Elder O.T. Stallworth of Port St. Joe went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Gulf Pines Hospital. He was born in Conecuh County, Ala., on April 20, 1912. Elder Stallworth served as pastor of the Port St. Joe Church of God in Christ and was an active community leader. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Stallworth. He is survived by his children, Henry Taft (Pearl) of Orlando, Theotis (Frances), Richard (Patricia), and Otis Jr. (Martiel), all of Tallahassee, Calvin (Ida) of Titusville, Henry King, Lois Byrd (David), and Deborah Crosby (John), all of Port St. Joe; two brothers; three sisters; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Port St. Joe on Saturday, Feb. 2, at noon ET. The wake will be at the Church of God in Christ today, Feb. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Stripling, loving wife and mother, age 61, of Wewahitchka, Fla., who passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 1, 2002, at First Baptist Church of Wewahitchka with the Rev. Mrs. Gretchen Margo Briggs, age 98, of Panama City, passed away Jan. 31, 2002, at a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Panama City for four years moving here from West Palm Beach, Fla. Mrs. Briggs had worked as a seamstress in New York City and West Palm Beach, Fla., and had once fitted clothes for Marlene Dietrich. She was Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Briggs is survived by one son, Herbert Ralph Briggs of Chiefland, FL; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jane Briggs Sizemore of Panama City; one granddaughter, Michelle Newsome and her husband, Wayne, of Lynn Haven; one grandson, Kevin Briggs and his wife, Eva, of Bartow; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Samantha Newsome; and one brother, Freddy Mecker of St. Petersburg. Graveside services will be held today, Feb. 2, 2002, at 4 p.m. with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Esther Allen Dickson, 73, of Beacon Hill, formerly of Greenwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Panama City following a lengthy illness. Born in Clay County, Ky., she graduated from Berea College in Berea, Ky., in 1952 with an A.B. degree in elementary education. She moved to Florida in 1953 to teach and received a master's degree in special education from Florida State University in 1972. She retired from the Jackson County School System in 1982 with 30 years of dedicated teaching. She continued to teach five more years in Plaquemines Parish, La. After retirement in 1987, she moved to Beacon Hill. She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Dickson Sr. of Beacon Hill; two sons, Greg Dickson and his wife, Elizabeth, of Seagrove Beach and Chuck Dickson of Greenwood; two daughters, Kathy Arnold and her husband, John, and Krissy Gentry and her husband, Pat, all of Beacon Hill; eight grandchildren, Patty Duncan, Zachary and Lavonia Dickson, Kathryn, Jared and Kristiana Arnold, Jacob and Colby Gentry; one great-grandson, Patrick Duncan; five brothers, Phillip Allen and his wife, Lorene, of Louisville, Ky., John Allen and his wife, Jean, of Burlington, Ky., Ben Allen and his wife, Jolene, of Lebanon, Ohio, Brack Allen and his wife, Annie, of Escondido, Calif., and Bill Allen and his wife, Arlene, of Hamilton, Ohio; three sisters, Iona Robertson and her husband, Albert, of Brooksville, Ind., Bertha Harrison of Fairfield, Ohio, and Jean Turner and her husband, Dave, of Hamilton, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Magdalena Emma Kirkland, 73, of Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. She had been employed at the Tyndall Recreational Center Snack Bar as a cook since 1974. Dennis Joseph Ramirez, 53, of Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. He had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was a science teacher having taught at Bay and Rutherford high schools. He was a 1966 graduate of Bay High School and an alumnus of the University of Florida where he was a member of the Alumni Association. He was active in NEA, was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, and was a former member of St. Andrews Men's Club. Mrs. Mary Frances Rawson, 67, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002. She was born in Calhoun County, Fla., and was a longtime resident of Bay County. Mrs. Rawson is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie C. Rawson. She was a loving mother and grandmother who is survived by two sons, Roger Rawson and Gary Rawson and wife, Debra, all of Panama City Beach; two granddaughters, Brittany Rawson and Shawna Attwood and husband, Nathan; two grandsons, Christopher Rawson and Brian Rawson; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Rawson and Lauren Attwood.
