David Anthony Shockley
TAMPA -- David Anthony Shockley of Tampa died Sunday at Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa due to injuries suffered in an auto wreck. He was 24.
Mr. Shockley was a lab technician at Bryn-Alan Studios in Tampa and owned Rockstar Videos in Gainesville and Tampa.
Born in Dallas, Ore., he lived in Gainesville for 17 years before moving to Tampa two months ago. He was a 1993 graduate of Eastside High School.
Survivors include his parents, Ed and Cathy Shockley of Alachua; a brother, Justin Shockley of Gainesville; his companion, Diana Hackett of Tampa; and his maternal grandmother, Marie Barrone of Monmouth, Ore.
Destini Shantel Slocum
STARKE -- Destini Shantel Slocum of Starke died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville due to injuries suffered after the car she was a passenger in hit a train. She was 8.
Destini was a student at Southside Elementary School.
She was a lifelong resident of Starke.
Destini was a member of Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Church of Starke, where she was a member of the youth choir.
Survivors include her mother, Peggy Petteway of Starke; three sisters, LatriceSlocum, Quaneal Slocum and Shania Petteway, all of Starke; and her grandparents, Isaiah and Mildred Petteway and Ron and Martha Porters, all of Starke; and her great-grandparents, Everett and Leola Morris of Starke.
Gertie Evelyn Spivey
ORLANDO -- Gertie Evelyn Spivey of Orlando died Monday in Orlando. She was 84.
Mrs. Spivey was born in Carbur, Taylor County, and moved to Orlando 50 years ago.
She was a member of Baptist Purity Church of Cross City.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Julian Spivey; and a daughter, Dawn Bell.
Survivors include three sons, including Jack Spivey of Horseshoe Beach; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Freddie Zorovich
HIGH SPRINGS -- Freddie Zorovich of High Springs died Tuesday at his home. He was 86.
Mr. Zorovich was a cement plant supervisor.
Born in Nerezine, Yugoslavia, he lived in Miami for 30 years before moving from Ocala to High Springs five years ago.
He was a member of St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Zorovich of High Springs; two sons, Larry Zorovich of High Springs and Paul Zorovich of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Adrienne Key of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers, Richard Zorovich of Miami, Jack Zorovich of Long Island, N.Y., and Tony Zorovich of Yugoslavia; a sister, Zita Zorovich of Yugoslavia; and five grandchildren.
Elmer H. Bell
Elmer H. Bell of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was 61.
Mr. Bell was a pharmacist. He was also a former mayor of Cairo, Ga.
He was born in Cairo and moved from Cairo to Gainesville 18 years ago. He graduated from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Bell was a former president of Walking Horse Association of Florida.
He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bell of Gainesville; a daughter, Michele Yurman of Manville, N.J.; a son, Michael Whitley of Atlanta; and two sisters, Harriet Willis of LaGrange, Ga., and Beverly Cliett of Tallahassee.

Al K. Carlisle
STARKE -- Al K. Carlisle of Starke died Monday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. He was 79.
Mr. Carlisle was a retired U.S. Army colonel. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietname War.
Born in Dunnellon, he moved from Ocala to Starke 23 years ago.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Starke.
Survivors include a son, James Carlisle of Ocala; a daughter, Janice Trujillo of Bernalillo, N.M.; a sister, Audrey Carlisle of Ocala; a stepson, Carl Robinson of Boxboro, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Ferry of Amherst, Mass., and Priscilla Poutenis of Groton, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Louis Hiram Carmichael
CRAWFORDVILLE -- Louis Hiram Carmichael of Crawfordville died Sunday in Tallahassee. He was 71.
Mr. Carmichael was born in Lafayette County and moved from Tallahassee to Crawfordville five years ago.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Carmichael of Crawfordville; a son; a stepson; a daughter; a stepdaughter; three sisters, including Velma Golden of Live Oak; and seven grandchildren.
Ruth Elizabeth Finnell
Ruth Elizabeth Finnell of Gainesville died Monday at her daughter's home in Gainesville. She was 85.
Mrs. Finnell was a homemaker.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., she moved from Johnstown to Gainesville 14 years ago.
She attended the Family Church in Gainesville.
Mrs. Finnell was preceded in death by a son, James Finnell.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Lionel Kurtz Finnell of Gainesville; a daughter, Linda Butler of Gainesville; four brothers, Merle Roseman of Johnstown, Ray Roseman of Endicott, N.Y., and Carl Roseman and Bob Roseman, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters, Grace Lear of Cleveland and Mary Clark of Johsntown; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Johnnie Lee Outlaw
ALACHUA -- Johnnie Lee Outlaw of Alachua died Monday at his home. He was 85.
Mr. Outlaw was a retired finishing carpenter.
Born in Dothan, Ala., he moved from Auburndale to Alachua 39 years ago.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jessie LoreneShaw Outlaw of Alachua; four daughters, Gwen O. Rousselle and Connie O. Hollander, both of Alachua, Pamela O. Dunlap of Tallahassee and Frances O. Chavez of Trenton; and eight grandchildren.
Richard Lawrence Stewart
BRONSON -- Richard Lawrence Stewart of Bronson died Sunday at his home. He was 72.
Mr. Stewart was a retired truck driver.
Born in Abbeville, Ala., he moved from Miami to Bronson five years ago.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Stewart of Bronson and David Stewart of Chicago; a daughter, Christine Salloum of Spring Hill; two sisters, Ann Cox of Chiefland and Christine Stewart of El Paso, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Betty Utley-Davis
Betty Utley-Davis of Palatka died Sunday at Hospice House of North Central Florida in Gainesville. She was 67.
Mrs. Davis was a former seamstress and cook.
Born in Sanford, she moved from High Springs to Palatka 21 years ago.
She enjoyed fishing, sewing, cooking, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, William C. Davis of Palatka; a son, James Utley Jr. of Gainesville; two daughters, Nancy Ruth Davis and Katherine Chrismer, both of Hollister; three brothers, Bobby Drew of Palatka, Jimmy Drew of Satsuma and Nathan Drew of Interlachen; two sisters, Margaret Tindell of Orange Hill and Nancy Sapp of Ozark, Ala.; and seven grand- children.
Ernest W. Grabo
SAFETY HARBOR -- Ernest W. Grabo of Safety Harbor died Friday at Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 55.
Mr. Grabo was formerly employed by Pinch-A-Penny and Continental Structures. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was born in Cleveland and moved to West Central Florida 46 years ago.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean Grabo of Safety Harbor; two daughters; a son; a stepdaughter; his mother, Eileen Grabo of Gainesville; two sisters, including Patti Williams of Gainesville; five grandchildren; and three step- grandchildren.
M.R. DeLaney
OLD TOWN -- M.R. DeLaney of Old Town died Friday at the Tri-County Nursing Home in Trenton after a long illness. He was 85.
Mr. DeLaney was a retired stonemason in South Florida and Jacksonville.
Born in Old Town, he moved from Jacksonville back to Old Town 23 years ago.
He was a member of Rock Sink Baptist Church in Old Town, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers of America. He was a former Boy Scout master in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lavada Smith DeLaney of Old Town; two sons, Randolph DeLaney of Old Town and Robert DeLaney of Greenwich, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
