Mrs. Eleanor P. Wolfe
Eleanor P. Wolfe, 74, Bradenton, passed away January 11, 2012. She was born
on August 3, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to the late George & Dorothy Popham. She moved to Bradenton in 1979 coming from Plainfield, IN. Eleanor was retired from the Manatee County School Board where she taught and served as a Guidance Counselor for the former Bradenton Middle School, King Middle and Johnson Middle, and was a member of the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 49 years Ronald, son, John, daughters; Amy (Ron) Davis, Kate all of Bradenton, two brothers; George (Arlene) Popham of Portland, OR, John (Kay) Popham of Grand Junction, CO, and nine grandchildren. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church,2850 75th Street West, Bradenton. Mr. Bruce E. Stepp
Bruce E. Stepp, 82, Lake Placid & Venice, Fl., passed away January 10, 2012. He was born
on December 25, 1929 in Logan County, West Virginia to the late Johnson & Cassie (Maynard) Stepp. Bruce served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Local 659 of the Auto Workers Union, and a member of the V.F.W. Bruce moved to Florida in 1984. He is survived by his son; Shane (Heather) Shehorn of Venice, brother, Gayle (Jacquelyn ) Stepp of Lake Placid, and two granddaughters; Kaitlyn & Emily. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, on Cemetery Road just East of Highway 27 in Lake Placid, Florida with military honors to be rendred by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Christopher Scott Stokes, 22, Bradenton, passed away January 6, 2012. Christopher was born
on January 27, 1989 in Sarasota, Fl. to Albert Aaron. & Betty (Eason) Stokes. He was a life long resident of Manatee County, where he worked as a glass cutter and formerly with the Salvation Army. He is survived in addition to his parents by his fiancée Gwendolyn Cardente, a son, Isaiah Scott Stokes, brother, Robert Aaron Stokes, sister, Tiffany Louise Stokes, and her fiancé Robert William Bartholow, and maternal grandparents; Bobby Joe & Chrissy Eason, all of Bradenton. Winnie Moser, 91, Bradenton, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012. Winnie was born
on May 21, 1920 in Rome, Georgia to the late A. Dean & Eula (Giles) Davis. She moved to Manatee County in 2005 coming from Tullahoma, Tennessee where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh in June of 2009, and a grandson Adam Wiles in March of 2010. Winnie is survived by her daughter, Karen and her husband Ray Wiles of Bradenton, and two grandchildren. Mr. Orville Wipperman
Orville Wipperman, 87, Bradenton, formerly of Eldon, MO, passed away at his home on January 5, 2012. Orville was born
on April 1, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. He was a veteran of World War II, including a landing at Normandy. He was a recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Orville retired as Police Chief of Camdenton, MO. Orville and his loving wife Doris retired to Bradenton in 2003 where they enjoyed 8 plus wonderful years. His joy in life came from his family, friends and his music. A singer of country songs and guitarist, Orville loved to perform and for many years pursued a professional career. . He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Doris and his parents, Orville & Ethel Wipperman of Kansas City, MO. He is survived by two sons, Bill of Bradenton, Leonard of McMinnville, OR, two daughters, Dyanna of Banning, CA. Kathy of Anaheim, CA, two brothers, Lloyd & Carl of Kansas City, MO, sister, Bessie of San Jose, CA, nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many devoted friends from all over the world. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Oneco United Methodist Church, 2112 53rd Ave. E. (SR 70), Bradenton. Edna J. Gallagher, “Nan”, 97, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Blake Hospital in Bradenton. We were blessed to be her family and those who knew her over the years loved her. She was generous, thoughtful, loving and kind. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, she was raised in Philadelphia, PA. She worked for the Army Signal Corps during WWII as a purchasing agent. After the war, she, her husband and daughters moved to Newark, DE where she retired from the Chrysler Corporation as a secretary. In 1974 she and her husband moved to Long Boat Key, Fl. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, daughter, Barbara and grandson Baby Joe. Sister Rita and brothers Ed & Joe Kane, and her beloved grandson Patrick. Survivors include her daughter Rosemarie and her husband Jack Ryder with whom she resided. Grandson, Michael and great-granddaughter Jessica, grandson Bill and his wife Lisa and great-grandson, Jack. Granddaughter Kathy and great-granddaughter Melissa. Granddaughter, Joanna and her husband John, and great-granddaughter Breanna. Nephews; Charles and Steve Kane, Sisters-in-law, Olwyn Kane and Doris Shellenberger, and other relatives including her cousin, Sister Eileen Side. Services at the request of the family will be private, with arrangements for Edna to be interred at Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Memorial Garden. Mrs. Deanne I. Kuhl
Deanne I. Kuhl, 59, went home to be with the Lord December 22, 2011. Born in Adrian, Michigan, August 16, 1952, she was the daughter of Stanley & Ilene Kuhl. Deanne attended the Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI from 1970-72 where she played varsity basketball for the Concordia Cougars. She then attended Concordia Lutheran College in River Forest, Illinois where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1974. She was then called by the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Texas to teach 2nd grade and coach the girl’s athletics program for five years. Deanne returned to her home town of Adrian and spent several years working in the family business and teaching at St. John Lutheran School. She came to Bradenton in 1993 where she served as the Director of the Preschool and Learning Center at Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton. She also worked locally as a restaurant manager. She is survived in addition to her parents by her two sisters and their husbands; Deborah & Kenneth Rogner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Patricia & Mark Durham of Bradenton, three nephews; Joshua Durham, TJ Sroufe and his wife Lisa, Patrick Sroufe, and a great-niece, Leah Sroufe. A celebration of Deanne’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church, 4635 26th St. W., Bradenton. Mrs. Vera Espinola-Beery
Vera Espinola-Beery, St. Petersburg 79, Museum Curator & Conservator of Russian Antiquities, went to be with our Lord Monday, December 26, 2011 after a long terminal illness, while residing at her daughter Karen’s home in Myakka, FL. She was born
April 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL, from Russian immigrants. She was raised in New York City where she met and married her late husband Dr. Mario Espinola, a Dominican immigrant. They raised four children in Fairfax, VA where she obtained her M.A. in Museum Studies from George Washington University, Washington D.C. Vera was a Conservator and Consultant from 1976-1992 for the Smithsonian Institute; numerous other Museums, Institutions and private collectors. She was the U.S. Curator for the Florida International Museum’s signature exhibit “Treasures of the Czar”, the Titanic exhibit, plus many others throughout the world. Vera was a faithful attendee to Word of Christ International Church in Myakka, FL and a member of St. Andrews Russian Orthodox Church while residing in St. Petersburg, FL. She was predeceased by her husbands, Mario E. Espinola, M.D. and Bruce Beery; her son Mario Espinola, Jr. and her grandson John Espinola. Vera is survived by her daughters Janet Steuber and Lisa Clayborne in Northern Virginia, Karen Dakin of Myakka, FL; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at The Meeting Place, 7704 County Road 674, Myakka, Fl. Private committal will take place at Royal Palm Cemetery South, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Hospice Program. Michael A. Kazil, 68 of Bradenton, passed away December 25, 2011. Michael was born
on May 10, 1943 in Prague. He moved to Florida in 1991 coming from Chicago, were he worked in real estate and was the owner of a nightclub. He worked locally as a painter, and was the former owner of the Old Europe Restaurant in Bradenton. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton. Michael was predeceased by his parents, and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Linda of Bradenton, two sons; Peter Kazil of Parrish, Larry Shumway of Sarasota, two daughters; Jacqueline Kazil of Washington, D.C., Kelly Fuller of Middletown, OH, and three grandchildren; Brianne Shumway of Sarasota, Nathan & Makenzie Fuller of Riverview, Fl. A family eulogy will be held at 9:15 A.M. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 A.M at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradenton. Nancy L. Cheverie, 74, Bradenton, passed away December 23, 2011. She was born
on September 29, 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Roy L. Sr., & Esther (Vail) Rook. She Moved to Bradenton in 1962 coming from Hamilton. She was retired from Wellcraft in Bradenton with over 20 years of service, and attended Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle. Nancy was predeceased by two brothers, and is survived by two sons; Randy (Vickie) Carberry of Bradenton, Jeffery (Kim) Carberry of Myakka City, daughter; Lisa Blacketer of Bradenton, brother, Barry (Angela) Baker of Bradenton, six sisters; Kelly Scott of Ft. Myers, Fl., Mary Crowley, Patty (Billy) Shelton, Donna (Steve) DeLesline, Betty (Roger) Roark all of Bradenton, Sissy Campbell of Hamilton, OH, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Idyllis Murray
Idyllis (Wallen) Murray passed away peacefully on December 21, 2011. Born on November 24, 1924 in River, Johnson County, Kentucky to Miranda (Borders) and George Hansford Wallen, She was the seventh child of ten in her family. Her siblings’ names were Roma, Mitchell, Keltz, Roberta, Shelly, Kermit, Easter, Gervin and Phyllis. They grew up on a farm where she described a family who worked together and enjoyed a simple life of country pleasures. Her family members all played different musical instruments, and she had fond memories of them playing and singing together with their parents. During WWII she proudly worked at the Kingsbury Powder Plant in Knox, Indiana, making artillery shells. She also worked for a time at a pants factory. In 1944 she met Arvin Murray who was a Merchant Marine in the Pacific. They were married on September 14, 1945 in Paintsville, Kentucky, and remained a happy, loving couple for 53 years until his death in 1998. Idyllis and Arvin were the parents of three boys. She was proud to be a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies such as quilting and gardening, as well as upholstering with Arvin. She described her life with her family as joyous. Idyllis was a member of the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church where she held many dear friendships. She was loved and respected by friends and family and counted herself fortunate to be surrounded by so many cherished ones. Mrs. Murray is survived by sons Richard Allen Murray of Palmetto, Florida, and his wife Vicki; Bradley Vincent Murray of Palmetto, Florida, and his wife Rebecca. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvin and her oldest son Farrell Keith Murray. Her family also includes seven grandchildren: Matthew, Melissa, Tamera, Sherena, Miranda, Vincent and Adam as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She had two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours for family will be from 5:30 to 6:00 P.M. and friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Ross Allen McGee, 43 of Bradenton, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Ross was born
on March 4, 1968 in Sarasota, Florida to Larry & Dorothy (Wagner) McGee. He has been a lifelong resident of Bradenton and Sarasota. Ross was a semi-tractor trailer driver. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 325 in Ellenton. Ross is survived by his son, Ross A. McGee II of Bradenton, FL, daughter, Amanda-Kay M (Reuben) Kraft of Sarasota, Fl., parents; Larry & Dorothy McGee of Bradenton, Fl., one brother, Larry (Jordana) McGee of Germantown, MD, one sister, Debra Kay (Daniel) Dubbs of Sarasota, Fl., and two grandchildren. Mr. Gary Lamar Claar
Gary Lamar Claar, 63, Bradenton, passed away December 14, 2011. Gary was born
on April 12, 1948 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Gary was a nuclear mechanic retiring from what was known as Florida Power & Light which is now known as Progress Energy in Crystal River. He moved to Bradenton six years ago coming from there. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Bradenton. Gary is survived by his loving wife Carol of Bradenton, son and his wife; Howard Joseph & Stephanie Claar of Bradenton, daughter and her husband; Amanda Grace & Peter Norton of Bradenton, brother, James De Armitt of Altoona, Pennsylvania, two sisters; Kathleen Stephens and Helen Gummo both of Bellwood, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren. Irene Morris, 81 of Nashville, TN and Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Mrs. Morris was born
on January 22, 1930 in McRae, Arkansas to the late William Albert & Lois Gertrude (Jackson) Dailey. She has been a resident of Nashville, Tennessee since 1965 coming from Germany where her late husband was stationed with the United States military. Irene has also been a winter resident of Bradenton since 1995. She was a retired elementary school teacher for the Andrew Jackson Elementary School in Old Hickory, TN for many years, a member of the Lincoya Hills Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee were she taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton, Florida. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Luther P. Morris in November of 1996 and a brother Carl Dailey, she is survived by her three loving sons; Skip (Debbie) Morris of Marietta, Georgia, Rodger Morris of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeff (Lori) Morris of Fredericksburg, VA, one brother, James (Liz) Dailey of Arlington, Texas, two sisters; Freda (Woody) Smith of Rogers, Arkansas, Adelene (Luther) Bearden of Batesville, Arkansas, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 1-3 and 5-7 P.M. at the Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Parkway, Nashville, Tennessee. A celebration of her life will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lincoya Hills Baptist Church, 3143 McGavock Pike, Nashville, Tennessee. Robert L. Charles, 72, Palmetto, passed away December 16, 2011. He was born
on September 26, 1939 in Haslett, Michigan to the late Raymond and Inez (Hawes) Charles. He served with the U.S. Navy, and moved to Manatee County in June of 1987 coming from Eaton Rapids, Mich. He was the former owner of Island Auto Body on Anna Maria for over 14 years, and a member of the Island Baptist Church, attended the First Baptist Church of Ellenton, and was a member of the Studebakers Driver's Club. He is survived by his three children, Ray (Heather Schroder) and Cyndy (Kevin Lyon) Charles both of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Wayne Charles of Palmetto, brother, Jim (Debra) Charles of Parma, Mich., six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his companion Judy Brackin of Nokomis. Michael Hunter Dallas, 64 of Bradenton and Sarasota, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Michael was born
on January 23, 1947 in Virginia to the late Troy & Elsie Dallas. He has been a resident of both Bradenton and Sarasota since a very young age coming from Virginia. Michael served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and was a retired engineer working in the drafting industry. During his career he help to design the conveyor system at Tropicana Products in Bradenton. Michael is survived by his loving companion and former wife, Debra of St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, one son, Graham Dallas of Odessa, Texas, one daughter, Katherine Dallas of St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, one brother, Richard Dallas of California, one sister, Betty J. Cook of Vernon, Florida, and two dear grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, Florida with final military honors by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Dorothy Wallace Johnson, 91 of Bradenton, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at her residence in Bradenton. Mrs. Johnson was born
on May 25, 1920 in Bradenton to the late George R. & Catherine (Vaughn) Wallace. She was a lifelong resident of Bradenton. Her memberships include the Manatee Historical Society, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, former volunteer with the American Red Cross, and a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she formerly served on the altar guild and was involved in many other church functions. She was predeceased by her loving husband Gilbert E. Johnson, Sr. in February of 1984, and is survived by her only son, Gilbert E. Johnson, Jr. of Bradenton. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Fogartyville Cemetery in Bradenton.
