry of Punta Gorda and Michael of Crofton, Md.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, in 1994.
There will be no services. Interment will be at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton, Mass.

Anna Katherine Goodall, 78, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003.
Anna was born
May 24, 1925, in James City, Pa. She attended Villa Maria College in Erie, Pa. She was a former member of the Order of Saint Clare. She was the owner of Marygold Realty in Punta Gorda until her retirement. She was a member of Zonta International.
Anna is survived by Samuel Moran of James City, Pa., Mary Margaret Sproull of El Paso, Texas, Helen Ahlers of Buffalo, N.Y., Madeline Hazlett of Potomac, Md., Mabel Scruton of Lantana, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Callistus Church in Kane, Pa., at a later date. Interment will be private.

Mary Allen Roush, 57, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at her home.
She was born
Aug. 12, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky., and came to this area 52 years ago from Morganfield. She was a past employee of Georgia's Flower Shop in Port Charlotte and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte Harbor, Fla. Mary treated everyone she met as a friend, and her smile and laughter affected countless people. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband, Richard Allen "Dick" Roush of Port Charlotte; son, Craig E. (Stephanie) Roush of Morganfield; her daughter, Dawn M. Roush of Port Charlotte; her parents, Harlan and Mary Louise Sheffer of Punta Gorda; and her brother, James (Linda) Sheffer of Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte Harbor, with the Rev. Richard Dickey officiating. Burial will follow at Charlotte Harbor Cemetery in Charlotte Harbor. Visitation was Monday, Dec. 22, at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte.

Kathryn W. Loney
Kathryn W. Loney, 74, of Englewood, Fla., and formerly of Angola, Ind., died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in Venice, Fla.
She was born
Oct. 12, 1929, in Angola, the daughter of Andrew and Belva (Loomis) Noragon. She married Leon H. Loney on Oct. 17, 1948, in Angola. She was formerly employed at GTE and a homemaker. She was a member of Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257 Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included her family and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Leon H. Loney; two brothers, Wayne Loomis of Texas, and Dale Noragon of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Foster of Sebring and Elaine Richards of Angola; three nieces, Jacqueline Foster Godfrey of Heathrow, Fla., Karma Noragon Austin of Fremont, Ind., and Jo Hornbrook Lyde of Pensacola, Fla.; and three nephews, John Hornbrook Jr. of Japan, Terry Wayne Loomis of Texas, and Greg Noragon of Indianapolis, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Belva (Loomis) Noragon.
Visitation was on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont. Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jon Bruney officiating. Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Fremont.
