Albert F. Grace

Albert Francis Grace, 69, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at his residence.

He was born icon Nov. 5, 1936, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Mr. Grace served in the U.S. Navy. He was an electrician for the Ford Motor Company. He retired after many years of service and moved to Port Charlotte in 1998 from Michigan.

Mr. Grace is survived by his loving wife, Bernit B. Grace of Port Charlotte; two sons, Anthony Jackson and Bradley Grace, both of Ypsilanti; his mother, Vera St. Clair and stepfather, John St. Clair of Inverness, Fla.; brother, George Grace of Inverness; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at the Port Charlotte chapel of Roberson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at the funeral home. The Rev. James R. Kuse of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, Fla., with military honors by the U.S. Navy.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel.

Rita J. Marfia

Rita J. Marfia, 72, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in Gettysburg, Pa.

She was born icon Feb. 7, 1933, in Waukegan, Ill., the daughter of the late Alfred and Jane Tiernan VanHaecke.

Mrs. Marfia was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph T. Marfia; son, Vincent P. Marfia of Littlestown, Pa.; sister, Lois A. Kerpan of Waukegan; and five grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 211 W. Charlotte Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.

Arrangements are by Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Edward L. Martinson

Edward Lee Martinson, 58, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at his residence.

He was born icon Oct. 9, 1947, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

Mr. Martinson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War. He was self-employed in the lawn service business.

Mr. Martinson is survived by his companion and friend, Sandy Groover of Davenport; two sons, John and Michael Martinson, both of Gulfport, Fla.; daughter, Ashley Martinson of Gulfport; father, John Martinson of Fifield, Wis.; mother, Alma Hilt of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Russell A. Martinson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Chris J. Martinson of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Sue Ann Martinson of El Cerrito, Calif.; and granddaughter, Alexandria.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at First Alliance Church of Port Charlotte, 20444 Midway Blvd., Port Charlotte, with the Rev. Larry Pope officiating.

Arrangements are by Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 2675-A Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte.

Agatha V. Murray

Agatha V. Murray, 88, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte.

She was born icon Dec. 26, 1916, in Grenada, West Indies.

She was a retired nurse's aide and a member of the Independent United Order of Scottish Mechanics of Brooklyn. Mrs. Murray moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from Brooklyn, N.Y.

She is survived by her loving husband, Victor B. Callender of Port Charlotte; daughter, Alexandrine Alexander of Brooklyn; sister, Edna Christie of Brooklyn; brother, Kenneth Christie of Venezuela; eight grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Port Charlotte chapel of Roberson Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 4 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel.

Lawrence F. Vituj

Lawrence F. Vituj, 76, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005.

He was born icon March 29, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. Vituj was the airplane crew chief for General Van Fleet during the Korean War when he served in the U.S. Army. He moved to the Port Charlotte area in 1974 from Bedford, Ohio. He was an owner and operator of Custom Boat Tops in Charlotte Harbor, Fla., for the past 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita Vituj, daughter, Joan Vituj, and sons, James and Jeff Vituj, all of Port Charlotte; sister, Mary Ann Lubinski of Garfield, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Monica of Port Charlotte.

Services will be held at a later date.

Donations may be sent to his wife, Rita Vituj.

Lydia M. Allred

Lydia Martin Allred, 85, of Englewood (Charlotte County), Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005. Arrangements are by Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, Sarasota, Fla.

J. Carl Kohl

J. Carl "Doc Golf" Kohl, 63, of Lake Suzy, Fla., passed Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at his home.

He was born icon Nov. 2, 1942, in Stroudsburg, Pa. He was the son of the late Roland J. and Betty (Kohl) Dunkelberger, and was adopted and raised by Carl and Mary Alice (Bentzoni) Kohl.

Mr. Kohl served in the U.S. Army's National Guard in East Stroudsburg, Pa. He was the former owner and operator of the Colonial Bowling Alley and the Raquet Ball Club, both in Stroud Township. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1106 in Stroudsburg and the B.P.O. Elks 319 in East Stroudsburg. Mr. Kohl lived in Stroudsburg most of his life until moving to Florida 15 years ago. He was a member of the Kingsway Country Club in Florida and the Northampton Country Club in Pennsylvania. Doc Golf will be dearly missed by his friends at the Kingsway Country Club, the Northampton Country Club, and all of his family and friends.

He will be mostly missed by by his wife, Dawn (Fredrick) MacIntire Kohl; his two daughters, Donna Sue (Elwood) Hungarter of Nazareth, Pa., and Linda Kohl of Stroudsburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his very best buddy Maurice, and his "bad boys," Hoops and Mitts.

He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Carl and Mary Kohl.

Arrangements are by William H. Clark Funeral Home, Stroudburg.

Victor F. Hanley

Victor F. Hanley, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday Nov. 18, 2005.

He was born icon July 21, 1925, in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, the son of Gerald and Elsie (Richardson) Hanley.

When he was a child, Victor's family lived in a lighthouse. He was a veteran of the Canadian and American Armed Forces. Victor moved to the Punta Gorda area in 1989 from Seattle, Wash. He was always a gentleman who loved his family and friends.

Victor will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Joyce; daughters, Donna (Ronald) Herr and Ellen Hanley, both of Seattle; and grandchildren, Christine, Ron, and Emily Herr, all of Seattle.

Tyler A. Jordan

Tyler Andrew Jordan, 13, of Riverview, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.

He was born icon Feb. 14, 1992, in Tampa, Fla.

Tyler was baptized into the Catholic Church. He attended Eisenhower Middle School in Gibsonton, Fla., and was a violinist in the orchestra. He also played football, basketball and ran track. Tyler's dream was to become a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne like his father. For 13 years, he enriched the lives of his family and friends; his talents in academics and music brought them much joy and they will always remember him for this.

Tyler will be missed by his parents, Kurt and Christina Jordan of Riverview; maternal grandparents, Corinne and John Yingling of San Antonio, Texas, and Patrick and Patricia Russo of Melbourne Beach, Fla; paternal grandparents, Mike and Bonnie Jordan of New Castle, Ind., and Paul Schoonover Sr. of El Jobean, Fla.; great-grandfather, Roy Neel; five uncles, six aunts and numerous cousins; three dogs; and a school and neighborhood full of wonderful, caring friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.

Sandra L. Morrow

Sandra Lee Morrow, 62, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at her home.

She was born icon April 2, 1943, in Haverhill, Mass.

Arrangements are by ICS Cremation Society Inc.

Edwin E. Prather

Edwin Eugene "Gene" Prather, 88, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Courtyard Assisted Living Facility.

Gene was born icon July 24, 1917, in Star City, Ind. to Mr. and Mrs.

Fay Prather.

He worked as an engineer for Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Ind., with many patents to his credit, before his retirement in 1976 to Punta Gorda. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron, a volunteer for many years at Life Care Center in Punta Gorda, a member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge, and the St. Andrews Golf Course.

Gene was loved by all who met him and will be missed just as much. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Fran, at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.

Kays-Ponger Funeral Home of Punta Gorda is in charge of arrangements.

Lois J. Daughtrey

Lois J. Daughtrey, 90, of Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005.

She was born icon Sept. 24, 1915, in Cordele, Ga.

She moved to Arcadia from Cordele in 1934.

She was a registered nurse until she started her family. She was former owner and operator of Daughtrey's Flower Shop in Arcadia. She was former president of the Arcadia Garden Club and a member of the Sonshine Club at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia.

She loved working with flowers and anything having to do with gardening. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara "Babs" (Richard) Ames of Arcadia; two grandchildren, Richie and Andy (Pam) Ames, both of Arcadia; and four great-grandchildren, Steven, Ashley, Kacey and Landon Ames all of Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carroll Lee Daughtrey in 1982 and son Cecil Daughtrey.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church, Arcadia. The Rev. Don Yates will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Fred H. Rochester

Fred Houston "Rusty" Rochester, 91, of Petersburg, Ky., formerly of Logan, Ohio, and a past 20-year resident of Charlotte Harbor, Fla. and Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, in Homewood, Ill.

He was born icon Jan. 31, 1914, in Logan.

Mr. Rochester was an aircraft mechanic, an oil rig owner and operator and former owner of Rusty's Crystal Bar. Rusty was an "entrepreneur" before it was a common term. He was a former Exalted Ruler of the Logan Elks Club 452. Rusty was able to continue his love for motorcycling until his 90th birthday. At that time he was forced to sell what he recalled as his 49th motorcycle. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Logan.

He is survived by his two daughters, Gretchen Fugett of Homewood and Melinda "Bitsy" McKay of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Gelise, Greg, Stephanie, Heather and Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Emma and Eve; and good friend, "Bill W." of Charlotte Harbor, Fla. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 63 years, Emma R. (Lehman) Rochester, on Aug. 10, 2001.

Graveside service will be held at a later date, not yet scheduled.

The family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas, KY 41075.

Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home. Logan.

Patrick Sallee

Patrick "Pat-a-Tat" Sallee, 56, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.

He was born icon Feb. 15, 1949, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Ernest and Virginia (Peariea) Sallee.

Pat was a tattoo artist and moved to the Punta Gorda area from Miami, Fla. in 1993. He was an avid member of Alcoholics Anonymous and A.B.A.T.E. He was also a member of Angel Ministries in Venice, Fla.

Pat will be greatly missed by his wife of seven years, Shelley Bay; son, Charlie Sallee of Venice; mother, Virginia Sallee Bergeson of Venice; brother, Michael (Randee) Sallee of North Miami Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Aliya Sallee of Venice; and nephews, William and Ian, both of North Miami Beach.

A memorial service in celebration of Pat's life will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Angel Ministries, 2269 Tamiami Trail, South Venice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Shelley Bay to help with expenses, c/o Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Center, 1700 Tamiami Trail, F-1, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
