Constance A. "Connie" Allred, 64, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2005.
She was born
Aug. 27, 1941, in Manatee County, Fla.
Mrs. Allred moved to the Arcadia area as a young child. She was retired from the Department of Corrections as sentencing specialist. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, painting, and above all, she loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Allred is survived by her husband, Marvin H. Allred Sr., of Arcadia; son, Marvin H. (Pam) Allred Jr. of Sebring, Fla.; daughters, Angie Allred and Amy (Harlon) Long, both of Arcadia; five grandchildren, Brandon Long, Zachary Long, and Brenna Long, all of Arcadia, Aaron and Justin Allred, both of Sebring; and sister, Imogene (Danny) Charbonneau of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia, with the Rev. Stephen Lamb officiating. Burial will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery.

Dora L. Ford
Dora Lee Ford, 96, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2005. She was born
April 2, 1909, in Sarasota, Fla. She spent most of her life living in Hardee and DeSoto Counties. She was a Pink Lady at local hospitals, and a member of the Women's Club, Garden Club and a bowling team. She was also a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Ken) McLeod of Wauchula, Fla., and Kay (Lama) Robinson of Sebring, Fla.; three sons, Gorden Ford of Arcadia, Fla., Nathan Ford of Wauchula and David (Nancy) Ford of Lake Placid; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Robarts Funeral Home in Arcadia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, graveside at Joshua Creek Cemetery.

Erie Marsh
Erie Marsh, 95, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2005.
She was born
Nov. 2, 1910, in Oak Grove, Fla.
Mrs. Marsh moved to Arcadia in 1979 from New Zion, Fla. She was a homemaker. Her special interests were cooking, gardening and quilting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Marsh was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia.
She is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Elizabeth (David) Ketner of Lakeland, Fla.; son, W.M. (Linda Sue) Marsh of Arcadia; four grandchildren, Leah (Larry) Liedke, Becky (Darrel) Schlabach, Ashley (Greg) Webb and Linsey (Brent) Forlow; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Lee Marsh; two brothers, Horace and Leroy Gough; and a sister, Edith Coker.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia with the Rev. Don Yates and the Rev. Richard Long officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in New Zion.

John Keane
John Keane, 77, of Englewood, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005.
He was born
Aug. 19, 1928, in Morristown, N.J.
Mr. Keane was a graduate of Morristown High School, class of 1946. He retired in 1990 after 40 years of service with the Lackawanna Railroad, Conrail and New Jersey Transit. He resided in Morris Plains, N.J., and moved to Englewood in 1991. Mr. Keane was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances "Peggy" Keane; daughters, Karen Keane (Peter) Benson of Columbia, Md., and Leigh Ann (Michael) Coolican of New Port, N.C.; a son, William (Anne) Keane of Morris Plains; a sister, Dorothy Bradshaw of Englewood; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at St. Raphael Church in Englewood.

Vada Jean Arndts, 75, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005.
She was born
July 29, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie (William) Wilson and Nancy (Robert) Wilson; two sons, Michael (Vicki) Arndts and Matthew (Mary) Arndts; one sister, Pauline Aldshire, all of Arcadia; one brother, Jerry Keister of California; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ethridge O. Edwards
Ethridge O. "Slim" Edwards, 68, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005.
He was born
June 24, 1937, in Cullman, Ala.
Mr. Edwards moved to Arcadia 56 years ago from Arab, Ala. He retired as a supervisor after 26 years of service at G. Pierce Woods Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and having fun with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Charles) Morgan of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; son, Kevin (Opal) Edwards of Arcadia; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, with the Rev. Terry Hudson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Mack Emory Jr., 49, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005. Robarts Funeral Home, Arcadia, is in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn Berardi
Kathryn "Kay" (Bradshaw) Berardi, 75, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Rockville, Md., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
She was born
Sept. 21, 1929, in Butler, Pa., to Arthur and Susie Bradshaw.
Mrs. Berardi enjoyed donating her time to various charitable organizations. For many years she helped to raise money for the MDA and the Shriners Hospitals. She also loved the many friends she made while volunteering at the the Cultural Center of Charlotte County. More than 50 nieces and nephews were fortunate to be loved by their aunt Kay.
She will be greatly missed by her devoted and adoring husband of 55 years, Edward Berardi; her loving daughter and son-in-law, Nannette (Mark "Ski") Gadomski; her younger siblings, Charles Bradshaw, Daniel Bradshaw, Betty Taylor and Russell Bradshaw; and her beloved dogs, Cricket and Mink. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Robert and Douglas Bradshaw.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, with the Rev. Kenneth Redmann officiating.

James L. Carter
James L. Carter, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in Punta Gorda.
He was born
Dec. 11, 1924, in Middle Grove, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Spirit of St. Louis Lodge No. 27 F&AM of Webster Groves, Mo., and Moola Temple of the Shrine of St. Louis. He retired as a salesman for Standard Oil Company.
Mr. Carter moved to Punta Gorda from St. Louis, Mo., in 1988. He attended the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby J. Carter of Punta Gorda; a daughter, Candace Knight of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Stinett of St. Louis; twin sons, Richard Carter of Dallas, Texas, and Randall H. Carter of St. Louis; two stepsons, Forrest Crawford of South Haven, Miss., and Hoyt Crawford of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the Punta Gorda chapel of Roberson Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul H. Russell of the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda will officiate.

Margaret K. Schneider
Margaret K. Schneider, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.
She was born
July 21, 1918, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Thomas and Mary (Barthel) Koehring.
Margaret retired as a postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service in Clay, N.Y., after more than 25 years of service. She was a member and past president of the National Association of Postmasters in New York. She moved from Clay to Punta Gorda in 1978. She was a member of the American Cancer Society, and established the Charlotte County Road to Recovery Program. She also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in both Cicero, N.Y., and Punta Gorda.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul R. Schneider; her children, Paul T. (Monika) Schneider and Jude (David) Williman, both of Port Charlotte, Robert F. (Mia) Schneider of Englewood, Fla., Donald K. (Jackie) Schneider of Constantia, N.Y., and Helen Rogers of Punta Gorda; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home in Punta Gorda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, with interment to follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.

Jean R. Bennett, 77, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at her residence.
She was born
Jan. 1, 1928, in Jamaica, West Indies.
Mrs. Bennett moved to Port Charlotte from New York, N.Y. in 1990. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 58 years, Ferdinand A. Bennett of Port Charlotte; four daughters, Faye Davis and Beverly Bennett, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jennifer Colon of Port Charlotte, and Marjorie Tribbett of Dallas, Texas; a son, Anthony Bennett of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at the Port Charlotte chapel of Roberson Funeral Home, with a Catholic wake service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.

Barbara B. Haase
Barbara B. Haase, 88, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in Sarasota.
She was born
July 1, 1917, in Yugoslavia.
She moved to Port Charlotte in 1980 from Franklin Park, Ill., and then to Sarasota after the death of her husband, Rudolph F. Haase, in 2002. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte.
She is survived by a daughter, Heidi Grant of Lombard, Ill.; a close friend, Clayton M. Cramer of Sarasota; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.

Diane J. Lancaster, 53, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at her residence.
She was born

She was a park ranger for the Florida Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry, at Myakka State Forest and a member of the State Incident Command Team.
She moved to Port Charlotte from Bradenton, Fla., five years ago.
She is survived by her mother, Joan Ann Lutz of Port Charlotte; a sister, Sharon (Scott) Gray of Basking Ridge, N.J.; and many friends in the Division of Forestry throughout Florida.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at the Port Charlotte chapel of Roberson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at the funeral home.

Jon A. Mueller
Jon A. Mueller, 64, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at his home.
Jon was born
Jan. 3, 1941, in Orange, N.J., to William H. and Mary (Monney) Mueller.
He served in the U.S. Army and later received his bachelor's degree from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa.
Jon was a college administrator at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., before moving to Punta Gorda from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., two years ago. He had been a seasonal Punta Gorda resident for several years.
Jon enjoyed golfing and sailing, and he was member of the Burnt Store Marina Golf Club, as well as a member of the local American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Mueller; a brother, W. Richard (Janet) Mueller of Milford, N.J.; a sister, M. Christine (Clyde) Gensert of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Jon is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Ann Harrower.
A celebration of Jon's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the home of Roselyn Brenan, with a reception to follow at 1080 Matecumbe Key Road, Burnt Store Marina.
