Funeral service for Donna J. Pearce, 53, DeLand, who passed away July 31, 2008, at her home, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand with Pastor Rick Carrillo officiating. Burial will be in Pinehurst Cemetery, DeLeon Springs. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pearce was born in Fort Hood, Texas and was a lifetime resident here. She was retired as a business owner of Hunter's Restaurant in DeLand and had also worked for 12 years at Emmy's Time Out Tavern. She was president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a member and chairman of the Amvets and a member of the Junior Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband, David "Cracker" Pearce; one son, Kenny Phelps, Lebanon, Pa.; one daughter, Kristy Ramos, Palm Coast; stepmother, Diane Martin, DeLand; sister, Starla Grubb-Schaub, DeLand; stepdaughter, Susan Casey, Port Orange; stepsister, Elisa Variam, Pompano Beach, Fla.; stepbrothers, David Echols and Sean Echols, both of DeLand; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Satterfield; father, Sonny Massey; stepfather, Earl Martin; and her brother, Johnny Grubb.

Barbara Deane Petro
September 21, 1939 - August 3, 2008
Funeral servcie for Barbara Deane Petro, 68, DeLand, who died August 3, 2008, at her home, will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand, with Rev. Chuck Hassel officiating. Burial will be in DeLand Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Petro was born in Mitchell, IN and moved here in 1975 from Columbus, IN. She worked with her husband at their businesses, Northside Auto Sales and Ugly Duckling Rent-a-Car in DeLand.
Survivors include one son, Lloyd Petro, DeLand; two daughters, Lori Hunter, DeLand, and Patty Dixon, DeLand; one brother, Don Fleenor; five grandchildren, Lance Petro, Pittsburgh, PA, Justin Dixon, Walton, KY, Ryan Hunter, DeLand, Brandy Dixon, DeLand, and Kevin Hunter, DeLand; and her beloved Yorkie Poo, Sassy. She was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Ayers, and two brothers, Rex Fleenor and Basil Fleenor.

Funeral Service for Dorothy J. Jones, 87, DeLand, who died August 6, 2008 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Orange City, FL, will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 9 at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand, FL, with Minister Bill Fugerer, officiating. Burial will be at Church of Christ Cemetery
in Blue Ridge, GA.
Mrs. Jones was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to this area in 1992 from Wilkesboro, North Carolina. She was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Church of Christ in DeLand.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Joseph (Immogene) J. Jones, Sr. of Jacksonville, NC; nephew, Joseph H. Jones, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; niece, Jennifer J. Robertson of New York City, NH; sister-in-law, Kathryn Hand of New Bern, NC; niece, Mary K. Davison of Baltimore, MD; nephew, Dr. William Hand III of New Bern, NC; niece, Elizabeth Hand of Alexandria, VA.

Funeral Service for Marjorie McLaughlin, 66, Orange City, who died August 7, 2008 at Florida Hospital DeLand, will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 359 West New York Avenue, DeLand, FL, with Father Frank Zammit officiating. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 11 at Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand.
Ms. McLaughlin was born in Waltham, MA and moved to this area 8 years ago from Cape Cod, MA. She was a retired Nuclear Medical Technician with Florida Hospital DeLand. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand.
Survivors include her three daughters, Kalen Krim of Orange City, FL, Kristen Winship-Peck of Orange City, FL, Karin McLaughlin of Orange City, FL; one brother, John Hayes of Nantucket, MA; three sisters, Janice Gorman of Los Alamos, NM, Kathleen Nydam of Cape Cod, MA, Elaine Vermette of Cape Cod, MA and six grandchildren.

Orsolina Maria Flynn
August 11, 2008
Orsolina Maria Flynn, 86, of Peytona, West Virginia, passed away to be with her God, August 11, 2008 after a full life. All who were blessed by her friendship will sorely miss her. Born in Massachusetts her parents were Italian immigrants and Mrs. Flynn worked all her life starting with helping her mother at the family boarding house. She then worked with Pan-American Airlines and became one of the first keypunch operators in the nation. She finished her career with the Volusia County Department of Elections in 2005 at the age of 83 where she was an elections clerk. Her friends at the Department of Elections stated she was a hard worker and she would assist them with any tasks needed.
Her husband, Francis, a brother, Joseph and beloved granddaughter, Ashleigh preceded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Joseph & Bridget, John & Jessica; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Meagan, Kelly, Megan, Lillian, Christopher and Neil along with great-granddaughter, Jaycee and great-grandson, Mason.
Vieiwing will be from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand with graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery
to follow at 1:30 p.m.
Leonard L. Schornak
March 4, 1913 - August 15, 2008
Leonard L. Schornak, 95, loving husband, great father and good neighbor, went home to his Lord on August 15, 2008. As a young man he joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a radioman. He transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration and retired with 32 years of service in air traffic control. Throughout his career, his wife, Geraldine, accompanied him to several locations, including some 15 years in the new state of Alaska. He was an avid golfer and model train enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Gerrie, son, Tom, as well as three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Len, after this time on earth, you are now eternally safely home with your loving Lord.
