Magdalena Emma Kirkland, 73, of Panama City died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. She had been employed at the Tyndall Recreational Center Snack Bar as a cook since 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kirkland. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Westbrook; and two grandchildren, Jasmine Westbrook and Anthony Westbrook, all of Panama City. Mr. John Leonard "Len" Conlin, age seventy plus, of Panama City Beach, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at a local hospital. He was born in New Jersey and had lived in Bay County for 30 years. Mr. Conlin is survived by his wife, Lillian Roland Conlin of Panama City Beach; three daughters, Linda Musselwhite of Palm Bay, Fla., Judy Teague and her husband, Benny, of Merritt Island, Fla., and Laura Thorough and her husband, Bill, of Destin, Fla.; a brother, Joe Conlin of New Jersey; four granddaughters, Melissa, Jessica, Victoria, and Mindy; and a grandson, Allan. Memorialization will be by cremation, with no services to be held locally. His remains will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico where he spent many happy days.

Mrs. Florence Kamens, age 70, of Panama City Beach, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Southington, Conn., and had lived in Panama City Beach since 1993. Mrs. Kamens was retired as an account coordinator for the Hallmark Card Company after 17 years of service. She was a member of the Panama City Pilot Club and the Panama City Mustang Club. She was also a graduate of the Bay County Sheriff's Office Citizens Police Academy, and was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. Mrs. Kamens is survived by her husband of 47 years, Earl Kamens, of Panama City Beach; one daughter, Jody Kamens Nadeau, of Lynn Haven; a son-in-law, Ronnie Nadeau, of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Kamens. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at the St. Bernadette's Catholic Church with Father O'Shea officiating. Dennis Joseph Ramirez, 53, of Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. He had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was a science teacher, having taught at Bay High and Rutherford High Schools. He was a 1966 graduate of Bay High School and an alumnus of the University of Florida where he was a member of the Alumni Association. He was active in NEA, was a member of the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, and was a former member of the St. Andrews Men's Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph (Joe) Ramirez in October 2001. Mrs. Mary Frances Rawson, 67, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002. She was born in Calhoun County, Fla., and was a longtime resident of Bay County. Mrs. Rawson is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie C. Rawson. She was a loving mother and grandmother who is survived by two sons, Roger Rawson and Gary Rawson and wife, Debra, all of Panama City Beach; one brother, John Abbott and wife, Nancy, of Calloway; two granddaughters, Brittany Rawson and Shawna Attwood and husband, Nathan; two grandsons, Christopher Rawson and Brian Rawson; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Rawson and Lauren Attwood. She also leaves behind a loving companion, Buddy Welch. He was a retired glazer for Tommy's Glass and was of the Baptist Faith. The world lost a very beautiful person Billie Zielinski, age 89, of Sunny Hills, Fla., Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Panama City. She had been a resident of Sunny Hills, Fla., for the past 291/2 years coming from Mt. Clemens, Mich. She was of the catholic faith and a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Society. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Monsignor Francis Szczykutowicz officiating. Rosary services will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. today, Feb. 3, at Brown Funeral Home. Cremation will be at a later date. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Zielinski.
