DON EDWIN FURNE
Retired Lt. Col. Don Edwin Furne, 79, of Parker, Fla., passed away Aug. 12, 2001, in Panama City. Mr. Furne was a pilot for the Berlin Airlift during World War II while serving in the United States Air Force. He had been a resident of Parker since 1957, after being transferred to Tyndall Air Force Base. Mr. Furne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Viola Furne; two daughters, Marvinette Dennis and Bonnie Furne; two grandsons, Don Dennis and Adam Dennis; and one granddaughter, Marie Dennis, all of Panama City; two brothers, Dale Furne of Isabel, Calif., and Marty Furne and wife, Addie of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and two sisters, Jean Riester of Tucson, Ariz., and Iris Aschim and husband, Don of Lakeview, Ark. Funeral services for Mr. Furne will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reid Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. John David Knight, age 24, of 768 Westwood Beach Circle, Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 14 years, moving here from Marianna, Fla. Mr. Knight was a member of the Back Beach Road Assembly of God. He loved life and his friends. Knight Jr. of Blountstown, Fla.; aunts, Leila Forbes and Leta Mears; and an uncle, Michael Knight. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, whom he adored very much, Jeanne Forbes. Mr. Edward Earl "Doodle" Knight, 44, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at his residence. He was a concrete form fitter and Pentecostal by faith. Joseph P. Blumer, 95, a former resident of Pensacola, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001. Mr. Blumer was a resident of Pensacola most of his life and a retired employee of Gulf Power Co. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Cathedral of Sacred Heart. Survivors include his wife, Mary Blumer; a daughter and her husband, Margaret and Tim Sloan; and three grandchildren, Russell, Mary Margaret and Timothy Sloan. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Msgr. Raymond Mullins. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery

Mr. C.W. "Chuck" Braud, age 84, of 2801 State Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1979, coming here from Fairfax, Va. Mr. Braud was an active Mason and Shriner, joining the Masons in Denver, Colo., in 1979. He was a member of the Acme Masonic Lodge No. 222. His extensive Masonic record includes Knight Commander Court of Honor Scottish Rite and District Deputy Grandmaster 4th District and District Instructor. Mr. Braud is survived by his wife, Edith Ansley Braud of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Virginia Czubiak of Los Angeles, Calif.; sisters-in-law; Jessie Ansley of Panama City, Fla., and Faye Ansley of Palatka, Fla.; a niece, Marguerite Belyeu and her husband Myron of Tallahassee, Fla.; a great-nephew, Jason Camile of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a niece, Nell McGregor and her husband Gerald of Denham Springs, La. DAVID KENNETH BRODNAX
David Kenneth Brodnax of Lynn Haven, passed away Aug. 12, 2001, in St. Andrews Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Bastrop, La., on Jan. 3, 1919, and moved to this area in 1960. Mr Brodnax was Protestant by faith. He was a World War II veteran and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in Praun, Germany, Feb. 9, 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr Brodnax retired from Arizona Chemical Corp as a superintendent of traffic and shipping in 1976. He belonged to the Lynn Haven Masonic Lodge No. 314 and was a member of Panama Country Club for 41 years. Kenneth was an outdoors enthusiast and an avid sportsman all of his life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting. Mr Brodnax is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Barbara Brodnax of Lynn Haven, Fla..; son, David Kenneth Brodnax Jr. and his wife Janice of Donaldsonville, La.; daughter, Barbara Ann Crum and her husband Tyress E. of Cypress, Texas; sister, Laura Bell Suggs of Parker, Fla.; five grandchildren he dearly loved, Christa of Dallas, Texas, Gavin of Ruston, La., Logan Brodnax of Donaldsonville, La., Ty David and Nicole Crum of Cypress, Texas. Mr Brodnax was preceded in death by by a grandson, Fletcher A. Brodnax; and two sisters, Nell Smith and Louise Vandenberg. Mrs. Alice J. "Nita" Radcliff, age 88, of Panama City, Fla., passed away, Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Baycrest Nursing Center. She was a native of St. Stephens, Ala., and had lived in Panama City for 28 years, moving here from Calvert, Ala. Mrs. Radcliff was a homemaker and a member of the Millville Advent Christian Church. She was a wonderful seamstress and made quilts for all of her grandchildren who called her "Mimi." Nita loved her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a daughter, Anne Beville of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Howard Terrell Radcliff of Walton County, Fla., and Gregory Paul Radcliff and his wife Jeannie of Savannah, Tenn.; a sister, Judith Clanton and her husband Charlie of Malcom, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Susan Kennedy and her husband Ray, Gwen Hayes and her husband Bobby, Linda Radcliff, Tim Radcliff and his wife Michelle, Bethany Radcliff, Jordan Radcliff, Marja Cooper and her husband Earl, and Ted Beville and his wife Johanna; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Julia Waite; her aunt and uncle, Bertha and Malcom McRae, with whom she spent her childhood years; and her husband of 53 years, Howard T. Radcliff.
