WILLARD CARL CLEMENTS
Willard Carl Clements, 80, of 10945 Clements Road, Youngstown, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in his home. He was born on Oct. 4, 1921, in Youngstown and had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was a retired pulpwooder and farmer. He was a member of the Aletha Fellowship Church. He was an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife, Lorine McClain Clements; four children, Jack Clements, Peggy Kelley and her husband, Mike, Jimmy Clements and his wife, Tammy, John Clements and his wife, Elaine, all of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Chris Clements, Kevin Stevens, Brandon Kelley, Amy Clements, Bryon Kelley, Steven Clements; two sisters, Bernice McGill of Hiland Park, Dorothy Barrett of Commerce, Ga.; and a brother, Charlie Clements of Port St. Joe, Fla. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Emerson and the Rev. Houston Capps officiating. Interment will follow in the Clements Homestead, Youngstown, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

MARY JANE GRIFFITH
Mary Jane Griffith, 62, went home to be with the Lord while with her family in her home on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, after a courageous and extended bout with cancer. She touched many and was loved by all. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Griffith; his mother, Sally Griffith; children, Scott and Cindy Griffith, Shawn and Billie Griffith, Kenny and JoAnne Griffith, Russell and Starr Nichols; nine grandchildren; sister, Susan Graham; and brother, Walter Derda Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Asked to serve as active pallearers are: Allen Insco, Charles Corlett, Zane Jarzynka, Richard Goodwin, Tom Spence and Wilmer Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 17, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. If desired, gifts can be sent to the Hope Lodge, American Cancer Society and/or Covenant Hospice.

SUSAN KAY GUTA
Mrs. Susan "Sue" Kay Guta, 51, of 273 Laird Circle, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Dec. 15, 2001, at her home. Mrs. Guta was born in Columbia, Pa., and had moved to this area in 1979 from Mechanicsville, Md. Mrs. Guta was employed by the Bay County School Board for the past 20 years and taught at Waller Elementary School. She was also a member of the Gulf Beach Baptist Church. Mrs. Guta was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Roy Guta. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Geraldine B. Hock, of Barrington, R.I.; her husband, the Rev. Rudie Guta, of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two sons, Nathan Lee Guta of Tallahassee, Fla., and Freddie Guta of Panama City Beach; three daughters, Faith Elizabeth Guta of Pensacola, Fla., Kristina Joy Russell and husband, John, of Niceville, Fla., and Margaret Ann Guta of Panama City Beach, Fla.; one sister, Shelley Swallow and husband Richie of Rehoboth, Mass.; two nieces, Michelle and Amy Swallow of Rehoboth, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Savannah, Courtney, and Madison. Funeral services for Mrs. Guta will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Gulf Beach Baptist Church in Panama City Beach with the Rev. Gregg George, the Rev. Dennis Rader and the Rev. Rudie Guta officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Gulf Beach Baptist Pollack Missionary Fund in honor of Mrs. Guta.

GEORGE THOMAS HICKS
Mr. George Thomas Hicks "George" of Panama City died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at his residence. Born in Prescott, Ariz., he moved to Panama City more than 15 years ago from Arkansas. George served in the United States Navy special forces as a Navy Seal retiring for health reasons. After retiring, he participated in many different enterprises. He had attended Centeral Baptist Church. George is preceeded in death by his mother, Laura Edna Smith. Survivors include his wife, Judith M. Hicks of Panama City; four sons, Timothy H. and George R. Hicks of Panama City, Vincent E. Hicks of Arkansas and Everitt K. Hicks of Germany; three daughters, Saleena L. and Christy L. Hicks of Panama City, and Angela M. Hicks of Alford, Fla.; brothers, Charles, Lonnie Dean, Rufus, Dewey and Glenn Hicks, all of Arkansas; sisters, Midge Hicks and Vernitta Rogers of Arkansas and Beth Baker of Florida. Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Southerland Family Funeral Home, 100 E. 19th St., Panama City, with military honors being rendered.

OLLIE MAE SMITH
Mrs. Ollie Mae Smith, age 86, of 2316 Michigan Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Sat. Dec. 15, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of Bay County for 61 years, coming here from Washington County, Fla. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Gap Pond Baptist Church. She worked at the Shipyard as a welder during WWII and also worked at the shirt factory in St Andrew. She survived by two sons, Hershel Smith and Buel Smith, both of Panama City, Fla.; three daughters, Betty Anne Rudd and Charlotte Smith, both of Panama City, Fla.; and Frances Gilbert of Apalachicola, Fla.; one brother, Earnest Grantham of Wausau, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchilden. Mrs Smith was preceded in death by seven sisters, Mollie Rogers, Lizzie Hutch, Maggie Hancock, Lettie Taylor, Ruthie Taylor, Dovie Burch, and Lillie Chance; two Brothers, Jessie Howell and Willie Grantham. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 17, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring may make a donation to Hospice of Emerald Coast.

KENDALL LYNN PIPPIN
Funeral services for Ms. Kendall Lynn Pippin, age 16, of Panama City, who passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at a local hospital, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 17, 2001, at the Hiland Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Pickerill and the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Entombment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Matthew Watson, Greyson Fuller, Justin Busch, Joshua Thomas, Matthew Pippin, Bo Sullivan and Blake Costabile.

BETTY J. LEITER REDMON
Mrs. Betty J. Leiter Redmon, age 80, of Round Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Redmon was a long time resident of Jackson County and a member of Round Lake Baptist Church. Mrs. Redmon was also a former member of The Eastern Star as well as The Bay County Media Association. She retired from the Bay County School system, after 40 years, where she taught English and also served as a librarian. Mrs. Redmon loved her family very much, as well as her home, flowers, reading, music and playing the piano. Mrs. Redmon was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Andrew Redmon, in 1968. Survivors include one son, Richard Andrew "Rick" Redmon and wife, Donna, of Milton, Fla.; one daughter, Peggy McKenny and husband, Michael, of Alford; one brother, Jack 0. Leiter, of Sylvester, Ga.; two sisters, Marcile Bagley of Huntsville, Ala., and Martha E. McClain of LeHigh Acres, Fla.; four grandchildren, Brandon McKenny, April McKenny, Andrew Redmon and Twyla Riley. Services for Mrs. Redmon will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Round Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Doug James officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Panama City with Marianna Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 17, 2001, at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Those serving as active pallbearers for Mrs. Redmon will be Greg Riley, Brandon McKenny, Jeff Bagley, Brandon Barbee, Tubby Welch and Nathan Riberdy. Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Andrew Redmon, Jon Bagley, Charles Arrant, Matt Arrant, James Steele, and Col. Jim Cox. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

Bobby Lynn Corbitt, 44, of Lynn Haven, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the chapel of James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville, with the Rev. Hilton Esmond officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Mill Cemetery with James and Lipford Funeral Home directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today at 10 a.m. until time of service. Bobby was born in Fort Walton Beach on July 10, 1957. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietname War and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Corbitt, on Dec. 12, 2001. Survivors include his mother, Annette Pelham Corbitt of Lynn Haven; three sons, Lamar Corbitt and Charles Corbitt, both of St. Joseph, Mo., and Joshua Corbitt of Lynn Haven; one sister, Ann Santi and husband, John, of St. Joseph, Mo.; one grandson, Dalton, of St. Joseph, Mo.

GERTRUDE B. DEMARS
Mrs. Gertrude B. Demars, age 93, of Panama City, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, in a local hospital. Mrs. Demars had been a lifelong resident of Bay County and a former school teacher and principal. She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church and the Panama City Women's Club. Mrs. Demars is survived by one son, W. Talley Bludworth and wife, Patricia, of Lynn Haven; one sister, Ann Gilmore and husband, Lloyd, of Southport; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Demars will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Hal Jensen. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
