Mrs. Fern C. Horne-Wilson, age 75, of 6015 Michelle Circle, Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at a local hospital. She was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and had lived in Panama City since 1989. Mrs. Horne-Wilson was a retired nurse and was of the Protestant faith. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Horne-Wilson was a friend to all and to know her was to love her. She is survived by her husband of many years: William R. "Bob" Wilson of Panama City, Fla., and her two beloved companions: Tara and Ginger. She was the mother of three children: Kenneth R. Horne and his wife Jenny of Crawfordville, Fla., Donna James and her hsuband Tony and Denise Pope and her husband Steven, all of Panama City, Fla.; the stepmother of Geri Rainey and Charles Wilson of Cincinnati, Bill Wilson and Debbie Roy of Dry Ridge, Ky., Pamela Reiser of Marblehead, Ohio and Louis Wilson of Dayton, Ohio; grandmother of Brian and Brett Harvey, Daniel Horne and Tiffany Horne, Ricky Shepherd, Teresa Anton, June Lee, and Dona Raker; great-grandchildren: Erik Harvey and Austin Tyler Harvey, Sydnie Jayde Horne, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Ashley, Kyle, and Holly, Billy, Kathy, and Eddie Roy, Bobby, Ora, Pamela, Tommy, and Dixie Rainey, Ora, William, Samantha, Denise, and Mabel Wilson, Alex, Steven, Charlie, Stacey, and Chris Wilson, and Buddy Wilson; and great-great-grandchildren: Lana, Tammy, Toby, Billy, Crystal, Jessica, Brittany, Jacob, Kathy, Jeri, Bobby, Billy, Jimmy, Brad, Jessica, Cody, Shelby, Justin, Alex, Stephanie, Brandon, Chris, Jonathan, and Cara. She was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Edna Perkins and a daughter: Pamela Horne. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Brian Harvey, Brett Harvey, Erik Harvey, Tony James, Bill Wilson, Charles Wilson, Rick Shepherd, and Johnnie Raker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 20, 2001 from 6 until 8 p.m.

PERCY A. CLARK
Percy A. Clark, 83, of Skunk Valley Road in Southport, died Tuesday evening July 17, 2001 at his home. He was a native of West Virginia and had been living in Bay County for the past 27 years. Mr. Clark was a retired veteran of 27 years from the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Margaret Clark. Mrs. Clark would like to extend special appreciation to the following: friends, neighbors, Dr. Sweetser and his staff, and special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Florida during Mr. Clark's illness. The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Mr. Clark. The family request memorialization by cremation.

SHELLY C. DAWSON
Mr. Shelly C. Dawson, 72, of 5113 East Fourth St. died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was a native of Liberty County and a resident of Bay County for many years. He retired from the city of Callaway after 23 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Greater Faith Temple Church in Blountstown. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Rosetta R. Dawson of Callaway; three sons: Shelly Dawson Jr. of Chattahoochee, Curtis Dawson of Germany (U.S. Army) and Michael Dawson of Panama City; three daughters: Sandra Dawson of Ohio, Darlene Faulk and Renee Dawson, both of Blountstown; four sisters: Estella Henderson of Detroit, Mich., Dorris Perryman of Los Angeles, Calif., Willie Mould Black and Lillie Mae Simmons, both of Bristol; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Dawson will be held Saturday July 21, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. CST at the Greater Faith Temple Church in Blountstown, with Missionary Eddie Mae Davis, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Watson Cemetery in Bristol, Fla. The remains will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. The family will receive relatives and friends locally at 5113 East Fourth St. in Callaway, Fla.

NORMAN FRANKLIN BARFIELD SR.
Mr. Norman Franklin Barfield Sr., 62, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be held today, July 21, 2001, at 10 a.m. from the Campground Baptist Church, with the Rev. Al Sonastine officiating. There will be a private family gravesite service at a later date. Mr. Barfield will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service today. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the charity of their choice. Mr. Barfield was a member of Campground Baptist Church. He also spent 35 years with the armed forces, including time during the Vietname War. He is survived by his wife You Ok "Kim" Barfield of Daleville, Ala.; two daughters, JoAnn (John) Greenlee of Panama City, Amy Santullo (David Hampton) of Villa Hills, Ky., a son, Norman F. Barfield Jr. (Jane) of Panama City; a stepdaughter, Natalie (Chris) Johnson of Dothan, Ala.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Merriam L. Deaton, age 85, of 921 W. College St., Harrison, Ark., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a member of Valley Springs First Baptist Church of Harrison, Ark. Mrs. Deaton was survived by a daughter, Sandra Davis and husband, Charlie of Harrison, Ark.; two sons, Donald Deaton and wife, Carol of Panama City, Fla.; and Joe Deaton and wife, Bonnie of Harrison, Ark.; two brothers, Bert Seay of Harrison, Ark., and Thomas Seay and wife, Pat of Harrison, Ark.; and six grandchildren: David Deaton, Mark Deaton, Ray Davis, Vince Deaton, Paris Hyland, and Tammy Wyatt. Hazel Thomley Ingram, 70, of 412 Detroit Ave., Panama City, died Friday, July 20, 2001, in her home. She was a retired nurse and had been a resident of Panama City since 1967, moving here from Marianna, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Osie Lee Ingram; her parents, William Fletcher and Sarah Edna Thomley; brother, Tom Thomley; and a sister, Bonzie Myers. She is survived by a son, William Alexander Ingram of Panama City; two daughters, Charlotte Ingram Rogers of Phenix City, Ala., Connie Sue Ingram of Panama City; three grandchildren, Richard Keith Rogers, Lori Marie Griffiths, Amanda Lea Parks and husband, David; six great-grandchildren: Kayla Lee Rogers, Megan Alisha Newman, Jessica Marie Griffiths, Katrina Nicole Griffiths, Brianna Alexis Griffiths, Lindsey Cameren Beauchamp; two brothers, Cullen Thomley and wife, Frances of Cantonment, Pete (Jimmy) Thomley and wife Carolyn of Adam, Tenn.; and two sisters, Dorothy Stewart and husband, Miram of Marianna, Daisy Douglas of Graceville; four sisters-in-law: Georgia Vann Fussell and husband, Ed, Emily Jean Hill and husband, Donald, Violet Dean Cupp and husband, Danny, Magdalene Ingram Sarvis and husband, David. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Marvin Chapel Church, Marianna, with the Rev. Charles Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday.

JAMES ROBERT 'BOB' JONES
James Robert "Bob" Jones, 79, of Mexico Beach, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in Austin, Texas. He was a former resident of Tallahassee and the former mayor of Mexico Beach. He was a native of Columbus, Ga., and had lived in Mexico Beach since 1983. He retired as a major in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietname War. During WWII he was a glider pilot and was a member of the WWII Glider Pilots Association. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the landing at Normandy, the Battle for Bastogne and the Seige at Arnheim. He was a Methodist. He is survived by two sons, Jim Jones of Tallahassee and Larry Jones of Austin; one brother, Frank Jones of Green Cove Springs; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at Sycamore Cemetery in Greensboro at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2001. Memorial contributions may be made to the WWII Memorial Campaign, P.O. Box 96766, Washington, D.C. 20090-6766.

Shon E. Jones, 29, of Panama City and formerly of Peoria, Ill., died at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday July 15, 2001. He was killed in a motorcycle acccident, while wearing a helmet, near Panama City. He was born July 25, 1971, in Peoria to Ralph Jr. and Gloria Choate Jones. He was a cook at the Treasure Ship in Panama City Beach for four years. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Shilling of Peoria; his father and stepmother, Ralph Jr. and Kay Jones of Missouri; one brother, Christopher Shilling of Peoria; one half brother, Ben Jones of Peoria; his grandparents, Joyce Choate of Panama City Beach and Ralph Jones Sr. of Chillicothe; and two aunts, three uncles, and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery in Chillicothe. Memorials may be made to any charity.

MIKE STRICKLAND
Mike Strickland, Sr., 54, of Geneva, Ala., passed from this life Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Marianna, Fla. He was a Baptist by faith. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m., at the Wachob Chapel with the Rev. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery, with full military honors. MARGUERITE 'PETE' ARNETT TOOTLE
Marguerite "Pete" Arnett Tootle, 75, passed away Friday, July 20, 2001, at Gulf Pines Hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Tootle was a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe. "Pete," as she was best known to local residents, worked for many years as a nurse at the First Aid Department at St. Joe Paper Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was very active in the formation of the mission at Beach Baptist Chapel. She also served on the Missions Committee when the Howard Creek Baptist Church was formed. Mrs. Tootle is survived by her husband, Harvey C. Tootle; son, Roger C. Tootle; daughter, Sandra Tootle Ritter; two grandsons, Tres Rhanes and Clay Tootle; one granddaughter, Kristin Rhanes; and one sister, Sadie A. Chandler. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 22, at the First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. EDT. The family will receive friends at the Tootle home at 601 Marvin Ave., beginning at 7 p.m. today.

ALBERT C. STORY
Albert C. Story, 86, of Panama City, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, after a lengthy illness. He had been a Bay County resident for over 50 years. He was born in Blountstown on July 18, 1915. Mr. Story was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a machinist at International Paper mill for approximately 30 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Story is survived by his wife of 63 years, Amanda Burke Story; a brother, Thomas Edward Story of Fairfax, Va.; one son, Paul Edward Story of Hawkinsville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Dodie Ann Eason and Amanda Lynn Story; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Southerland Family Funeral Home of Panama City on Monday, July 23, 2001, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., preceding the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
