Funeral Service for Gordon George Townsend, Jr., 49, Eustis, who died July 9, 2008 at his residence will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 14 at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand, FL, with Pastor William Yesse officiating. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery
in DeLand. Calling hours were held on Sunday, July 13 at the funeral home.
Mr. Townsend was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his two daughters, Brittany Townsend of Ohio and Amanda Townsend of DeLand, FL; one sister, Audrey Trainor of DeLand, FL, three nephews and two nieces.
Salvatore John Cola

Funeral Services for Salvatore John Cola, 51 DeLand, who died July 11, 2008 at his home in DeLand, will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 359 West New York Avenue, DeLand, FL, with Father Bill Gohring officiating. Burial will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Calling hours are from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Lankford Funeral Home with a Wake service at 7 p.m. Monday, July 14 at the Chapel of Lankford Funeral Home.
Mr. Cola was born in Sanford, Florida and was a lifetime resident of DeLand. He was a Logger in the Lumber industry. He enjoyed the outdoors with boating, water and air boats and was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, John Paul Cola of DeLand, FL; one daughter, Lisa Marie Ogram of Deltona, FL; parents, Jack and Laura Cola, DeLand, FL; one brother, Steven Cola, DeLand, FL; three sisters, Pamela A. Watson, DeLand, FL, Diane O'Brien, Apopka, FL, Lori Stanfill, Orlando, FL and two grandchildren, Jonas S. Ogram, Deltona, FL and Cadin Cola, DeLand, FL.
Viktoriay N. Karpinskaya-Lloyd
December 15, 1979 - July 14, 2008
In loving memory of Viktoriay N. Karpinskaya-Lloyd who quietly passed away at Florida Hospital in Orlando, FL on Monday, July 14, 2008. She moved here from Russia six years ago and lived in Mt. Dora, FL for two years before moving to Orlando with Richard Lloyd. Viktoriya was a lawyer and leaves behind many friends as well as family.
She was the most beautiful and loving daughter of Nikolay and Valentina, Krasnodar, Russia; loving mother to Kirill; loving wife to Richard; loving sister to Olga (Oleg); and loving aunt to Leah, Anna and Nikolay. Viewing will be at the Assembly of God Church in DeLand on Thursday, July 17, 2008, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon with a service beginning at 12 noon. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
Karen Laverne Griffis

Miss Griffs was a homemaker and she loved her family. Survivors include her daughter, Ashley Marie (Doodlebug) Griffis, Orange City; her mother, Claudia Griffis, Orange City; two brothers, James (Bubba) Franklin Griffis and Norman A. Griffis, both of DeLand; two sisters, Loretta (Ralph) Griffis Ahrens, Orange City, and Martha (Sissy) Griffis, DeLand and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marguerite M. Morin
September 19, 1924 - July 18, 2008
Memorial Mass for Marguerite M. Morin, 83, DeLand, who died July 18, 2008 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Center, DeLand, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at St. Peters Catholic Church in DeLand.
Ms. Morin was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and moved to this area in 1972 from her birthplace. She was a retired Tax Preparer for H & R Block.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane Morin of Quincy, IL and Gail and her husband, Joe Ford, of DeLand, FL; one brother, Albert E. Pare of Palm Coast, FL; one granddaughter, Autumn Ford of DeLand, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Pare and two brothers, Roland Pare and Hubert M. Pare.

Martha Y. Smith
April 26, 1916 - July 19, 2008
Memorial Service for Martha Y. Smith, 92, DeLand, who died July 19, 2008 at Florida Hospital DeLand, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, 319 West Wisconsin Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720.
Mrs. Smith was born in McKenzie, Tennessee and moved to this area in 1943 from St. Augustine, FL. She was a retired school teacher for the Seminole County School Board.
Survivors include one son, McFerrin Smith of DeLand; one daughter, Martha Rollins of Watertown, MA; four grandchildren, Jamie Findley of Storrs, CT, Harold Findley of San Francisco, CA, Mack (McFerrin) Smith and Kelly Smith, both of DeLand.

James Joseph Kane
January 11, 1928 - July 21, 2008
James Joseph Kane, beloved husband of Ann Marie Kane, died July 21, 2008, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim spent his life sharing his Catholic faith. He was a role model for his students during his 32 years of teaching, retiring from DeLand High School in 1989. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jim was also past president of the West Volusia Retired Educators Association and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
He brought his ministry of caring into the Florida Hospital DeLand as a Eucharistic Minister of the sick. In addition, Mr. Kane was a Cursillista, a Promise Keeper, a Hospice volunteer and in every way a man of faith. Friends will remember his humor, intelligence, quick wit and willingness to lend a hand whenever or wherever needed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Kane; three daughters; two nephews
and eight grandchildren. The eldest daughter is Margaret Cornelius of DeLand and her husband, Raymond Cornelius, and granddaughters, Genevieve Cherrett of Greenville, SC and her husband, Paul Cherrett, Mary Cornelius of Charleston, SC and Kate Cornelius of DeLand. The middle daughter is Kathryn Fisher of Centennial, CO and her husband, George, and grandchildren, Victoria and James Fisher. The youngest daughter is Frances Pendell of Aurora, CO and her husband, Tim Pendell; and grandchildren, T.J., Bridget and Jimmy Pendell. The two nephews are Michael Kane, Melbourne, FL, and his wife, Lynne, and Christopher M. Kane, Arlington, VA.
The viewing will be held at Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand, Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand. Memorials may be made to Hospice of West Volusia/Flagler.
Dolores M. Myles
November 21, 1927 - July 23, 2008
Dolores M. Myles, 80, DeLand, passed away July 23, 2008 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Center, DeLand, FL. Mrs. Myles was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved to this area in 1959 from Waterville, Maine. She was a retired manager for the Peabody Auditorium for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a 7th Degree Ranger.
Survivors include her son, Stephen (Wendy) Callahan of San Francisco, CA and two grandchildren, Erin & Aidan, both of California. Burial and service will be held in Maine.
Brittany Lynn Cramer
September 6, 1988 - July 25, 2008
Brittany Lynn Cramer was born September 6, 1988 and passed away July 25, 2008. She went to a better place and is now at peace. Brittany was a loving daughter and will be deeply and sadly missed by her father, Thomas M. Cramer and mother, Jo A. (Stevens) Cramer. Brittany was also a loving sister and will be missed just as much by brothers, Scott Cramer and Sean Cramer. Most importantly, Brittany was a loving and caring mother to Ava Hope, who only had a short time to know and love Mommie.
Brittany was a fun loving, good hearted person with a great personality who always lit up a room with her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. She touched the lives of many during her short time with us. She loved spending time with friends and always had an open ear for anyone. She enjoyed being with her special angel, Ava. Her goal was to pursue a career in criminal justice.
Brittany was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ronald Stevens; grandfather, Michael Cramer; grandmother, Mildred Cramer; and aunts, Mary K. Cramer-Kirby and Patricia L. Cramer. Brittany will also be sadly missed by nephews, Michael, and nieces, Madysen and Candace; grandmother, Peggy Stevens; and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as Ava's father, Mark. Brittany will always be in our thoughts and is loved and will be missed deeply!
Viewing will be on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
Andrew E. McCord
April 7, 1922 - July 27, 2008
Memorial service for Andrew E. McCord, 86, DeBary, who passed away July 27, 2008, at DeBary Manor, DeBary, FL, will be 11 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008, at Stetson Baptist Church, 1025 W. Minnesota Ave., DeLand, with Chaplain Reggie May officiating.
Mr. McCord was born in Glendale, TN and came here in 1985 from Hollywood, FL. He was an Army World War II veteran and retired as a dispatcher with Eastern Airlines after 39 years. He was a member of Stetson Baptist Church, Eastern Airlines Retirees Association, Retired Eastern Pilots Association, Loyal Order of Moose in DeLand and the American Legion Post 6 in DeLand.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Grace McCord; son, Timothy McCord, Middlebury, CT; brother, David McCord, Alexander City, AL; sister, Elizabeth Phillips, Gadsden, AL; and two grandchildren, Sam and Madeline.
