Thomas Louis Mehl Sr.

NEWBERRY -- Thomas Louis Mehl Sr. of Newberry died Wednesday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 60.

Mr. Mehl invented beauty aid products and was president of the former Mehl Biophile International Corp. in Gainesville. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

Born in Hackensack, N.J., he moved from Pompano Beach to Newberry 13 years ago.

He was a member of Christian Life Fellowship in Newberry.

Mr. Mehl enjoyed business, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, AnnMarie L. Mehl of Newberry; a son, Thomas L. Mehl Jr. of Newberry; four daughters, Susan Koegel of Boca Raton, Debbie McDougald of Asheville, N.C., Tammy L. Mehl of Newberry and Robin L. Clark of Alachua; a brother, Raymond Mehl of Tampa; three sisters, Florence Janho of South Bound Brook, N.J., Barbara Adolphson of Boone, N.C., and Joan Easterling of Tampa; and 12 grandchildren.

David Lee Myers Sr.

David Lee Myers Sr. of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 59.

Mr. Myers was a cook at Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at the University of Florida.

Born in Tallahassee, he moved from Tallahassee to Gainesville 58 years ago. He attended Lincoln High School.

Mr. Myers was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Claretha Crawford Myers of High Springs; two daughters, Patricia Myers-Hayes and Linda Myers-Daniels, both of Gainesville; three sons, David Myers Jr., Raymond Myers and Darrin Bivins, all of Gainesville; three stepdaughters, Cynthia Mitchell of Tampa, Yvonne Cox of Raleigh and Sherry Crawford of Gainesville; two stepsons, Terry Crawford of Gainesville and the Rev. Benjamin Crawford Jr. of Austell, Ga.; his mother, Willie Kate Myers Roundtree of Gainesville; four sisters, Willie Bell Myers of Jacksonville, Diane Myers and Marion Myers-Hampton, both of Gainesville, and Debra Robinson of Graff, Germany; two brothers, Harry Green Jr. and Lawrence Shade, both of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marvin Leroy Porter

OLD TOWN -- Marvin Leroy Porter of Old Town died Monday at his home. He was 66.

Mr. Porter was a construction worker.

Born in Centralia, Ill., he moved from Centralia to Old Town 20 years ago.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Porter of Old Town.

Vinson Richards

Vinson "Mutt" Richards of Gainesville died May 14 in Fannin County, Texas, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 74.

Mr. Richards retired as a technician from Shaw and Keeters Auto Body Repair. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Born in Midland City, Ala., he moved to Gainesville more than 50 years ago.

He was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Richards was preceded in death by a son, Donald Richards.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Richards of Gainesville; two sons, Russell Richards of Eight Mile, Ala., and Doyle Richards of Gainesville; a daughter, Carol Locke of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Frank Williams

WILLISTON -- Frank "Bear" Williams of Williston died Monday at Nature Coast Regional Hospital after a long illness.

He was 55.

Mr. Williams was employed by O.B. Brooks Grassing.

Born in Ocala, he was a lifelong resident of Williston.

Survivors include a brother, Henry Williams of Williston; and his caregiver, Bertha Timmons of Williston.

Lorienza A. Alvarez

STARKE -- Lorienza A. "Runt" Alvarez of Starke died Monday at Vencor Hospital in Green Cove Springs. He was 77.

Mr. Alvarez was a retired stockman at Cecil Field. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a lifelong resident of Bradford County.

Mr. Alvarez was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Alvarez; and a daughter, Lorraine Roberts.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Jones of Starke; two sons, Leaman Alvarez of Raiford and David Alvarez of Starke; four sisters, Annie Mae Barker of Starke, JoAnn Lloyd and Carolyn Alvarez, both of Palatka, and Lucille Roy of Hollywood; two brothers, Herbert Alvarez of Palatka and Earl Alvarez of Valdosta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sadie Brady

LIVE OAK -- Sadie Brady of Live Oak died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Brady was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Live Oak.

Born in Lenoir, N.C., she moved from Jasper to Live Oak 46 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Brady.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Kirkland of Live Oak; four sons, Malcolm Brady of Arlington, Va., Kenneth Brady of Raleigh, N.C., James Brady of Bradenton and Alton Brady of Lakeland; a sister, Charlotte Sanders of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers, James H. McCall Jr. of Jasper and Amos McCall of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jan L. Hennessey-Deeb

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Jan L. Hennessey-Deeb of Louisville, Ky., died unexpectedly Friday at her home. She was 48.

Mrs. Hennessey-Deeb was an administrator for Jefferson County public schools, a coordinator of Maupin Elementary School's Family Resource Center and an instructor at Jefferson Community College in Louisville.

She was born in Fort Campbell, Ky.

Mrs. Hennessey-Deeb was a member of Neighborhood Place Ujima Community Council, National Federation of Teachers, Community Coordinated Child Care Council and Southeast Christian Church Urban Missions Task Force.

Survivors include her mother, Alma K. Hennessey of Gainesville; three sons; two brothers; and two sisters.

Hazel Turner Kite

FORT WHITE -- Hazel Turner Kite of Fort White died Tuesday at Shands at Starke in Gainesville. She was 81.

Mrs. Kite was a homemaker and a member of Elim Baptist Church in Fort White.

Born in Gainesville, she lived most of her life in Union County before moving to Fort White 10 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Kite.

Survivors include three sons, Donnie A. Kite of Fort White, Ronald O. Kite of Charlotte, N.C., and Fred Kite of Middleburg; a sister, Bonnie Wilbur of Cortez, Colo.; two brothers, Kenneth Turner of Orange Springs and Wilbur E. Turner of DeBary; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Edward Rudolph Markham

SUWANNEE -- Edward Rudolph Markham of Suwannee died Sunday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. He was 75.

Mr. Markham was an engineer for Southern Bell. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Born in Lulu, he moved from Gainesville to Suwannee 12 years ago.

He was past president of the Southern Bell union and enjoyed fishing and being the captain of a charter boat.

Mr. Markham was a Protestant.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Kowitz of Daytona Beach and Nancy Markham of Archer; two sisters, Naomi Elizabeth Regier of Nebraska and Helen Scott of Tennessee; his companion, Ruby Brown of Suwannee; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Eugene Joseph Imperato

Eugene Joseph Imperato of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at AGH. He was 60.

Mr. Imperato was born in New York City and moved from South River, N.J., to Gainesville 15 years ago.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a brother, John Imperato of Bayville, N.Y.; and three sisters, Theresa Coyle of Gainesville, Rose Marie Ragsdale of Okeechobee and Claire Sibille of Las Vegas.

William Edward Roberts

William Edward Roberts of Gainesville died Tuesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. He was 90.

Mr. Roberts was a former city manager for Florida State Theaters in Gainesville for more than 30 years.

He later retired as senior vice president of University City Bank.

Born in Macon, Ga., he moved from Bradenton to Gainesville 69 years ago. He attended the University of Florida.

Mr. Roberts was a former president and treasurer of the Rotary Club, past chairman of the Red Cross fund-raising drive, a charter member of the Gainesville Jaycees, member of the First United Methodist Church, Gainesville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Theta Chi Fraternity and American Legion. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mr. Roberts enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Christine Spruill "Jill" Roberts of Gainesville; and a niece.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.
