Funeral services for William James Pettit Sr. will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

STEPHEN R. 'STEVE' GALO
Mr. Stephen R. "Steve" Galo, age 48, of Panama City, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at his residence. He was a native of Pine Hill, N.J., and had lived in Panama City for fourteen years, moving here from Rosemead, Calif.
Mr. Galo was a pressman for Boyd Brothers Printing Co. and attended Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
He was a member of the CGR Hunting Club and enjoyed all types of outdoor activities.
He is survived by a daughter, Gina Craig and her husband, Zane, of Panama City; his mother, Jeanne Hughes of Youngstown; a sister, Linda Rizzo and her husband, Paul, of Youngstown; his nephews, Joe Rizzo of Youngstown, Robert Carr of Grenloch, N.J., Patrick Carr of Williamstown, N.J., and Paul Rizzo Jr. of Clementon, N.J.; three great-nephews; three great-nieces; and many aunts and uncles.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Interment will follow.

BETTY JO GRIMES
Betty Jo Grimes, age 69, of Washington Twp, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Moody and her mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Melvin Robbins.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Calvin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Karen Grimes of Xenia, Ohio, Danny and Brooke Grimes of Panama City, Melvin and Amy Grimes of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Trista, Nadelka, Joanna, Michael, Kevin, Carter and Andy; four sisters-in-law, Edna Carr, Mable Borders, Doris Poole and Audrey Haire; two step-brothers, Carroll and Milton Moody; one step-sister, Charlsea Spinks, all of Texas; one uncle, Alex Sutton and his wife, Margaret; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was a member of the Far Hills Baptist Church.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Betty was a graduate of Bay High.
She was retired from J.C. Penney after 20 years of service.
Funeral services were held Oct. 30 in Dayton, Ohio, with the Rev. Stephen Spurgen officiating.

CLEVELAND THOMAS 'UNC' HOLMAN
Mr. Cleveland Thomas "Unc" Holman, age 86, of Panama City, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at a local hospital.
A native of Vermont, he had lived in Panama City for 54 years.
He was the former owner and operator of the Holman Motel at Long Beach.
Mr. Holman was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater and fighting on Iwo Jima.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach.
Mr. Holman is survived by two nieces, Sydney Cowgill-Crout and her husband, Kenneth, of Panama City Beach and Dale Keyworth and her husband, Don, of Houston, Texas; a nephew, Danny Bowlen and his wife, Kinki, of Panama City; a great-niece, Francene Purser and her husband, Bill, of Panama City Beach; a great-nephew, Louis Tate and his wife, Cathy, of Panama City Beach; and many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Holman.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kenneth Crout officiating.

ARTHUR 'MAX' JORDAN
Mr. Arthur "Max" Jordan, age 80, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at a local hospital.
He had been a resident of the area since 1946, coming here from Graceville, Fla., and was Baptist by faith.
Mr. Jordan served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII.
He retired from the Naval Coastal Systems Station after 30 years. Mr. Jordan was an avid gardener who loved flowers.
His hobbies were fishing, dancing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Jordan, of Panama City; three sons, Douglas Jordan and his wife, Beth, of Alachua, Fla., Terry Jordan and his wife, Michelle, of San Diego, Calif., and Tommy Jordan and his wife, Cheri, of Panama City; the mother of his sons, Minnie Jordan, of Panama City; grandchildren, Dustin, Kim, Gabriel, Ross, Clifford, and Julia; two great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters; three stepgrandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Pledger officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Nov. 11, 2001, from 4 until 7 p.m.

JIMMY STALLINGS
Jimmy Stallings, age 55, of 3712 E. Sixth Plaza, Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at his home.
He had been a resident of Bay County for the past 46 years, coming here from Anniston, Ala.
He was a retired truck driver and of the Protestant faith.
Mr. Stallings is survived by one daughter, Lee Stallings of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Johnny Stallings of Panama City, Fla., and Butch Stallings of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Gerald Stallings and his wife, Pat, of Panama City, Fla., and Danny Stallings of Panama City, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Stallings will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the graveside in Lynn Haven Cemetery
with the Rev. Sammy Stewart officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Straightway Christian Ministries Church, 5031 Star Avenue in Panama City, Fla. Flowers will be received at the church after 9 a.m. Monday morning.

Sandra Kay Laramore Blount, 47, of 3517 D St., Panama City, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, in her home.
She was the administrative assistant to principal Fred Goodwin at Bay High School.
She had been a lifelong resident of Bay County.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a 1972 graduate of Bay High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. (Bill) and Edna Eloise Laramore; sister, Sharon Janelle Gunter; and brother, Don Wayne Laramore. She is survived by son, Scotty L. Blount of Panama City; two sisters, LaVerne Olsen of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Barbara Rimer of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; two brothers, Ronald Laramore of Panama City, William Laramore of Thomasville, Ga.

Bernice Owen Edwards, of 2213 Merritt Drive, died November 10, 2001 in a local nursing home.
She had been a resident of Bay County since 1982 moving here from Greenville, Ala.
She was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Judy Boyle.
She is survived by a daughter, May Opal Noles of Panama City; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
