Barbara Marie Moon

Barbara Marie Moon, 77, of DeLand passed away on Friday, October 14, at Victoria's Place Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Moon, a retired dry cleaning clerk, was born in Chicago, IL and moved to this area in 1988 from Broadview, IL.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Moon of Deland, FL and George Moon of Simpson, IL; four sisters, Arlene Miner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Marjorie Doyle of DeLand, FL, Violet Carroll of Chicago, IL and Evelyn Iprafonous of Maryland; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Katie W. Given
July 13, 1930 - October 11, 2005
Memorial service for Katie W. Given, 75, Lancaster Road, DeLand, who died Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at her home, will be 3 p.m. Thursday, October 13, at Lankford Funeral Home & Crematory, DeLand, with Rev. Michael Fronk officiating.
Mrs. Given was born in Owings, SC and moved from there to this area in 1957. She was the vice president and treasurer of Empire of America in DeLand before retiring. She was a member of the Lake Beresford Yacht Club and a former member of the DeLand Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley H. Given.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley II of Gainesville and Baron of Bradenton; a brother, John "Buck" Willis Jr. of Laurens, SC; four sisters, Dorothy Owings and Sadie Rice both of Greenville, SC, Sara Gambrell of Clemson, SC, and Jane Craddock of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Price
January 22, 1924 - October 7, 2005
Richard D. Price, 81, of Hollowridge Drive, Orange City,a retired painter/sand blaster, died Friday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. Mr. Price, an Army veteran, was born in Washington , DC and moved to this area in 1990 from Baltimore.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, Steve of Orange City, Marvin of Baltimore, and Terry of Iowa; and a daughter, Mary Ellen Price of Baltimore.
Nellie Mae Roberts Braddock
September 19, 1917 - October 5, 2005
Nellie Mae Roberts Braddock, 88, of West French Avenue, who retired as a waitress for McCrorys and Sears snack bars in Miami, died Wednesday, October 5, at home. Mrs. Braddock, a native of Key West, moved here in 1973 from Coconut Grove. She was a member of the Shuffleboard Club of Orange City.
Survivors include three daughters, Verna Campbell, Patty Knowles and Yvonne Bennett, all of Orange City; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Karl George King, Jr.
December 29, 1945 - October 4, 2005
Karl George King Jr., 59, of East Kentucky Avenue, a store manager for Cumberland Farms, Titusville, died Tuesday at Parrish Medical Center, Titusville. Mr. King, an Air Force veteran, was born in Camden, NJ and came here nine years ago from Colorado.
Memorial service for Karl G. King Jr. will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005, at Grace Chapel, 407 E. Kentucky Avenue, DeLand, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund for Karl's youngest daughter at First Community Bank listed as Karl G. King Memorial Fund for Brittany King in memory of Karl G. King Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a son, Karl of Deltona; two daughters, Brittany King of DeLand and Tabitha Locke of Pompano Beach; his father, Karl of Okeechobee; his mother, Marie King of Beach Haven, NJ and two grandchildren.
Frances R. Dye
December 28, 1928 - October 1, 2005
Frances R. Dye, 76, of North High Street, a native of Stafford, VA.died Saturday at home. Mrs. Dye was a homemaker and came here in 1975 from Fredericksburg, VA.
Survivors include her compainion of thirty years, Leonard; three sons, Marion of Spotsylvania, VA, Ronald of Fredericksburg, VA and Milton of Stafford, VA ; a daughter, Ann Sullivan and a brother, Walter De Shields, both of Stafford, VA; a sister, Elizabeth Saville-Adams of Lake Helen; 12 Grandchildren; 9 great-grand children and a niece, Diana Myers of Lake Helen, who provided for her care.

Sybil Violet Wilson

Memorial service for Sybil Violet Wilson, 57, Orange City, who died at home Saturday, October 1, 2005, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005, at First Assembly Of God Church of DeLand, with the Rev. Mike Modica officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Tampa and moved to this area in 1977 from Orlando. She enjoyed quilting, working with stained glass and needlepoint.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Kermit Wilson, Orange City; son, Mark Aaron Wilson of Orange City; daughter, Erika Kalyn Wilson of Orange City; sister, Charlotte Pate of Alaska; two brothers, Christopher Mitchell of Lakeland, and Robert Mitchell of Winter Haven; and grandson, Austin B. Wilson of Orange City.

Joseph P. Caccamise, Jr.

Joseph P. Caccamise, Jr., 81, of Kissimmee, a Deland resident from 1963 to 1978, died Friday at Osceola Healthcare center, Saint Cloud. Mr. Caccamise, an Army airforce veteran of WW11, was born Rochester, NY. He was a hotel manager in Saint Augustine. Before his retirement, he was chosen St. John's County Hotel/Motel Employee Of The Year.
Surviors include, two sons, David of Jacksonville and Joseph 111 of Ponte Verde; two daughters, Donna Mitchell of Kissimmee and Patricia Hines of Greenville, NC; a brother, Alfred of DeLand; two sisters, Doris Kohlman of Rochester, NY and Rosemary Murphy of Chico, CA; 9 Grand children and 4 great-grandchildren.

Margerie M. Sheets

Margerie M. Sheets, 93, of Chipola Avenue, a native of Minneapolis, died Friday at Florida Hospital DeLand. Mrs. Sheets, a homemaker, came to this area in 1986 from Hollywood, FL. She was a member of the Lake Beresford Yacht Club.
Survivors include a nephew, Steve Glidden of St. Augustine, and three cousins, Ralph Glidden of Jacksonville, John Russell of Cody, WY, and Pat Russell of Center Sandwich, N.H., all of who provided for her care.
Sarah Alice Hannon
May 15, 1975 - September 22, 2005
Sarah Alice Hannon, 30, a waitress, died Thursday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City. Born in Hollywood, FL, Mrs. Hannon came to this area in 1986 from West Virginia.
Survivors include two sons, Connor and Parker, both of Hobe Sound, FL; a daughter, Kelsea Alban of DeLand; her mother, Bonnie Caron of Brook, IN; two brothers, Peter Caron of DeLand, and Jake Caron of Florida; and two sisters, Cheryl Merrill of DeLand and Deborah Donne of Florida.
Colette Martineau
March 19, 1936 - September 21, 2004
Ms. Colette A. Martineau, 69, of DeLand, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, at Florida Hospital DeLand. Ms. Martineau was born in Westbrook, Maine and moved to this area in 1986 from Altamonte Springs, FL.
Ms. Martineau attended St. Bonaventure's University in Olean, NY and graduated with a Masters Degree in Sacred Science. She entered the Community of the Sister's of Presentation of Mary and taught for many years in the parochial schools of Rhode Island. She helped open Christian Life Centers of New Hampshire. In Maine, she worked for the Catholic Diocese as Regional Director of Religious Education for the northern area of the state. After moving to Florida, she worked at St. Mary Magdalene's Church in Altamonte Springs and then for the Diocese of Orlando for several years. Upon moving to DeLand, she worked as the Director of Religious Education at St. Peter's Catholic Church until her retirement. Even after retirement, Ms. Martineau stayed busy with Bible Studies and the University of Women's Club.
Ms. Martineau is survived by one sister, Madeline Hodgkins of Orlando, FL and her friend and caregiver, Heidi Bradly of DeLand.

Samantha Rowe
April 24, 1979 - September 21, 2005
Samantha Rowe, 26, of Lake Helen, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 21, at Florida Hospital DeLand, after a battle with lupus. Samantha was born in DeLand and lived in this area all of her life. She enjoyed watching movies.
Miss Rowe is survived by her mother, Catherine Canter of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and father, Ronald Rowe of Lake Helen and three brothers, Jacob Rainey and John Rainey, Jr. both of DeLand and Jordan Canter of Upton, KY.
