Mrs. Macy Gainey Risner, 71, of Youngstown, formerly of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Bay Crest Nursing Home following a short illness. She was born July 7, 1930, in Cacey, S.C., to the late Payton and Janie Cain Gainey. She was a former dispatcher for Springfield Police Department. She also worked in the health field as CNA for many years. She was preceded in death by her son, Payton (Eddie) Regan. She is survived by two sons, Floyd Regan and wife, Sheila, John Regan and wife, Donna; three daughters, Macy (Susie) Bodiford, Janice Chalk and husband, Lowell (Ed), and Patricia Sikes, all of Panama City; three brothers, William of Tyler, Texas, Charles of Palm Coast, Fla., and Lewis Gainey of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Laurie Terminelli of Washington, N.J.; adopted grandson, Charles Regan of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Callaway. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. William Colen Tew Jr., 64, of Vernon, Fla., passed away Feb. 6, 2002, at Bay Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Lenora Watkins Tew of Vernon, Fla.; one daughter, Lynda Krawczyn of Panama City; four sisters, Faye Martin of Wallace, N.C., Joyce Andrews of Faison, N.C., Shirley Killette of Goldsboro, N.C., and Lynn Holland of Bowden, N.C.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Tew was a native of Warsaw, N.C., and moved to Northwest Florida in 1961. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Live Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. James Watkins, the Rev. Steve Schillinger, the Rev. John Kennedy, and the Rev. Greg Hammock officiating.

Mrs. Gloria Barlow, age 62, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1965, coming here from Chipley. Mrs. Barlow was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William "Bill" Barlow of Panama City; two daughters, Lisa Andrews and her husband, Bill, and Cindy Madsen and her husband, Jeff, all of Lynn Haven; a son, Greg Barlow and his wife, Pam, of Panama City; five grandchildren, Greg Still, Ashley Madsen, Alicia Madsen, Tyler Andrews, and Austin Barlow; her mother, Lola Melson of Panama City; two sisters, Betty Howell and her husband, Ray, of Birmingham and Sharon McKinney and her husband, Jerry, of Panama City; three brothers, Clyde Melson and his wife, Ilene, of Pensacola, Rusty Melson and his wife, Jean, of LaGrange, Ga., and Douglas Melson of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Doris Blackmer, 86, of Youngstown, Fla., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at a local nursing facility. She was a member of Sandhills Assembly of God Church and she enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Blackmer is survived by one son, Robert V. Blackmer and his wife, Jennie R., of Youngstown; one daughter, Barbara Stewart of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Patrick Kethcart and his wife, Mary, of Blue Island, Ill.; a granddaughter, Angela J. Keen and her husband, Leamon, of Southport; grandsons, Jeffrey J. Ottie Faye Callaway, 79, of 606 Bunkers Cove Road, Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, Women's Auxiliary, where she served as secretary for three years and treasurer for five years; the Garden Club, Azalea Club, where she served as treasurer for three years and secretary for two years, Woman's Club, where she was treasurer for four years and secretary for two years, the Junior Service League, Bridge Club, and Birthday Club. She also was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City where she was a member of the LLL Sunday school class. Mrs. Callaway was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Daniel Callaway. She is survived by her daughter, Anfe Callaway Brooks and her husband, Chad, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and two sisters, Lola Fraizer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Hortense Embry of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Panama City with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Rita Floyd, 85, of Southport, died Thursday morning, Feb. 7, 2002, at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Sherry L. Freund, 58, of 4133 Cherry Lane, Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Sharon, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Sharon, Pa. She was born in Sharon on Oct. 14, 1943, a daughter of the late Harold E. and Guyla Passmore Barnicle. Mrs. Freund was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sharon, where she served on the administrative board and was an usher. She was a 1961 graduate of Sharon High School and a 1963 graduate of Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio, where she received her associate's degree in business. She retired in 2001 as the police clerk for the Sharon Police Department with 29 years of service. Mrs. Freund was a member of Sharon Chapter No. 242, Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Shrine No. 18, Sharon, Pa., and a former member of the American Businesswomen's Association. She had served as the secretary-treasurer of Local 2962 of ASME. She is survived by her husband, Edward F. Freund; and a daughter, Sharyn Rotunno of Pittsburgh, Pa. Mrs. Freund was preceded in death by a son, Paul Rotunno. Services were held in Sharon on Friday, Feb. 8. Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 555 E. Capt. Carl Jackson Raffield, 86, of St. Joe Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at a local hospital. He was the founder and fleet captain of the Raffield Fisheries, Inc. Capt. Carl Raffield is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura Evelyn Raffield of St. Joe Beach; three surviving sons, William Harold Raffield and his wife, Sandra, of St. Joe Beach, Ronald Clayton Raffield and his wife, Peggy, of Port St. Joe, and Danny Lee Raffield and his wife, JoAnn, of Simmons Bayou, Fla., and was preceded in death by a son, Carl Eugene Raffield Sr., and his surviving widow, Emogene Raffield, of Port St. Joe. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Raffield of Tennessee; sisters, Bertie Davis of Sanford, Fla., Myrtle Curti and Mytice Smith, both of Panama City, Sue Wesler of Port St. Joe, and Eloyce Pratt of Port St. Joe; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. George Tang, 46, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in an Arlington, Va., hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1956, in Tokyo, Japan. He was a graduate of Manhattan College in New York City, with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He had been a resident of Panama City for the past 18 years. He was employed as an engineer at the Coastal Systems Station in Panama City Beach. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Tang. He is survived by his wife, Carol Tang of Lynn Haven; father, Chiu F. Tang of Panama City Beach; and a brother, Edward Tang of Peekskill, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Monday.
