Arthur H. Graham, 77, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Bon Secours-Venice Hospital.
He was born
July 28, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Arthur served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and retired as a harbor pilot. He moved to the Punta Gorda area in 1980 from New York. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 110, both in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Millicent E. Graham; a son, Douglas A. Graham of Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y.; and daughter, Laura E. Johnson of Middletown, N.Y.; one brother, Richard Martin of Daleville, Va.; two grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 24515 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte. A private committal will be held in New York at a later date.

Janet Elsie Michels, 74, of Zolfo Springs, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
She was born
Aug. 29, 1929, in New York, N.Y.
Janet moved to Florida in 1970 from Levittown, N.Y. She was a Methodist.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann Claar of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two sons, James A. Michels and Thomas J. Michels, both of Zolfo Springs; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Restlawn Chapel, with the Rev. J. Ralph Burton Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Mr. Dayman was born
Dec. 27, 1954, in Sebring, Fla. He was the son of Henry and Corine Dayman.
He attended school in Wauchula, Fla. He was a hard worker and a kind and generous person who helped and encouraged people who needed help.
He is survived by to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted earthly companion, Juldine Williams of Nocatee; one daughter, Kanta Dayman; two sons, Harold Dayman Jr. and Tyrone Dayman of Lakeland, Fla.; cousin, Mattie Pearl Williams of Wauchula; his extended family, Rosie Mae (Alberta) Williams, R.C. (Queenie) Williams, Charles Williams of Arcadia and Willie C. (Lizzie) Williams Jr. of Fairfax, S.C.; friends, Betty (Eddie) Norris, Barbara Tisdale, Johnnie (Grace) Scott, the Rev. James (Dorothy) Tice, Anthony Holmes, James (Donna) Webb; and many more friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Corine Dayman.

Larry Mahoney, 60, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
He was born
March 24, 1944, in West Orange, N.J., to Warren and Emily Mahoney.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He received his master's degree in business administration from Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He moved from Grand Island, N.Y., to Punta Gorda five years ago. Larry was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active with St. Vincent DePaul Society, Sacred Heart Chapter.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joanne Mahoney; and a stepson, Joseph Cormier of Arlington, Va.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Mahoney.

Juanita V. Morgan, 96, of Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004.
She was born
Sept. 3, 1908, in Arcadia, Fla.
Juanita graduated from DeSoto County High School in 1927. She will be remembered for working for the Holton Electric Co., working at the old Arcadia General Hospital and DeSoto Memorial Hospital before retiring. She was a member of the the First Presbyterian Church in Arcadia.
She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Margie Provau of Arcadia; and several additional nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia.

Rebecca L. Burns, 64, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, Fla.
She was born
July 4, 1940, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Rebecca worked at St. Francis Hospital and Community Hospitals in Indianapolis, and also worked at Venice hospital in Venice, Fla. She retired as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Deborah Foundation, a group offering financial support to Deborah Hospital in New Jersey.
Rebecca is survived by her son, Don Honea; daughter, Lee A. Bernard; brother, Tom Stansberry; grandchildren, Rosie Honea, Jaime Bernard and Rachel Buckle; and cousins, Sally Schaad and Clifton Bush.

Forrest J."Rusty" Gorsuch, 80, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
He was the son of John and Velma (Leatherman) Gorsuch, born
Oct. 22, 1923, in Waterloo, Iowa. Forrest served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to the Port Charlotte area in 1992 from Englewood, Fla. Rusty enjoyed crafting toys for children.
Forrest will be missed by his friend Helen Kaylor of Port Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet and a daughter Kathleen.

John R. Hill
John R. Hill, 69, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Indianapolis, Ind. passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.
He was the son of Edwin and Frances (Willde) Hill, born
March 25, 1925, in Detroit, Mich.
John retired from GM Truck and Bus Co. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 23 and was active in the Eagledale Football League as coach and league organizer. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards.
John will be greatly missed by his sons; Jeffrey (Rebecca) Hill and Stephen (Theresa) Hill; daughters Lisa (Timothy) Luttrull, Laura (Ramiro) Campins and Linda (Christopher) Wilgus; mother of his children Carolyn Hill; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Lyons and Betty Kennedy; and a brother Edwin Hill.

Michele Romano
Michele Romano, 94, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly from Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away Sept. 10, 2004, at Fawcett Hospital.
He was the son of Vincent and Rockina (Salama) Romano, born
Sept. 20, 1909, in Sicily, Italy. Michele came to the United States when he was 10 years old. He was of the Catholic faith and belonged to Holy Name Society. Michele worked as a painter and a decorator and worked at the Empire State Building in New York City. He would proudly say, "I worked at the Empire State Building from start to finish." He was a generous and loving man who helped and loved everyone he met.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Concetta; numerous nephews and nieces who called him "the candy man" because he loved to give Ricola candy to everyone he met.

Lisa Ann Davis, 49, of Arcadia, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at her home.
She was born
Feb. 26, 1955, in Painesville, Ohio.
Lisa was a resident of Arcadia since 1968. She was a 1974 graduate of DeSoto High School, and was employed at G. Pierce Wood Hospital for 26 years as a nurse's aide. She attended Church of Christ.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Delpha M. Davis of Arcadia; brothers, Mark (Lori) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Mike (Pam), James (Pam) and Steve, all of Arcadia; and sister, Deborah (Charlie) Miller of Arcadia; nine nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews.

Emmett G. Perdue
Emmett G. Perdue, 86, of Arcadia, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, in Leesburg, Fla.
He was born
July 4, 1918, in Fort Deposit, Ala.,
Mr. Perdue served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a resident of Arcadia since 1958, and was a retired insurance agent with Liberty National and DeSoto Insurance agencies. He was a charter member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia. Mr. Perdue was an avid hunter and sports fan who enjoyed softball and loved the Bucs.
He is survived by his son, Emmett G. "Jerry" (Pam) Perdue of Brooksville, Fla.; daughter, Sherry (Neill) Tyree of Nocatee, Fla.; grandchildren, Eric (Abby) Tyree of Clewiston, Fla., Mary L. Tyree of Nocatee, Joshua Perdue and Jamie L. Perdue, both of Brooksville; and great-grandchild, Charles Tyree of Clewiston.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mattie "Pat" Perdue, on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia. A joint Burial for Emmett and Pat will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
